Minister Lokesh hails revamped ration distribution system
VIJAYAWADA: HRD and IT Minister Nara Lokesh lauded the newly launched ration distribution system by Civil Supplies Minister Nadendla Manohar, calling it a progressive and people-centric initiative that reflects the coalition government's commitment to food security. In a social media post on X, Lokesh congratulated the minister for initiating ration distribution through fair price shops (FPS) in a festive and organised manner, which he said aligned with public expectations. He said the shift from mobile dispensing units (MDUs) to shop-based distribution was a major success from day one. 'While an average of 11 lakh people received ration on the first day under the previous government, 18.87 lakh families received ration on Sunday alone,' Lokesh highlighted, emphasising that the new policy eliminates the uncertainty and inconvenience of waiting for mobile ration vehicles. 'This is a testament to the TDP-led NDA government's resolve to improve service delivery and dignity for the marginalised,' Lokesh added. CPI(M) demands cancellation of land allotment to URSA company by Andhra Pradesh government in Visakhapatnam
The CPI(M) Visakhapatnam district central committee members have demanded that the State government cancel the lands allotted to URSA Clusters Private Limited, calling it a 'fake' company. The party leaders, including district secretary M. Jaggu Naidu and K. Lokanadham, told reporters at their office in Jagadamba Centre here on Saturday, that the TDP-led coalition government in the State allotted 60 acres of land worth ₹250 crore to URSA company in the name of IT development in the city. The government allotted 3.5 acres of land at Rushikonda Hill No. 3 and 56.5 acres of land at Kapuluppada, falling under the GVMC limits, for the company. 'The State government has allotted valuable land at a throwaway price to URSA, which is a newly-registered company and does not have a record of employment generation so far. This is a sign of land grabbing in the city. The value of this public property is around ₹250 crore. Why has the government allotted valuable public property to a private company at such a low price? Similarly, the government has also allotted 21 acres of land to TCS company at Rushikonda Hill No. 3. We demand that the allotted lands be cancelled immediately. Otherwise, the government will have to face severe consequences,' said Mr. Lokanatham and Mr. Jaggu Naidu. Earlier this week, a four-member committee from the party Visakhapatnam district unit visited Kapuluppada and Rushikonda Hill No. 3, where the State government allegedly allotted 60 acres of land to URSA at 99 paise per acre for setting up a data centre. The committee members B. Gangarao and R.S.N. Murthy also participated in the visit along with Mr. Jaggu Naidu and Mr. Lokanatham. 'The ruling parties have targeted Visakhapatnam city to grab valuable land in the name of industrialisation and employment generation. State government leaders said that the land was allotted to URSA as the company was investing ₹5,278 crore for setting up a data centre and creating 2,500 jobs, but the claims of the company are unbelievable,' the party leaders said. 'This URSA company is a fake company, and it was registered in Hyderabad on February 12, 2025, after the TDP-BJP-Jana Sena Party coalition government came to power,' they said. In 2019, the Chandrababu Naidu government had allotted 134 acres of land to Adani company for setting up a 200 mega watt data centre with an investment of ₹70,000 crore. But so far there is no sign of the Adani data project. Similarly, the Chandrababu Naidu government had allotted 13.5 acres of land on RK Beach road to Lulu Group for setting up a mall. 'Release a White Paper' 'We demand that the State government release a White Paper explaining the total land allotted to the companies, the number of companies established, the number of jobs created through these allotments, salaries, MoUs and other details that people need to know,' the CPI(M) committee members demanded.

Coalition govt focused on ‘scams than schemes': YSRCP
Rajamahendravaram: YSRCP State official spokesperson and former MP Margani Bharat Ram attacked the ruling coalition government, alleging that it is more focused on 'scams than schemes.' Addressing the media at the YSRCP city office on Wednesday, Bharat accused the govern-ment of gross irregularities in the allocation of prime land and targeting honest officials for political vendetta. Referring to the allocation of the prime URSA lands in the heart of Visakhapatnam, Bharat questioned how land valued at Rs 50 crore per acre was being allotted for just Rs 50 lakh. He accused the government of simultaneously increasing state debt while disposing of valu-able public assets at throwaway prices. Bharat also strongly condemned the recent arrest of senior IPS officer PSR Anjaneyulu, call-ing it an act of vengeance based on an outdated complaint from an actress. 'Arresting a sin-cere officer without proper verification, just because it's being dictated by CM Naidu, will have consequences,' he warned.
