Procter & Gamble's specialty beauty CEO exits

Procter & Gamble has announced the departure of Colin Walsh from the role of CEO of its specialty beauty division, effective August 1. John Brownlee, currently SVP of North America hair care, will absorb Walsh's duties while retaining his existing responsibilities, according to a WWD report. Walsh took on the role as CEO of specialty beauty, whose brands include haircare brand Ouai, skincare brand Tula, and First Aid Beauty, in June 2023, one year after P&G launched the division in 2022. Prior to that, Walsh served as CEO of Ouai for three years, after serving as CEO of DevaCurl and holding senior leadership roles at L'Oréal-owned Matrix and Redken, respectively. Last year, Walsh co-founded gut health brand, YayDay, alongside his Ryan Lietar, Tula founder Dr. Roshini Raj. 'Being part of the creation and early development of specialty beauty has been a tremendous opportunity and will always be deeply meaningful to me,' said Walsh, in a statement obtained by the U.S. trade publication. 'I'm grateful for everything I've learned during my time with P&G and for the opportunities I've had to impact the growth and direction of this business, and especially coaching and empowering the talented and inspiring teams of specialty beauty.' A P&G veteran with over two decades of experience at the consumer goods giant, Brownlee worked in varied leadership positions across oral care, skin care, and professional hair before overseeing the North America hair care business. The executive played a crucial role in the U.S. company's acquisition of Mielle Organics, joining the firm's other haircare brands -- Herbal Essences, Head & Shoulders, Native and Pantene. The leadership reshuffles comes just weeks after the world's largest consumer goods firm revealed plans to cut 7,000 jobs over the next two years. The firm said it also plans to exit some product categories and brands in certain markets, including some potential divestitures, as part of the broader two-year restructuring plan.

A lightweight gel cream moisturizer that makes simple skincare feel like a breeze. Just smooth it on and let it leave your face feeling absolutely PLUSH, perfectly softened, and hydrated all the livelong day. Promising review: "This item is amazing!!! It leaves my face so moisturized!" —BriePrice: $9.99+ (available in two sizes) A sport sunscreen spray with SPF 50 because sunburn is so not cool nor worth the pain. Protecting your skin while you break a sweat, however, is always in season, plus it's the base of ALL essential skincare and the spray makes it easy as pie to re-apply. Promising review: "The price was great, and the sunscreen was effective!" —jani62Price: $6.39+ (available in two sizes) A Tula face cleanser that is my absolute favorite (and a rightful cult favorite) and sells every 30 seconds — that's how darn great it is. It leaves your skin feeling fresh, hydrated, and oh-so-glowy without stripping away moisture. Honestly, it's a game changer for anyone serious about their skincare routine, and it couldn't be easier to use. I apply mine every AM and PM. Promising review: "This product is so amazing! I can see the gunk of impurities drying up and coming off once I use an exfoliating scrub! It's phenomenal. I love it!! Second purchase!!" —Ghostface ReviewsPrice: $14+ (available in three sizes) Or an E.l.f. daily cleanser chock full of skin-lovin' ingredients that'll wash away the day while keeping your face fresh, happy, and glowing. My skin is almost 100% clear, and it feels great!" —Kpa145Price: $6 A simple, yet highly effective bag of Epsom salt that's been used for centuries for soaking, soothing sore muscles, and turning one's bathtub into a 5-star spa experience. Simply sit back and enjoy it. Promising review: "Love pouring this into warm water and feeling it dissolve the pains away. Comforting and relaxing all in one. Love how this bag is easy to seal and that it stays sealed!" —MelPrice: $3.99 A water-based Good Molecules hyaluronic acid serum to drench your skin in deep, bouncy hydration, leaving you feeling as plump and dewy as a freshly misted orchid. (No gardening experience required.) 