Groundbreaking WWE star hails TNA championship as 'best in all of wrestling'

To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video WWE superstar Trick Williams has blasted fans for TNA Wrestling 'outsiders' over him. The 31-year-old star made history last month by becoming the first ever WWE-contracted wrestler to win the TNA Wrestling World Championship, which he'll defend tonight at Against All Odds. He'll be taking on Elijah, AKA Elias, after beating TNA's Mike Santana on NXT earlier this week, and Trick exclusively told Metro how he's embracing his hectic schedule and enjoying performing for a new crowd. 'Shoot, that's what I want, you know? I mean, I want to see many people as possible. I don't want to get stuck in just the Performance Center,' he admitted. 'I love the Performance Center. They've been great to me – but shoot, as we can see, they can turn on you any minute. I gave blood, sweat and tears for four years. 'Look at them now, they're cheering for Mike Santana, an outsider. Ain't been here, ain't got his feet wet! So, yeah, I want to go see other people. Orlando's been good to me, but shoot, they change… I'll change up too.' The two-time NXT Champion, who also has a run with the NXT North American Title to his name, also insisted he isn't simply carrying on the TNA World Championship legacy. The prestigious title has been held by the likes of Kurt Angle, Samoa Joe, AJ Styles, LA Knight, Nick Aldis and maybe more over the years, but Trick isn't looking at the past. 'I ain't continuing nothing. I'm starting my own legacy. I mean, you're right – Kurt Angle had the title, LA Knight had the title, Bubba Ray Dudley had the title. 'We can go all day, but the thing is, has it ever been a big of a deal as it is right now? I mean, the TNA Title is literally the best title to have in all of wrestling today.' On-screen, fans have seen Trick bring hip-hop into his wrestling persona, 'dropping diss tracks' on the likes of former champ Joe Hendry and Santana. 'I just moved into a house, and as I'm moving and packing, I found a journal that I had since sixth grade, of my raps that I was writing way back in the day,' he beamed. 'I'm really doing this on TV now, I'm dropping diss tracks on my opponents. Who would have known that skill, or that passion, something I love so long ago, was gonna be something that I use to humiliate my opponents?' His next challenger is superstar Elijah (AKA Elias), who has dealt with his rivals in a similar way across WWE and TNA. When it comes to actually getting in the ring, Trick isn't fazed. 'I've known him for a while. He's a strong guy. He's an athlete. He's wise beyond his years. He's swole, he done put on some weight, he looks good,' he said. 'Truth is, there's one Trick Williams. [Elijah] straps on his boots same way I strap on my boots. I'm ready to go to war.' Trick's been well-prepped for moments like this, under the tutelage of NXT boss and WWE icon Shawn Michaels. 'I've been working for him for four or five years now, and it's just cool to see our relationship actually grow,' he added. 'I get to sit down with him now, and the feeling of him actually trusting me to go out there and do what I'm supposed to do. [But] I don't know if I got all this trust yet.' Another key figure for Trick has been Booker T, another Hall of Famer who has been vocal behind the scenes – and the commentary desk. More Trending 'He's been a great mentor for me,' he said. 'He verbalises all the support every single week, that's just an extension of who he truly is and how he helps me behind the scenes.' Now, Trick is repaying that faith by representing WWE with TNA gold around his waist. 'TNA is a magical place,' he admitted. 'I'm able to spread my wings and be exactly who I always wanted to be. Even more so now you've put his gold on me, you really can't tell me nothing! My head is all the way through the building.' View More » Against All Odds airs tonight at 3am on TNA+. WWE NXT Battleground 2025: Trick Williams creates history, beats Joe Hendry to win the TNA World Championship

No one could have imagined this day. A TNA World Championship match not only happening at a WWE event but also closing the show. But that's exactly what went down at NXT Battleground 2025 in Tampa, Florida, where Trick Williams defeated Joe Hendry in the main event to become the new TNA World Champion. It was the first time the TNA World Title was defended on a WWE Premium Live Event. And by the end of the night, it was also the first time an active WWE Superstar won that title. Trick Williams has etched his name in wrestling history. Controversial finish in a wild NXT Battleground main event The match itself had everything. Big entrances, loud chants, hard hits, and even a spot where Trick put Hendry through the announce table. Hendry, the face of TNA, had the crowd behind him, but Trick wasn't fazed. He brought the energy and aggression that made him a two-time NXT Champion. EVERYTHING has changed... 😱Trick Williams just made HISTORY in Tampa! #WWEBattleground As expected in a Joe Hendry match, the build-up was full of humour and spectacle. But when the bell rang, it got serious quickly. Hendry looked to finish things with the Standing Ovation, but Trick saw it coming. Moments earlier, the TNA belt had been brought into the ring. Trick didn't use it directly as a weapon, and the referee didn't see anything illegal. But Hendry was driven face-first into the title. That was enough. Trick hit one final Trick Shot and pinned Hendry to win the TNA World Championship. The crowd exploded. Even with the questionable ending, it was a moment that will be remembered for years. #AndNew TNA World Champion @_trickwilliams #WWEBattleground @WWENXT Joe Hendry may still be the heart of TNA, but on this night, Trick Williams stood tall as a champion from another company, holding a title no WWE Superstar ever had before. And he did it on WWE turf. History was made, and Trick Williams became the name everyone will remember from Battleground 2025.

