The New York Mets got bumped out of first place in an embarrassing fashion on Friday night, losing 10-2 to the Philadelphia Phillies to open their series. The Phillies are now one game ahead of them atop the NL East ahead of Saturday's rematch.

New York right-handed pitcher Blade Tidwell allowed two runs on four hits across 3.2 innings in his second career start, while relievers Reed Garrett and Justin Garza allowed a combined eight runs over two innings. The Phillies out-hit the Mets 13-7, and it's the most runs the latter team has allowed in a game all month.
New York made a roster move before Saturday's game, via SNY.

The club is adding right-handed pitcher Tyler Zuber from Triple-A Syracuse. The 30-year-old has nine strikeouts, five walks, and no runs allowed in his last 7.1 minor-league innings.
Zuber is 1-5 with a 5.13 ERA over 56 career MLB appearances, along with four holds.
The Mets have lost seven straight games and are 3-7 over their last 10. They now have the NL's fourth-best record and first Wild Card spot.

Right-handed pitcher Griffin Canning (6-3, 3.80 ERA) will start for New York on Saturday night against Philadelphia right-hander Mick Abel (2-0, 2.21 ERA). After that, the Mets will play the Phillies again on Sunday night before returning home to host the Atlanta Braves.
New York will then hit the road to play the Pittsburgh Pirates before hosting the Milwaukee Brewers and New York Yankees. Following that, the team will face the Baltimore Orioles and Kansas City Royals away from home.