🌺 Promising review: "I usually use a more expensive hyaluronic acid. I ran out, and it was on backorder. I figured for around $6, I'd give this a go in the interim. Dang. This stuff is nice!! I've tried a lot of these serums and have struggled to find ones I like. They're usually sticky, expensive, don't spread well, etc. This one is a little sticky, but a little of it goes a long way, and it's super hydrating. Honestly, if my usual one wasn't already in the mail, I'd cancel it and fully convert over to this one. I probably will after the bottle of the more expensive stuff runs out." —AshleyPrice: $5.99 A Good Molecules Yerba Mate wake-up eye gel that's basically a shot of espresso for your under-eyes, no barista or time wasted waiting in line at (and getting to) the coffee shop required. Reviewers herald it as an absolute lifesaver for dry, stressed-out skin, as it leaves your face hydrated, refreshed, and ready to take on the world (or at least the next step of your routine). Promising review: "This toner has been a game changer for my skincare routine! I love that it's gentle on my skin yet still effectively removes impurities and balances my complexion. Since it's alcohol-free, it doesn't dry out my skin or cause any irritation, which is a big plus. The unscented formula is perfect for anyone with sensitive skin or those who prefer a more neutral experience. I've noticed my skin feels smoother, hydrated, and refreshed after each use. Promising review: "This product fully saved me from my acne. I struggled for so long with deep acne that would pop up and not go away. Now, I put this on right when I see something, and it disappears. I put it on nightly — before moisturizing and after washing my face — where I usually have acne pop up (jawline and chin), and my skin has looked so good. Thankful I found it!" —anonPrice: $31.99 A dark spot remover featuring powerful plant-based acids to gently brighten, exfoliate, and help even skin tone... plus fade away dark spots faster than you can say, "Alexa, please repurchase this." Promising review: "It works with continued and consistent use. It fades away dark spots, no lie. I have no incentive whatsoever to come on here and post a review, but it was that good I had to. I'll be honest, I thought it was going to be another Target run buyer's remorse, but it proved me wrong. God bless!" —Sjjoylove Price: $21 A pack of Neutrogena makeup-removing wipes to prevent mascara stains and makeup streaks (and just general grime, sunscreen, and dirt) from turning your pillowcase into a piece of modern art by morning. These are gentle on your skin, so you don't have to worry about them drying it or causing irritation. Promising review: "Neutrogena face wipes are great for gently removing eye makeup. I also like how cool and smooth they feel on your face as a 'wake up' in the morning." —RozziPrice: $2.19+ (available in three sizes) A jar of Aquaphor healing ointment that's basically the MVP of your affordable skincare stash, as it's soothing, multi-tasking, and always there to save the day (or your lips, cuticles, elbows… you name it). Bonus: it won't leave an annoying white residue behind as it dries completely clear. The hardest task you have? Reapplying every two hours. Promising review: "Amazing!! New staple in my skincare regimen. I added sunscreen to my regimen for a few reasons. I added a new product to help with a few stubborn acne scars. I also have dry sensitive skin, but winter has been kicking my skin's butt this year. By itself, it is very moisturizing without being greasy. Just a small squeeze and you're good. 10/10 recommend!" —Experiment626Price: $19.59 An exfoliating glow tonic perfect for transforming tired, lackluster skin into a vibrant, radiant canvas. Packed with skin-loving ingredients, it gently buffs away dullness while leaving you with a refreshed, lit-from-within glow. Promising review: "This is really good. I don't typically purchase skincare products that are not medical grade, but I had been eyeing this for years and finally decided to cave since it has glycolic acid, and my skin loves glycolic acid. I'm able to use it twice per day and, yes, it works! It gradually made my skin even and glowy. I love how gentle it is, but effective. Will continue using it in my skincare routine." —CatPrice: $15+ (available in two sizes) A Pacifica vitamin C booster serum made with stabilized vitamin C and glycolic acid to help brighten and refresh clogged, dull skin. It does have a bit of a shiny appearance, like Vaseline." —alliePrice: $24.49 A decadent organic facial oil with nourishing botanicals to leave your skin feeling silky smooth and looking absolutely radiant. Apply it directly to your skin or mix it into your cream foundation or primer for a dewy look. Easy peasy. Promising review: "I LOVE this