Trick Williams Makes History, Wins TNA World Championship At NXT Battleground

AND NEW — NXT's Trick Williams is the new TNA Champion! Trick Williams defeated TNA's Joe Hendry to win the title at NXT Battleground in Tampa. The final moments of the match saw Trick bring the title into the match, but the referee stopped him from using it. Hendry tried to take advantage with a rollup, but Trick kicked out. Advertisement The ref got the title out of the ring as Hendry went for the Standing Ovation. However, this allowed Trick to rake Hendry behind the ref's back. Williams then hit a Trick Shot and made the cover to win. Williams looked shocked at picking up the win, as was the crowd in Tampa, which included TNA President Carlos Silva. Trick Williams makes history with TNA title win This is Trick Williams' first championship win outside of WWE/NXT, where he is a two-time NXT Champion and a one-time NXT North American Champion. Williams is not only the first WWE contracted talent to win the TNA World Championship, but this was the first time in history that the title changed hands outside of TNA. (AEW's Kenny Omega also won the TNA Championship while under contract with AEW, but that title change took place at TNA Rebellion 2021.) Advertisement Joe Hendry's first TNA World Championship reign ends at 126 days. He initially won the title from Nic Nemeth at TNA Genesis on January 19, 2025. Shawn Michaels recently put over Trick Williams as one of the two men he would consider being 'Mr. NXT.' Michaels also told Brad Gilmore of Reality of Wrestling he expects Williams to be a RAW or SmackDown star in the future. 'Look, I think it's a toss-up on our men's side. I think they'd probably argue about it, but I think Trick Williams and Oba Femi are two guys with — Trick has unlimited charisma, but Oba also has a mystique and an aura about him. They're two very different individuals, but they're both guys that are easily superstars that people see are going to be Raw and SmackDown superstars in the very near future, I'm sure.' Shawn Michaels might not have seen him being a TNA Impact regular, but that might be the case now! Michaels also named his 'Ms. NXT' but that pick was less of a toss-up. In Two New Works, the Power of Generational Connections

