Portland Anti-ICE protests escalate with tear gas and rubber bullets

Anti-ICE protesters were sprayed with tear gas and rubber bullets by no-nonsense federal authorities as night fell outside an immigration detention center in Oregon. Hundreds of masked protestors descended on the streets of Portland and marched on the local ICE facility on Wednesday night, railing against Trump's deportation agenda. Federal agents worked quickly to deploy flash bangs, rubber bullets and tear gas when the demonstrators tried to block law enforcement vehicles from entering and exiting the facility, according to video captured by Turning Point USA's Frontlines. Protests have raged on the West Coast for more than a week after pro-immigrant demonstrators wreaked havoc in Los Angeles and sparked widespread protests around the nation. On Wednesday, demonstrators marched with signs reading 'Nobody is illegal on stolen land' and 'Protect immigrants and refugees' while wearing Palestinian keffiyehs and taunting authorities by rolling a dumpster in front of the ICE entrance and refusing orders to disperse. Even more law enforcement officials were stationed on a rooftop, and shot non-lethal weapons from above, raining down on the agitators in the crowds. More officers decked out in riot gear emerged, closing in on the remaining demonstrators and blasting them to tear gas, which ultimately caused them to retreat. The Department of Homeland Security considered it crucial to clear the space surrounding the facility to ensure several government cars could exit safely. She added that assaults on officers have jumped an extraordinary 413 percent. 'Secretary Noem's message to the rioters is clear: you will not stop us or slow us down. ICE and our federal law enforcement partners will continue to enforce the law. And if you lay a hand on a law enforcement officer, you will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.' Frustrated residents within the protest zones hunkered down and placed signs on their windows begging demonstrators not to vandalize their homes. Meanwhile in Los Angeles, where the violence began a week prior to the No Kings protests, thousands gathered in front of City Hall, waving signs and listening to a Native American drum circle before marching through the streets. National Guard troops and US Marines were deployed to regain control of the region after days of ongoing violence.

Print Close By Elizabeth Heckman, Gabriel Hays Published June 20, 2025 Young women from across America attending the 2025 Young Women's Leadership Summit (YWLS) said that being a conservative woman means recognizing their God-given value and standing up for American principles even if they've become unpopular. Fox News Digital spoke to several young women at the summit last week about the traits they believe are quintessential to being a conservative woman today. Kelly, from Texas, told the outlet that being a conservative woman means "that we need to uphold America's values and our God-given value." KEY SCOTUS PARENTAL RIGHTS CASES DRAW MCMAHON, MOMS FOR LIBERTY TO RALLY ON COURT STEPS From June 13 to June 15 in Dallas, Texas, the summit hosted by Turning Point USA, featured speeches from prominent conservative leaders like TPUSA founder Charlie Kirk, pro-life activist Lila Rose, and women's rights activist and former NCAA swimmer Riley Gaines. When asked what it means to be a conservative woman, Brianna from Texas told Fox it is "so empowering." Mentioning the Republican Party, she added, "And I just love everything that this party stands for and just really hits close to home for me, especially in Texas." Zairiyah from Texas said it means "loving your country, being powerful, and not afraid to speak up." Natasha, who traveled to the convention from Chicago, said it means "staying true to your values, never forgetting God wherever you are in the world… and being as feminine as you can possibly be." 'MAKE AMERICA HOT AGAIN' SOCIALS BRING YOUNG CONSERVATIVE SINGLES TOGETHER IN NEW YORK CITY Taryn from Los Angeles said that conservative women are "pro-economy, pro-family, pro-babies, pro-health." Emma, a Florida native, said conservative women are "strong and resilient and also nurturing at the same time." Several attendees stressed that being conservative is about not bending to peer pressure or to the will of the crowd. "It means to have strong values and to stand up for what you believe in and kind of go against the curve and not fall along with the crowd," Kate, also from Florida, said. The Department of Homeland Security considered it crucial to clear the space surrounding the facility to ensure several government cars could exit safely. 'Last night, Portland rioters violently targeted federal law enforcement — 250 rioters launched fireworks, shined lasers in officers' eyes to temporarily blind them and stormed an ICE field office,' Department of Homeland Security assistant secretary Tricia McLaughlin told Fox News. 'Ultimately, five individuals were arrested on various charges including assault on federal law enforcement. We won't sit idly by and watch these cowards.' She added that assaults on officers have jumped an extraordinary 413 percent. 'Secretary Noem's message to the rioters is clear: you will not stop us or slow us down. 'ICE and our federal law enforcement partners will continue to enforce the law. 'And if you lay a hand on a law enforcement officer, you will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.' Opposition to ICE and Trump's deportation agenda culminated on Saturday in nationwide 'No Kings' protests to coincide with Trump's military parade over his birthday weekend to celebrate the Army's birthday. Organizers of the 'No Kings' demonstrations said millions had marched in hundreds of events, and Portland was no exception. Frustrated residents within the protest zones hunkered down and placed signs on their windows begging demonstrators not to vandalize their homes. MAGA influencer Charlie Kirk sparks outrage with controversial advice to female students