cleanser. I like gel cleansers that feel smooth and gentle, don't strip my skin, don't leave behind a filmy feeling, but leave my skin soft, and this is the perfect one for me." —Deborah HPrice: $22 An anti-chafe balm which makes for a real skin saver on hot days or during long walks and runs. Glide it on in the morning to prevent dreaded friction, redness, and irritation between your thighs. Promising review: "This works great to prevent chafing! Easy to use and convenient size. Smells good, too!" —PomMomPrice: $12.19 A water gel face mask with niacinamide to truly re-dew your complexion at an unbeatable price point (seriously, it's less than your morning latte). Niacinamide can help with acne, enlarged pores, inflammation, and dull spots, among other benefits. Promising review: "I agree, yes, there's a lot of product, but I love it because I would rather have that than barely any. As far as the results…I didn't expect it to tighten and firm my skin so much in just one use!! I'm so impressed and will continue to buy this." —KierraPrice: $3.99 A balancing Hero Cosmetics capsule toner that works to calm, hydrate, and refresh your skin with every swipe. Looking forward to trying their other scents." —DeePrice: $8.69 And a soothing honey and almond gel mask that'll have you saying, "Oh, honey, I look fabulous," when you get a glimpse of yourself after using it. Ideal for all skin types, it's like a nourishing snack for your face. Promising review: "Absolutely love this mask! It smells divine and leaves your skin feeling soft and nourished. I was a bit concerned about it coming off because it's super gooey, but amazingly, it comes off as a foam when you wash it off with warm water." —SuyyennnPrice: $2.19

It's so good, people are snagging it in different colors — and you'll probably want to as well. 😉 A luxury-scented candle beloved by reviewers for how well it fills a space with its incredible aroma and they say you can even smell it while it's not lit! This jasmine, oud, and sandalwood blend is definitely a reviewer fave, but there are sooo many amazing scents to choose from — it's almost impossible to *not* find one (or several) that match your preference. E.l.f.'s moisturizing "Squeeze Me" lip balm because you deserve to serve "I just have naturally glossy, perfect lips" on the daily without dropping $20 on the Laneige lip balm. It's made with hyaluronic acid for extra moisture, tinted for a little color, and flavored as a touch of fun for your inner child. A pair of ~Dreamlux~ leggings made with a stretchy, buttery-soft fabric reviewers compare the quality to Lululemon's Align! If you've been looking for affordable, dependable leggings you can comfortably wear to the gym, running errands, and relaxing at home, then your search is over! Plus, a pair of popular cross-waist leggings that are lightweight, buttery soft, and stretchy — just like the Aerie ones, but without the Aerie price. E.l.f's brand new Lash XTNDR Tubing Mascara that wraps each individual lash in tiny, lightweight "tubes" (hence the name) made of flexible polymers for maximum length and volume. And the real magic happens when you remove it: Instead of smudging or smearing, these tubes cleanly come off with just a little warm water and gentle wiping — so NO raccoon eyes! A bottle of sulfate-free biotin shampoo with over 36,000 5-star ratings? 🤩 Yes, please. And for under $15 — a total steal. The star ingredient, biotin, can help make your hair look fuller, while rosemary and coconut oils swoop in to nourish and moisturize your scalp. CeraVe's resurfacing retinol serum that works like a charm to tackle pesky dark spots, fine lines, and uneven texture. It gently helps renew your skin while keeping things smooth and hydrated, thanks to ceramides and soothing ingredients that help keep irritation at bay. And some reviewers even prefer it over pricier versions (like the $92 Murad Retinol Serum)! A ~weightless~ liquid cream blush for people who are going for the soft, dewy lewk but aren't ready to drop $25 on the Rare Beauty blush. This one stands out for its rich pigmentation and smooth blendability, made even easier with the built-in sponge applicator. Definitely a compliment earner! It's made from thick, supportive fabric with four-way stretch and offers just the right amount of compression without feeling restrictive. A set of luxury hotel bed sheets made from a super soft, moisture-wicking microfiber fabric that usually goes for hundreds of dollars. Reviewers rave about