Hollywood star Keanu Reeves accused of grappling theft as coach Firas Zahabi fires back at the actor

Keanu Reeves (Photo by Axelle/Bauer-Griffin/Getty Images) and Firas Zahabi (Photo via Tristar Gym) The Tristar gym in Canada has produced some of the greatest UFC champions ever, including Kevin Lee, Robert Whittaker, Alex Garcia, Vitor Belfort, and Georges St-Pierre. Trained under the main coach, Firas Zahabi , these fighters have achieved commendable heights throughout their careers. However, Zahabi's influence seemed to have extended beyond the Octagon and left a mark on the world of Hollywood as well. In a recent video, the coach accused Hollywood star Keanu Reeves of stealing Zahabi's movie and copying it in the famous franchise, John Wick. Tristar gym coach Firas Zahabi explains the web guard while accusing Keanu Reeves of stealing his signature move Keanu Reeves has made a successful career for himself in the world of cinema, especially through the franchises John Wick and The Matrix. It is also said that the actor had gained some form of training in martial arts for these movies in order to pull off certain stunts himself. The results of his hard work can be seen on screen, with success coming from each of these movie franchises. However, in a video uploaded on the official YouTube channel of the Tristar gym, coach Firas Zahabi could be seen accusing the actor of stealing the coach's moves in one of the John Wick movies. Zahabi, a few weeks ago, found out, while training with a student with the same name as Keanu, that the actor was born in Beirut, Lebanon. Following this revelation, the coach was surprised as he realised that a fellow Lebanese had copied his movie, for which he had not been compensated yet. 'It was a great move; it's called the web guard.' Zahabi explained his move, 'I used to call it the web guard. I used to rush people, punching and kicking, and then whenever they would grab a hold of me, if they grabbed me with an underhook, I would jump web guard. If I grab them with an underhook, I could also do it, so it didn't matter to me, which is what I loved. As soon as we tied up, I can get the fight to the ground.' He demonstrated the move through a tutorial video before moving on to showcasing the exact scene where Reeves had done the same move. The coach stated the major reason why he stopped doing that move was the opponent's knee getting bent, and there was a risk of permanent damage.' by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Google Brain Co-Founder Andrew Ng, Recommends: Read These 5 Books And Turn Your Life Around Blinkist: Andrew Ng's Reading List Undo That time Keanu Reeves stole my jiujitsu move 'I put this move out of circulation. But then a man by the name of Keanu Reeves, the man actually dared to rip me off. Now, I'm used to the white man stealing from me, but if he's a fellow Lebanese, that's the problem.' Zahabi continued, 'Now that I know he's a fellow Lebanese, I must insist that I collect from him. When the white man steals from me, I'm not so upset. I expect it! But a fellow Lebanese? This cannot go unpunished. He jumps web guard in the movie. Long story short, Keanu, you owe me massari. I am coming to collect' Also read: What's next in the Octagon: UFC fight cards for May 2025 While the movement in both clips, as seen in the video by Zahabi, looks similar, there has been no response from Reeves to the video as of yet. Only time will tell if the coach will be compensated for the move or if the accusation will be gone unheard.

Georges St-Pierre hails Belal Muhammad as the 'complete package' ahead of UFC 315 main event

Current titleholder Belal Muhammad has the support of former UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre , who called him the complete package as he prepares for his first title defence against Jack Della Maddalena at UFC 315 . Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Canadian MMA legend believes Belal Muhammad's well-rounded skill set will be a big advantage in the championship bout against him, set for May 10 at the Bell Centre in Montreal. Georges St-Pierre praises Belal Muhammad's versatile fighting arsenal In an interview, Georges St-Pierre analysed the stylistic matchup between Belal Muhammad and Jack Della Maddalena, noting that while the Australian challenger may have an edge in striking, the fight extends beyond just stand-up exchanges. "Belal is the complete package—he's good everywhere," St-Pierre stated. "He's got a very awkward style that throws a lot of people off, especially in the striking department." The UFC Hall of Famer emphasised that Belal Muhammad's diverse skill set makes him particularly dangerous in a mixed martial arts context rather than a pure striking battle. The overall dynamics of mixed martial arts favour Belal Muhammad, Georges St-Pierre said, adding that while Jack Della Maddalena may have an edge in the striking department, Belal Muhammad also has an edge in the grappling department. Since the contest is not restricted to kickboxing, St-Pierre said Muhammad will be able to take advantage of the greater skill set needed in MMA. Championship experience may prove decisive in Montreal showdown The welterweight championship clash is a fascinating clash of styles. Leon Edwards was dethroned by Belal Muhammad at UFC 304 last July, and, after 10 fights without a defeat, he enters the Octagon on a remarkable streak. Jack Della Maddalena, who has secured his title shot after seven straight wins in the UFC, 12 of his 17 professional wins by knockout, also enters the Octagon on a remarkable streak. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now In the case of Georges St-Pierre, who will be in attendance at UFC 315 to corner his Tristar teammate Aiemann Zahabi, beating a champion such as Belal Muhammad is a puzzle that's hard to solve. Success against the champion, Georges St-Pierre added, is all down to 'cracking the code,' and nobody has managed to do so yet, which is why he is at the top. Both Belal Muhammad and Georges St-Pierre have received similar criticism throughout their careers, with fans accusing the two of 'boring', methodical, wrestling-heavy methods, even though they've been effective. Belal Muhammad himself admitted to this parallel on The Grin Reaper's podcast, admitting that, like GSP before him, winning is still more important than entertainment value. The main card of UFC 315 will be available on pay-per-view through ESPN+ on Saturday, May 10, for fans to watch live from the Bell Center in Montreal. Also Read: Georges St-Pierre's strategic knowledge and the historical aspect of bringing the welterweight title back to Montreal also ensure that this championship showdown will be a technical masterclass that could also help cement Belal Muhammad's legacy in the division where the Canadian icon reigned.

Tristar launches Sustainability Report at IOD Global Convention

Dubai, UAE: Energy logistics titan, the Tristar Group, launched its 2024 Sustainability Report at the opening of the UAE Global Convention of the Institute of Directors (IOD), India. The annual report, now in its 13th edition, was ratified by dignitaries from India and UAE in attendance at the prestigious event, currently underway in Dubai. The theme of the four-day event, 'Boards in a Rapidly Changing World: Innovative Strategies for Resilience and Sustainability', served as a fitting backdrop for the launch of Tristar's Sustainability Report with the theme, Creating Value with Sustainable Investments. 'It is the dynamic interplay of corporate ethos and collaborative engagement that propels sustainability,' explains Eugene Mayne, Tristar's Founder and Group CEO. 'It is also about long-term viability not short-term victories, and our efforts are underpinned by multiple factors: technology, social equity, climate resilience, value creation, and like-minded partnerships.' 'On a futuristic note, we are investing heavily in scaling up gas, hydrogen and cryogenics logistics to solidify our frontrunning position in sustainable transportation,' he added. The hefty report highlights the Group's wide-ranging ESG projects and activities across five business verticals, and operations spanning more than 30 countries. The measurable and comparative results have been audited and adhere to various global frameworks like the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs), Global Logistics Emissions Council (GLEC) and GRI Sustainability Reporting Standards. The opening day of the annual IOD convention was held on April 22 to coincide with Earth Day, and this year's theme, Our Power. Our Planet, was a reminder of the urgency of adopting sustainable business practices. As keynote speaker at the event, Mayne reiterated his message to the delegates: 'The way we operate business and industry needs to shift – from doing less harm, towards doing more good.'