Adam Gwon's new musical, 'All the World's a Stage,' is an unassuming, 100-minute marvel that follows a closeted math teacher at a rural high school in the 1990s. Like some of that decade's gay-themed indie movies, including the earnest 'Edge of Seventeen' and 'Trick,' this musical is not looking to reinvent the wheel with its storytelling, but is charming, specific and appealing in its rendering of gay life outside the mainstream. Ricky (Matt Rodin), a 30-something teacher with a new job, befriends a kind secretary, Dede (Elizabeth Stanley), and meets Sam (Eliza Pagelle), a rebellious student in whom he finds a kindred love of theater and simmering need to break free from societal expectations. They bond over 'Angels in America,' the new risqué play and the source of her monologue for an acting scholarship audition. But her selection threatens the school administration's conservative sensibilities. At the same time, Ricky is striking up a romance with Michael (Jon-Michael Reese), the owner of a gay-friendly bookstore in a slightly more progressive town where he's settled down. When Ricky's two worlds inevitably collide, they do so with well-crafted wit. Gwon's yearning, pop-classical score flows together beautifully, yet is composed of numbers distinct enough to allow the four excellent cast members to flex their skills. That balance between individuality and unity proves a key theme, expressed in the title's idea that each of us is always adapting our performance across circumstances. (He also has fun with some clever lyrics, at one point setting up 'hara-kiri' to seemingly rhyme with 'Shakespearean.') The director Jonathan Silverstein draws warm portrayals from his troupe (matched by a quartet playing onstage) in his modest, efficiently staged Keen Company production at Theater Row. Jennifer Paar's costumes are instantly evocative; button-up shirts and wire-frame glasses for the teacher and bomber jackets for his pupil. Patrick McCollum's movement work is gently expressive and Steven Kemp's scenic design is similarly to-the-point, with a bookcase or chalkboard rolled in as needed, a lone student desk and an American flag hanging ominously in the corner. Gwon locates in each of his archetypal characters a unifying love of art. Whether it's Dede's penchant for schmaltz like 'The Notebook,' or the radical zines Michael sells, they all seek escape through culture. This disarmingly powerful show aims for the same, and lovingly succeeds. At the Bushwick Starr in Brooklyn, Shayok Misha Chowdhury is engaging in his own generational classroom performance in 'Rheology.' Chowdhury, a writer and director whose 2023 play 'Public Obscenities' wove together academia and deep sentiment, this time enlists his mother, the physicist Bulbul Chakraborty, for a theatrical take on exposure therapy. The short, presentational piece in which they both star is clear in its ambitions: Chowdhury cannot bear the thought of losing his mother, so decides to see what staging her death might feel like. How this all unfolds is its own delight, with a lively structure that's a mishmash of scientific lectures, traditionally staged scenes and meditations on how the two have grown closer by seeing each other passionately pursue their work. Mother and son have a natural stage presence that prompted me to consider the nature and reality of performance. (When I saw the show, just as I thought it was all too heady, an audience member ran out crying during a frank discussion of parent mortality.) As in 'Public Obscenities,' Chowdhury plays with form and language. The show is performed in English and Bangla, and uses supertitles, live camera feeds, singing, and a cello accompaniment, by George Crotty, reminiscent of the melodrama in both Bollywood and in Bernard Herrmann's film scores. Krit Robinson's lablike set, Mextly Couzin and Masha Tsimring's lighting, Tei Blow's sound and Kameron Neal's video designs shine in a surreal moment toward the end. Like his earlier works, 'Rheology,' named after the study of the flow behavior of substances, combines Chowdhury's Bengali heritage and knack for rigor (his father, too, was a scientist) with his own artsier, more American tastes. For a promising artist in New York theater, it feels like a special new intervention in the sandbox he's claimed for his exploration.

10-3-2-1 trick that helps fall asleep instantly

To say that sleeping is extremely important for the rest and restoration of our mind and brain, is an understatement. While doctors advise most adults to sleep 7-8 hours a day, some people struggle to sleep well, often tossing and turning for hours in the bed, before eventually dozing off, only to have their alarm go off in a few hours, making them groggy and irritated. If this sounds like you, then a new sleep routine, called the 10-3-2-1 Trick might help. Here's how... What is the 10-3-2-1 Trick? The 10-3-2-1 trick is a structured bedtime routine (that lasts through the day incidentally), that helps your body and mind prepare for restful sleep. Each number stands for a specific rule to follow in the hours before you go to bed. By sticking to these simple steps, you can improve your sleep quality, and wake up refreshed, ready to take on the day... Let's start 10 hours before bed: No caffeine Stop consuming caffeine-like coffee, tea, cola, and chocolate-at least 10 hours before bedtime (No, 6 hours prior is not enough now) Caffeine can stay in your system for a long time and block the hormone that makes you feel sleepy. This helps your body start winding down naturally. This in essence means that one should restrict their caffeine consumption to just breakfast/mid morning, and no later than that. 3 Hours Before Bed: No heavy meals/alcohol Avoid heavy meals and alcohol three hours before you sleep. Eating late or drinking alcohol can disturb your digestion, and interrupt sound sleep, making you groggy in the morning. Give your body time to process food and drinks before lying down. 2 hours before bed: Put away that work laptop Wind up all your work tasks, emails etc, at least two hours before bedtime. Work-related stress can keep your mind active and make it hard to relax. Use this time to unwind with calming activities like light stretching, meditation, or reading. 1 Hour Before Bed: No gadgets Turn off all screens-phones, TVs, and computers-one hour before you go to sleep. The blue light from screens can suppress melatonin, the hormone that helps you fall asleep. Instead, try relaxing activities such as reading a book, journaling, or listening to soothing music. Wake up feeling refreshed This method addresses the most common things that disturb sleep: caffeine, late meals, stress, and screen time. By gradually reducing outside stimulation and allowing your body to relax, you're more likely to fall asleep quickly and enjoy deeper, more restful sleep. Over time, you'll notice the changes in yourself, leading to a more productive and healthy you. Tips to make this work Stick to a regular sleep schedule, even on weekends. Keep your bedroom cool, dark, and quiet. Try gentle stretching or meditation before bed. Avoid hitting the snooze button in the morning, to help set your body's natural rhythm.