how well it repairs damaged hair, and it's tough to find another mask this effective at such an affordable price. Olaplex doesn't stand a chance. A Cosori gooseneck electric kettle to make brewing the perfect cup of coffee or tea easier. This thing is fancy with five temperature presets to get the perfect amount of warmth for each drink — so you don't have to burn your tongue or wait for your drink to cool down. *And* it has a "hold temp" function that keeps water warm for up to an hour (no more re-boiling) and an automatic shutoff (no more screeching kettles). A Revlon one-step hair dryer and volumizer so you can easily achieve a salon-level blowout right at home without splurging on the Dyson Airwrap. It works on most hair types and textures and gets your hair camera ready in half the time since it simultaneously dries and styles. The amazing results do not match the minimal effort. Marc Anthony "Grow Long" Leave-In Conditioner Spray for detangling while strengthening and nourishing your locks so they can grow to be as long as Rapunzel's. Why bother with several products when you can get everything you need in one spray (complete with biotin, vitamin E, caffeine, and ginseng) instead? It can help reduce dark circles and puffy eyes so you can feel more refreshed. And reviewers love how it doesn't leave behind a greasy residue! A bottle of Nyx setting spray if you're tired of your makeup sliding off halfway through the day. One quick spritz, and this magic mist locks in your look for up to 16 hours with zero shine (just like the beloved Urban Decay setting spray), except this one will leave you with extra funds for a sweet treat. An adorable, roomy duffel bag with quite the resume. It's durable and water-resistant; plus, it has long handles to easily lug it around, a side panel to hook it onto a suitcase, and compartments to keep your wet/dirty clothes separate from your clean ones — check, check, check, and check. It's comparable to the Herschel's duffel, but ya know, is waaay more affordable. A waffle weave "shacket" that's just as stylish as the one from American Eagle. It's lightweight enough for easy layering, but warm enough to keep the chill off during those breezy beach nights or casual evening hangouts. A trio of lip sleeping masks because they essentially do the same thing as the Laneige one (providing deep hydration and nourishment) but for waaay less money *and* you get THREE of them! Now you can bat your eyes as much as you want without worrying about creasing or having spent way too much on the Two Faced version! A set of satin pillowcases that'll have you smiling in your sleep knowing how much you saved getting these instead of dropping over $50 on a single Blissy pillowcase. These create less friction on your hair compared to cotton pillowcases, which helps reduce frizz and breakage; plus, the satin just feels so soft and cool on your skin. A très chic Lululemon-inspired mini belted pack to keep all your daily essentials close by and easily accessible. Don't let its size fool you; this little guy can hold a lot — wallet, phone, earbuds, keys, those all-important snacks — all while keeping you hands-free. Pure Instinct Roll-On infused with pheromones and a soft, musky-sweet scent that reviewers say is just like it's pricier counterpart, Basic Instinct. Just roll a little on your pulse points and let the compliments roll in. A set of elegant cylindrical wineglasses to make drinking any beverage feel like you're celebrating something — and TBH, finding an affordable Crate & Barrel alternative IS cause for celebration. An long-sleeve shirt made with a super soft fabric that has just the right amount of stretch and thickness. Reviewers even compare the quality to Skims, which definitely sets it above all those other plain long sleeves. A sleeveless halter bodysuit so you don't have to splurge on one from Zara or Skims. This versatile piece goes with everything, and I mean everything: shorts, skirts, jeans, sweatpants, leggings, you name it. And it's slightly compressive (similar to shapewear), but without being too restrictive! Honestly, you might just want to stock up on a few colors now. Maybelline's Total Temptation Eyebrow Definer Pencil you'll end up wanting to buy in bulk and you actually can since it's nowhere near as pricey as the Anastasia Beverly Hills' Brow Wiz. The teardrop-shaped tip makes it super easy to shape and fill, while the built-in spoolie blends everything out for that soft, naturally fluffy brow