Netflix has racked up 15 No. 1 shows in 2025 (so far) — here are the 3 you shouldn't miss
We'll soon be halfway through 2025, and that means Netflix has served up an awful lot of new movies and TV shows to watch. If you've not been able to keep up with Netflix's new releases, but want to try and start catching up on all the new shows you've missed out on, I can help. After all, keeping up with what's worth watching on the best streaming services is literally my job. By scanning through a list of shows that have claimed the top spot in the streamer's most-watched charts throughout 2025 so far, I've put together a brief set of recommendations that I think are most deserving of a spot on your watchlist. If you saw me break down the 10 Netflix No. 1 shows of 2025 to my top three choices earlier this year, you can skip ahead to the recommendations. Otherwise, before I move on, I'll quickly explain how I made my choices. To build the initial list, I headed over to Tudum, where Netflix shares its weekly viewing data (available from the start of 2025 through to June 8, at the time of writing). After noting down the 15 shows that have risen to the top spot in a given week, I then whittled that list down to just three picks. Because Netflix only gives us weekly data, I do have a couple of favorites that didn't fit into my criteria — I'd love to be spotlighting 'The Residence' and 'Dept. Q' — but rules are rules. So, with the methodology explained, I'll move on to my top three Netflix No. 1 shows of 2025 (so far) I recommended 'Adolescence' last time around, but I couldn't bring myself to replace it just yet, thanks in no small part to the massive impact the four-part series has had. This powerful limited series sees 'Boiling Point' star Stephen Graham and creator Philip Barantini reuniting to tell the story of a fictional family whose world is turned upside down when their 13-year-old son, Jamie (Owen Cooper), is arrested for the murder of a fellow female pupil. Since its release, 'Adolescence' has become the No. 2 Most Popular English-language TV show (second only to 'Wednesday') and has sparked conversations about young people, healthy relationships and online radicalization. 'Adolescence' isn't just worthy of a mention owing to that impact, though. It's also an expertly crafted and brilliantly performed series in its own right, and one that you shouldn't miss out on. It's not a 'fun' series, as such, but it has lingered in my memory long after streaming it back in March. Watch "Adolescence" on Netflix now If you're into "The White Lotus" brand of shows — TV series that whisk us away to luxury settings, and revolve around enigmatic or off-kilter affluent ensembles, with mysteries or secrets just waiting to come to the fore — then Molly Smith Metzler's glossy dark comedy "Sirens" should be on your radar. Set over Labor Day weekend, "Sirens" sees us following Devon DeWitt (Meghann Fahy) to the lavish estate of socialite Michaela Kell (Julianne Moore). She's there because she thinks the Kells have brainwashed her younger sister Simone (Milly Alcock), who resides on-site as Michaela's live-in assistant. The problem is, Michaela proves to be a far more formidable opponent than Devon expected.... It might not have been as well-received as Metzler's previous Netflix creation, "Maid," but "Sirens" remains a worthy watch. It's a dark dramedy that's equal parts intriguing, dramatic, emotional, and, crucially, very funny, and can be powered through in a matter of hours. In my eyes, it's one of Netflix's best new originals of the year. Watch "Sirens" on Netflix now "The Four Seasons" is a hilarious eight-part comedy from Tina Fey, Lang Fisher, and Tracey Wigfield. The series is based on the 1981 Alan Alda movie of the same name, and sees us accompanying a group of friends played by an impressive cast that includes the likes of Fey, Steve Carell, Will Forte and Colman Domingo. When the gang discovers that one of the three couples is about to call it quits, the entire group is upended by the news. The series plays out across a year and across four vacations, and shows how that decision affects the whole dynamic. It's easy, warm, and witty viewing: what more could you want? Netflix is letting fans step into their favorite shows with new themed ‘houses'
For years, streaming audiences have let Netflix into their homes. Now, the subscription platform is opening its doors to fans as part of its latest string of in-person experiences. The South Bay media company is launching three permanent retail spaces, called Netflix Houses, packed with games, food, exclusive merchandise and more in an effort to create 'immersive story-driven experiences,' according to the platform. The first two Netflix Houses are set to open later this year in Dallas and Philadelphia, with a third slated for the Las Vegas Strip in 2027. Each space is expected to span more than 100,000 square feet and will spotlight a different selection of Netflix's hit shows and films. 'This is fandom coming to life, where you can actually step inside the worlds you've been watching and loving for years,' Marian Lee, Netflix's chief marketing officer, said in a statement. 'With fresh experiences dropping regularly, there's always a new reason to come back.' Fans can sign up online to be alerted about early access to tickets to the daytime experience. Philadelphia's Netflix House, located in the King of Prussia Mall, will include a 'twisted tour' of the Eve of the Outcasts Festival from the horror series 'Wednesday' and a 'high-stakes race' toward a mysterious Devil Fruit from the live action adaptation of 'One Piece,' in addition to virtual reality games from Sandbox VR, Top 9 mini golf and a Tudum theater for screening events. The Galleria Dallas location will allow fans to journey through a 'Stranger Things' backdrop to solve a mystery and face off with friends in 'Squid Game' activities. It will also feature a game room complete with physical challenges, arcade games and more. Both locations will include Netflix Bites, a restaurant that serves themed food and drinks, as well as a merchandise store. No details on the Las Vegas Netflix House have been announced, but a Netflix Bites opened inside the MGM Grand earlier this year.

