Did Orlando Pirates find Saleng's replacement?

Orlando Pirates have reportedly signed AmAzulu winger Tshepang Moremi, who could potentially replace Monnapule Saleng. The 27-year-old speedy winger has not played for the Buccaneers since December of last year. Reports indicate that Saleng has been absent due to a salary dispute, as he has requested a review of his contract, which would require the club to increase his wages. Although Saleng hasn't appeared in a match for Orlando Pirates in six months, he is often seen training with the team. It remains uncertain whether he will play for the club again. This week, it was announced that AmaZulu player Moremi has joined the Buccaneers on a three-year deal, with an option to extend for an additional two years. Usuthu confirmed on Friday the departure of Tshepang Moremi, along with two loanees from Mamelodi Sundowns. 'We wish Tshepang all the best as he embarks on a new chapter in his career,' said AmaZulu director of football, Pedro Dias. 'Additionally, the club would like to acknowledge the return of Etiosa Ighodaro and Sifiso Ngobeni to their parent club, Mamelodi Sundowns FC, following the conclusion of their loan spells,' a club statement read. Usuthu also announced that they parted ways with 16 other players but it seems unlikely that the Buccaneers will pounce on any of them, Besides Saleng, Orlando Pirates have a number of wingers in their squad such as Relebohile Mofokeng and Mohau Nkota. Moremi should face stiff competition but given the number of competitions the Buccaneers are involved in, he should start enough matches next season. Orlando Pirates news: Maswanganyi, Moremi, Saleng, Mayele

Orlando Pirates have moved swiftly to secure several players ahead of next season — but their offseason plans are just getting started. AmaZulu star Tshepang Moremi is arguably on top of the Buccaneers' shopping list, but they face competition from Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns, meaning securing his services will be no easy feat. Congolese international Fiston Mayele is another target of theirs. However, the club is said to have backed out of the race after his price tag exceeded R70 million. Early into the 2024/25 season, it was reported that former PSL Player of the Year Patrick Maswanganyi was eager to move to Europe. However, the current offseason has provided no updates on this potential transfer. 'He [Maswanganyi] is ready for Europe,' said his former mentor Farouk Khan. 'Even himself as a player, he really wants to play there. You know if Orlando Pirates can allow him to go then it won't benefit only Pirates from the sale but also the player himself and the country. He could have stayed longer in Portugal, but he was impatient that time, 'You know many players from Brazil, Argentina, and most other African countries use Portugal as a springboard to bigger leagues in Europe and he could have been patient then things could have worked out for him that time. But nothing is lost. He can still go now and make it big. He is ready for Europe.' Monnapule Saleng seems certain for an exit this winter having not played in the PSL since last November. However, the player has received little interest at this moment in time. Let us know by leaving a comment below, or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 021 1. Latest update: Bafana winger to Orlando Pirates

Orlando Pirates are set to have a new right-footed and speedy winger in the 2025/26 Betway Premiership season. A deal to sign Tshepang Moremi from AmaZulu is as good as done, thanks to the Sharpville-born player's three goals and seven assists in 28 matches during the 2024/25 season. According to FARPost, Orlando Pirates are moving earnestly and purposefully towards getting the deal done. Ex-Orlando Pirates star says Amakhosi have signed great players Tshepang Moremi making his official debut for Bafana Bafana against Tanzania at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on 6 June 2025. Image: 'AmaZulu and Orlando Pirates are finding each other with their discussions regarding Tshepang Moremi,' a source told the outlet. Kaizer Chiefs warned on Percy Tau 'I don't see anything that can stop the deal from happening because Orlando Pirates are very serious about signing Moremi. 'They are seeing him as a player who can come in for the next season and add value as they try to compete locally and on the African continent,' he concluded. Moremi, who hails from the same town as Relebohile Mofokeng, is the only AmaZulu footballer who played in each and every single Betway Premiership match for Usuthu last season.
