Govt nod awaited to hold 1st Happiness Survey in MP

Bhopal: After being on hold for eight years, the happiness department sought the nod of the state govt to carry out the happiness survey. Eight years ago, in May 2017, the govt decided to measure the well-being of the people in the state by conducting a happiness survey. It was to be conducted by the happiness department, the first such department in the country. The govt signed an MoU with IIT-Kharagpur for the development of a happiness index to measure the well-being of people. The questionnaire for the survey was ready, but it was deferred for different reasons, including assembly and general elections. The happiness department said it is ready, and once the nod of the govt comes, the process to carry out the survey would be conducted. Over 80 experts from different parts of the globe brainstormed in Bhopal, but the survey could not take off. Officials of the happiness department informed that they can conduct the survey in two months' time after getting the go-ahead from the govt. A short training would be held for surveyors, and they would be sent to the district to carry out the survey. Officials said, as per the initial plan, 10,000 people would be surveyed in all districts of MP. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch vàng CFDs với sàn môi giới tin cậy IC Markets Tìm hiểu thêm Undo The questionnaire for the survey was finalised. In every district, around 200 people were to be surveyed, officials added. The govt and experts of IIT-Kharagpur had shortlisted 30 questions, which would be asked to people during the happiness survey. People of MP had to rate their happiness on different parameters that include education, their social and economic conditions, and experience in govt offices and schemes on a scale of 1 to 10. The online data collected was to be shared with IIT-Kharagpur, and based on it, the happiness of the people of MP was to be rated. The exercise remains on hold for years now. MP hit national headlines in July 2016 when it became the first state to set up a happiness department. The happiness survey to measure people's happiness was planned in 2017, but the survey remains on hold. It was also not that the happiness department has been ignored by the new BJP govt. On August 23 last year, chief minister Mohan Yadav reviewed the happiness department. CM Yadav proposed that every district should have a dedicated centre or building for ideological and creative activities, with the involvement of related departments. He stated that the lives of citizens should be both materially prosperous and joyful, noting that a peaceful individual contributes to the development of a happy and prosperous society. Officials said CM Mohan Yadav has also given instructions for the training of thousands of govt employees to be part of Ujjain Simhastha 2028 management. The happiness department officials said training of employees as part of Ujjain Simhastha was to teach them how to be helpful and kind during long hours of stressful duty during Simhastha. NHAI increases compensation for Western Bypass to 1k crore, acquisition to be expedited

Indore: In a significant development for the much-anticipated Western Bypass project, the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) substantially increased the compensation for land acquisition in Indore's Sanwer, Hatod, and Depalpur tehsils, as well as in Dhar's Pithampur. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now This revised compensation aims to resolve ongoing protests from farmers and expedite the critical infrastructure project. The 64 km-long Western Bypass requires approximately 600 hectares of land across Indore and Dhar districts. While about 30 hectares are govt-owned, the remaining vast majority is private land that needs to be acquired. The bypass itself spans around 55.5 km through three tehsils of Indore and an additional 8.4 km through Dhar's Pithampur tehsil. NHAI Indore division project director Sumesh Banzal confirmed the revised compensation figures. "Earlier, the compensation was estimated based on the collector's guideline. Following the farmers' demands, we examined the average sale and purchase of the lands in marked tehsils and re-estimated the compensation that now increased from earlier around Rs 600 crore to now about Rs 1,000 crore," he stated. According to the district-wise breakdown, approximately Rs 795 crore in compensation was sanctioned for around 1,000 farmers across 26 villages in Depalpur, Sanwer, and Hatod. The remaining Rs 200 crore will be distributed among the affected farmers of Pithampur. Banzal added, "The compensation was awarded. The amount will soon be credited into the farmers' account, before starting the land acquisition." The NHAI's ambitious goal is to complete the road ahead of the Ujjain Simhastha in 2028, a major religious congregation that draws millions. Last year, the NHAI approved the construction of the 34 km-long six-lane Indore Western Bypass under Package-1 at a cost of Rs 1534.70 crore. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Package-2, costing around Rs 1,300 crore, will cover the remaining 30 km stretch of the 64 km bypass. This six-lane road will traverse through Indore and Dhar, commencing from NH-52 and connecting with NATRAX in Pithampur. The project also proposes the construction of three major bridges, 30 small bridges/culverts, and three railway-over-bridges (ROB). Collector Asheesh Singh expressed optimism about the project's acceleration. "The compensation, with a rise, was approved. We are expecting to now speed up construction of the Western Bypass that will facilitate commuters of Indore, Dhar, and on connecting routes," he said.

New four-lane ROB on MR 10 gets railways nod

1 2 3 4 Indore: The railways has approved General Arrangement Drawing (GAD) of a new four-lane railway over bridge (ROB) paving way for its construction parallel to the existing one on MR-10 to facilitate smooth traffic flow. Now, the Indore Development Authority (IDA) will issue tenders for its construction. The four-lane ROB is targeted to be completed before Ujjain Simhastha 2028 . Its construction will ease vehicular movement and reduce pressure on the current four-lane ROB. Considering the increasing vehicular pressure in the city, flyovers are being constructed at various intersections and ROBs. Additionally, incomplete roads from the master plan are also being completed. In this context, the width of the ROB on the highly busy MR-10 route will be increased. A new four-lane ROB will take shape parallel to the existing ROB towards Kumedi. Following an agreement in the recent board meeting, the IDA sent a proposal to the railways for approval. The railways has now approved GAD. The IDA will now proceed with the further process. The maximum vehicular pressure during Simhastha is expected to be on MR-10, hence a target of completing its construction within two years has been set. The IDA has fixed an estimated cost of Rs 60 crore for the construction of the four-lane ROB. The existing ROB will be used for one direction of traffic, and the new ROB for the other. Currently, the entire vehicular pressure of MR-10 is on the existing ROB. "After the construction of the new four-lane ROB, MR-10 and the Super Corridor will become fully eight-lane. The ROB built on the Super Corridor has already been made eight-lane," the authority CEO RP Ahirwar said. Along with the MR-10 ROB, the width of the culvert built on the Kahn River nearby will also be increased. This culvert is currently four-lane. Along with the construction of the eight-lane ROB, the culvert will also be made eight-lane. This will ensure smooth and unhindered vehicular movement. The MR-4 road being built from Sarwate Bus Station to Kumedi ISBT is also being widened. This road will also connect to MR-10 at Kumedi, increasing the vehicular pressure on MR-10. Additionally, the pressure of buses operating from Kumedi ISBT and vehicles going to Ujjain will also be on the MR-10 ROB. So, the new ROB will ease the traffic.