Netflix set to launch third themed venue in Las Vegas
Netflix said on Tuesday it will launch a third themed entertainment venue in 2027, this time in Las Vegas, as the company looks to broaden its brand presence and profile beyond streaming. The 'Netflix House' allows fans to immerse themselves in the worlds of their favorite shows and movies and will include themed gift shops featuring exclusive merchandise and restaurants. The streaming giant's latest initiative enables it to generate additional revenue and diversify its business model, increasing customer loyalty and strengthening Netflix's market position by innovating in the entertainment space. The first two Netflix Houses will open in Philadelphia at King of Prussia Mall and in Dallas at Galleria Dallas in late 2025. Netflix 'Tudum' fan event reflects studio investment in global streaming 'This is fandom coming to life, where you can actually step inside the worlds you've been watching and loving for years,' marketing chief Marian Lee said. The location in Philadelphia will debut experiences based on popular titles called 'Wednesday: Eve of the Outcasts' and 'ONE PIECE: Quest for the Devil Fruit.' The Dallas venue will house immersive experiences titled 'Stranger Things: Escape the Dark' and 'Squid Game: Survive the Trials.'

Netflix's next mystery thriller series drops a trailer — and I can't wait to see Eric Bana hunting a killer
If you were one of the many people who tuned into Netflix's "American Primeval" earlier this year, the streaming service just dropped an intense teaser trailer for creator Mark L. Smith's next Netflix project — and it's streaming soon. Created with Elle Smith ("The Marsh King's Daughter"), "Untamed" is billed as a "character-driven mystery thriller" that revolves around a murder in the grounds of Yosemite National Park. In this six-episode series, we'll see Eric Bana step into frame as Kyle Turner, an Investigative Services Branch agent on the hunt for a killer. The problem is, the murderer apparently knows the park as well as Turner does ... and there are dark, dangerous secrets lurking in both the park and Turner's past. The above "Untamed" teaser naturally shows us some stunning scenes from the park itself... but that tense, rising score hints that something sinister is afoot. And when Bana tells a colleague, "Things happen different out here," the trailer pivots, offering a montage of stars, snatches of action, a decomposed body, and a bone-crunching sound as someone flings themself into a tree. It's not much to go on, but as a tone-setting piece, it looks intense. And if you can't wait to see the mystery solved, you'll be pleased to know "Untamed" premieres exclusively on Netflix on Thursday, July 17. Netflix has already released a short plot summary of what to expect from "Untamed." It reads: "A character-driven mystery-thriller that follows Kyle Turner (played by [Eric] Bana), a special agent for the National Parks Service who works to enforce human law in nature's vast wilderness. The investigation of a brutal death sends Turner on a collision course with the dark secrets within the park, and in his own past." As you've seen above, Turner is accompanied on his investigation by Naya, a mother who's swapped her life in Los Angeles for life as a rookie park ranger. 'Because Vasquez is new to the park, we get to see the park through her eyes,' co-showrunner Elle Smith tells Tudum. 'We get to understand what this job is, and see the beauty of the park, but also the dangers.' In addition to Bana, "Untamed" also stars Sam Neill as Yosemite's chief park ranger, Paul Souter, Rosemarie DeWitt as Turner's ex-wife, Jill Bodwin, and Wilson Bethel as Shane Maguire, a former army ranger who's now the park's wildlife management officer. Netflix Moves Forward with 'Heartstopper' Movie
When season 3 of the hit Netflix show Heartstopper left several loose ends untied, fans understandably expected that it would mean the show would be returning for another season. As it turns out, that is not the case, but the story will still reach a conclusion. After season 3 of the show concluded in October of last year, the future of the Heartstopper franchise was a bit uncertain. However, the streaming service recently announced that the story would conclude not with another season, but with a feature film. This week, that project took a big step forward as the upcoming movie officially began filming. Alice Oseman, who wrote the novels on which the screen adaptation is based, recently expressed her excitement about the upcoming film. 'The movie will be an exploration of time, memory, love, pain, the changing of the seasons, endings and beginnings, and the core element of Heartstopper: the ordinary magic of our everyday lives,' Oseman told Tudum during a recent interview. 'We've been working towards and hoping for this moment since we wrapped production of Season 3 at the end of 2023. There has been a huge amount of dedication and determination behind the scenes to get to this point. I've seen how frustrated and worried fans have been about whether we'd get to tell the end of the story — I've had messages asking about it every single day since Season 3 dropped! So I'm incredibly relieved that the answer is YES.' 'On a basic level, of course, I want the movie to be a beautiful and emotional send-off for the Heartstopper story — celebrating what Heartstopper means to people, a chance to say goodbye to our beloved characters, and many hints of what's to come in the characters' future lives.'