MAGA influencer Charlie Kirk said women should only go to college to find a husband, stirring outrage from critics who lambasted the outspoken political activist. Over the weekend, Kirk took questions at a Turning Point USA-sponsored event in Dallas, Texas, where a 14-year-old girl asked for his advice on attending college and the pros and cons of higher education. After the girl mentioned that she was interested in pursuing a career in political journalism, Kirk asked all the young girls in the audience to raise their hands if their top priority is to 'get married and have kids.' Many of them did raise their hands, including the girl who asked him the question. 'Interestingly, I think there is an argument to bring back the MRS degree,' he said, referencing the slang term for women who go to college solely to find a husband. 'No seriously. And just be clear that's why you're going to college. Don't lie to yourself, like, "Oh, I'm going and studying sociology." No you're not, we know why you're here and that's okay!' Kirk said, grinning. He specifically cited universities in the Southeastern Conference, many of which are known for being party schools, to find a man. 'That's a really good reason to go to college actually, especially an SEC school. You will find a husband if you have the intent to find a husband at Ole Miss,' he said. 'I say college is a scam, but if you find your life partner that's actually a really good reason to go to college.' His comments did not go over well with critics after a clip of his answer spread online. 'This poor girl. She asks Charlie Kirk about her goal to be a political journalist and he tells her to go get an Mrs degree,' author and columnist Jill Filipovic posted on X. 'Charlie Kirk telling a 14-year-old to go to college just to land a husband? That's not advice - it's a time warp,' another user added. 'Women aren't signing up for debt and getting science and math degrees to play 1950s housewife. Let's aim a little higher than an "MRS degree."' Another person joked about Kirk's own lack of a college degree. 'Charlie Kirk should go back to college and actually graduate before he gives others advice about what to do there,' another user wrote. When Kirk turned 18 in 2012, he briefly attended a community college near Chicago before dropping out. The response to Kirk's comments resemble the reaction to Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker's polarizing speech last year to students graduating from a small Kansas college That same year, he founded Turning Point USA, the leading organization advocating for conservative thought at high school and college campuses around the country. Plenty of people on social media agreed with Kirk's message. 'It's not a bad idea though to get your degree and find a husband with similar values. The majority of my friends who did this now have families. Those of us who didn't focus on adding a relationship are still single,' one X user said. 'I got an MRS degree and couldn't be happier. I've told my daughters to consider the same: go to college with the idea that your future job will include motherhood,' another wrote. 'God, I WISH I could have met a husband in college. This is actually really good advice if you weren't just pulling a soundbite he said and taking it out of context,' a third commented. The response to Kirk's comments resemble the reaction to Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker's polarizing speech last year to students graduating from a small Kansas college. Butker told men to be 'unapologetic in your masculinity' and fight 'against the cultural emasculation of men.' He then told the women in the crowd that he assumed the majority of them 'are most excited about your marriage and the children you will bring into this world.'