look. A popular set of makeup sponges for perfectly blended foundation, concealer, and any other base makeup. They're super fluffy and bouncy, with many reviewers actually preferring these to the OG Beauty Blender. And honestly, who can blame them? With how well they get the job done and at such an affordable price, they're a total game changer for your makeup routine. A pair of beloved stretchy faux-leather leggings that'll get you the chic leather pant look without the stuffy, constricting feeling. They can be styled with T-shirts and boots for an elevated casual vibe, or a fancy top with heels for going out! A 24/7 interactive Petcube pet camera so you can literally see what your furry friend gets up to when you're not around, complete with a wide-angle view and night vision. And thanks to the two-way audio, you can even check in and tell them they're a good boy (in case they forgot since you told them this morning). If you know what a Furbo is, this is kind of similar — but way more affordable! A lightweight E.l.f.'s Poreless Putty Primer to help minimize the appearance of pores and blemishes — it's like an IRL Facetune smoothing tool (and an amazing alternative for the Tatcha Silk Primer). Reviewers say it helps their makeup look more even and their skin smoother! A slightly cropped half-zip pullover so you can feel cozy and look put together. Reviewers say it's thick and warm, which makes it perfect for chilly summer nights. Plus, the very similar Lululemon one is about three times as much — and we both know you could use that money elsewhere. A six-piece set of high-performance matte lipsticks that'll stay put through eating, drinking, and everything in between, delivering gorgeous color that lasts. As one reviewer put it: "This functions just like the high-priced lip colors you can find at high-end stores and makes it affordable for all!" A pair of gold-plated, hypoallergenic minimalist teardrop earrings you can wear with any 'fit for any occasion — not many accessories can look as equally amazing with a shirt and jeans as they do with a floor-length gown, but these pull it off! They might look similar to the Bottega Veneta ones, but thankfully, they're *much* cheaper. E.l.f. Power Grip Primer that'll have your makeup sticking to your face like its life depends on it. It's infused with hyaluronic acid to keep your skin feeling hydrated and looking plump (just like the Milk's Hydro Grip primer, but for half the price!). Just apply it, wait a quick 30 seconds, and watch as your foundation goes on smoother and lasts way longer than it ever has before. A fuzzy loungewear set so you can relax in style. The matching top, bottoms, and cardigan also make for a cute outfit you can run errands in. Reviewers say the material is soft and stretchy, making it very comfortable. Thank goodness this set is so affordable; otherwise, you'd have to spend over $140 on the Skims version! An extreme-hold Nyx eyebrow gel that'll ensure your brows stay sleek and sculpted from dawn 'til dusk! The wand applicator effortlessly tames your brows and provides a strong hold without any sticky residue. It's ideal for all brow types and perfect for creating anything from bold, defined arches to a natural, groomed look. A dark spot-removing soap bar packed with kojic acid, turmeric, retinol, collagen, and vitamin C — aka the dream team for fading dark spots, evening skin tone, and giving your complexion that ✨lit-from-within✨ vibe. It lathers up nicely, smells great, and is gentle enough for everyday use on your face, underarms, inner thighs, and more. Bonus: This is a way more affordable option than those high-end dark spot treatments out there. A pair of cozy pull-on cushioned boots to keep your feet nice and toasty. These have a soft faux fur lining and memory foam insoles, and reviewers say they are comparable to their Ugg counterparts (which are over $140) in look and comfort. Cushionaire slides that you don't have to break in (I'm looking at you, Birkenstocks) — the flexible cork footbed and cushioned insole means that they are comfortable right out of the box! But if you don't believe me, look at the over 50,000 5-star over 1,000 reviews comparing the support to Birks. L'Oreal's True Match Lumi Glotion so you can glow like a beautiful sunset without spending three times as much on Drunk Elephant's D-Bronzi Drops. This adds a lightweight tint that creates a natural dewy look, perfect for mixing with your favorite moisturizer or layering with foundation!
