90 Day Fiancé's Sarper and Shekinah Swap Wedding for ‘Bedding' Ceremony
90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way stars Sarper Güven and Shekinah Garner have finally wed! And they decided to switch up the traditional wedding ceremony to get married in bed. They had a bedding ceremony! The couple met on a dating site during Season 5 of the show while vacationing in Turkey. Originally Shekinah was supposed to move to Turkey. However, this didn't happen and by the beginning of Season 6, it was revealed that she had to return to the U.S. for work. Sarper followed her on a K1 visa. But that wasn't the end of the drama. As a returning couple on 90 Day Fiancé Season 11, fans watched as they continued to argue. Despite having proposed in Season 6 of The Other Way, the couple still had a lot of issues to resolve before saying 'I Do.' Now we know they made it through. At least to the wedding, or rather bedding portion of the program. The couple decided on having a wedding in bed and honestly, it's really so on brand. The reality duo caught up with TMZ and shared some of the details of their non-traditional bedding ceremony. 'We love being in bed, honestly,' Shekinah 'We spend a lot of time in bed. We don't even have a dining room table, we eat all our meals in bed, we watch a lot of shows.' She paused and then added, 'We were really afraid of marriage actually so it made it a little less scary.' Sarper added that nothing about their relationship was normal so it was expected that their wedding wouldn't be normal or traditional either. The couple also shared that their family was shocked but not surprised when they heard. 'They were shocked,' Shekinah revealed. 'But they also weren't that surprised because they know us. They know that we're going to do something unconventional.' When asked if they would recommend a 'bedding wedding' to other couples, Shekinah was quick to answer, 'No! It's our thing!' This made Sarper laugh as he joked, 'We are selfish son of a b*tches.' The pair's ceremony marks the 90th wedding in the 90 Day Fiancé history. 90 Day Fiancé Season 11 is currently available to stream on Discovery +. TELL US – DO YOU THINK SARPER AND SHEKINAH WILL GO THE DISTANCE? WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THEIR BEDDING CEREMONY? As federal funding cuts hit Harvard, a private investment firm and other donors step up
At a time when Harvard University is experiencing deep cuts to its federal funding and looking for alternative avenues for money, Turkish investment firm, İş Private Equity, committed $39 million over 10 years to support a Harvard faculty member's lab, according to the university. The investment, through the private equity firm's biotech startup, is aimed at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health faculty member Gökhan Hotamışlıgil's work, aiming to create potential therapies for obesity and other metabolic diseases. Read more: Federal judge delays decision over Trump admin barring Harvard foreign students The privately sourced funding could be a highly pursued avenue for the institution, as the federal government strips nearly $3 billion of its federal dollars and additional contracts in the name of addressing antisemitism. 'Harvard Chan School has long welcomed industry collaborations and research sponsorship, with strong guardrails to prevent conflicts of interest,' Andrea Baccarelli, Dean of the Faculty at Harvard Chan School, wrote in a letter to the community last week. Initial funding of Hotamışlıgil's more than 20 years of work came from the National Institutes of Health. It helped uncover new insights about the metabolic system and identified a protein that plays a critical role in obesity and age-related disorders, according to the university. The lab didn't have any current federal grants canceled at the time of the investment firm's announcement, a university spokesperson said. Harvard has also been dealing with a wave of federal research grant terminations and was barred from acquiring new federal grants. While a federal judge on Monday ordered that the Trump administration restore 367 National Institutes of Health grants, it doesn't apply to a broad swath of grants, including the large numbers at Harvard. The Harvard Chan School announced in April that it was facing a 'significant budget crisis' resulting in layoffs and the non-renewal of two building leases. Since then, every one of the school's direct federal grants have been terminated and the school has even taken to social media to ask for donations. Federal funding makes up 46% of Harvard Chan School's budget. At the same time as the investment firm is putting money into Harvard, others have been pitching in as well. Donors have contributed more than $3.5 million in recent weeks and alumni and members of the public have raised $350,000 for Harvard Chan School, according to a letter from Dean Baccarelli. 'Each contribution is a vote of confidence in our mission, our people and our future,' she said. The school also created a new Dean's Leadership Fund for existing donors to support. 'Harvard Chan School will emerge from this crisis a focused, resilient and unambiguously world-class school of public health, dedicated to excellence and impact and strengthened by surprising, solutions-focused partnerships," she wrote. 20 NIH grants restored to UMass system after judge rules against Trump admin Trump admin asks court to rule against Harvard without a trial Federal judge orders Trump admin to reinstate hundreds of NIH grants Federal judge delays decision over Trump admin barring Harvard foreign students Harvard's Monday court date will be important for international students. China evacuates 1,600 from Iran and hundreds from Israel, warns of border congestion
Iranians fleeing the conflict arrive at the Gurbulak-Bazargan border post, seeking to cross into Turkey for safety. (AP pic) BEIJING : China has evacuated more than 1,600 citizens from Iran and hundreds more from Israel, a Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson said on Thursday, as evacuees clog border crossings amid the intensifying conflict between the two countries. Evacuation efforts are continuing and China has maintained communication with Iran, Israel, Egypt and Oman, spokesperson Guo Jiakun told a regular press conference while calling for immediate measures to cool down tensions as soon as possible. China urges parties to the conflict, especially Israel, to immediately cease fire, Guo said. Israel struck a key Iranian nuclear site on Thursday and Iranian missiles hit an Israeli hospital, as the conflict showed no signs of a detente nearly a week after Israel first launched what it called 'pre-emptive strikes' against Iran. The Chinese embassy in Iran renewed calls for citizens to leave the country via land routes, while also warning people about longer immigration processing time as congestion has formed at two border checkpoints – Astara heading into Azerbaijan and Bajgiran into Turkmenistan. Those border crossing points are 490km and 910km away from Tehran, respectively. Chinese people can also leave Iran via Turkey, Armenia and Iraq, the embassy advised. Earlier on Thursday, China's embassy in Israel said it will begin evacuating people in batches from Friday, taking those who want to leave to the Taba Border Crossing into Egypt via bus, about 360 km from Tel Aviv.

Can Philip Morris Rely on Pricing to Drive 2025 EPS Growth?
Philip Morris International PM continues to lean on pricing as a key earnings driver. The company delivered a strong first quarter of 2025, with adjusted earnings per share (EPS) rising 12.7% year over year to $1.69. Pricing contributed 6 percentage points to organic revenue growth of 10.2%, supported by an 8.3% increase in combustible pricing and around 3% in smoke-free products, excluding devices. The company has raised its full-year EPS forecast to $7.36-$7.49. The question is whether pricing alone can sustain that pointed to continued pricing strength in markets like Turkey, Poland and Germany. However, it also noted that gross pricing and negative geographic mix are expected to moderate over the remainder of the year. In the smoke-free category, gross margins expanded 670 basis points to surpass 70%, now standing more than five points above combustibles at the current product and geographic mix. ZYN, a key contributor to smoke-free profit growth, saw shipment volumes rise 63% in the quarter, reinforcing the segment's scale and strategic so, Philip Morris delivered a 180-basis-point gross margin boost from pricing alone, reflecting the effectiveness of its pricing strategy. While pricing gains may be less pronounced in the second half, Philip Morris emphasized continued investments behind its smoke-free growth. With volume and mix improvements already visible in the first quarter, the company appears positioned to support earnings growth through a combination of pricing and product performance. Altria Group MO reported a 10.8% rise in net price realization for combustibles, which supported operating income growth despite steep volume declines. Yet, MO is facing consumer pressure, with many smokers trading down to discount brands, limiting pricing flexibility. In oral nicotine, Altria Group's on! posted 18% shipment growth alongside higher retail prices, but category competition and cost-conscious behavior remain visible Point Brands TPB saw explosive growth in its modern oral segment, with pouch sales increasing nearly tenfold year over year. However, this growth came with mix-driven margin pressure. Turning Point Brands' gross margin declined 220 basis points and it acknowledged the need for further investment to scale brands and improve profitability. With rising freight and tariff costs also in play, Turning Point Brands' pricing power remains limited without additional volume leverage. Shares of Philip Morris have gained 4.9% in the past month compared with the industry's growth of 5.1%. Image Source: Zacks Investment Research From a valuation standpoint, PM trades at a forward price-to-earnings ratio of 23.19X, up from the industry's average of 15.64X. Image Source: Zacks Investment Research The Zacks Consensus Estimate for PM's 2025 earnings implies year-over-year growth of 13.7%, whereas its 2026 earnings estimate indicates a year-over-year uptick of 11.7%.
