Beyoncé's First Country Smash Returns As Her Tour Travels The Globe

Beyoncé's 'Texas Hold 'Em' returns to the U.K. charts after her Cowboy Carter Tour wraps in that ... More country, and the album it supports continues to climb. LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA - FEBRUARY 02: Beyoncé accepts the Best Country Album award for "COWBOY CARTER" onstage during the 67th Annual GRAMMY Awards at Arena on February 02, 2025 in Los Angeles, California. (Photo byfor The Recording Academy) Beyoncé recently wrapped the U.K. leg of her Cowboy Carter Tour, which included six nights at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London. Fans of the global superstar in England showed their continued enthusiasm for her latest musical chapter by not just showing up in person, but returning to the music she's currently on the road promoting. Following the anticipation for her concerts, her first country smash 'Texas Hold 'Em' resurfaces on the charts. This week, the track returns to a pair of rankings in the United Kingdom — though just barely. 'Texas Hold 'Em' reappears on the Official Singles Downloads chart at No. 97 this week, and lands at No. 100 on the Official Singles Sales list. Beyoncé previewed her first country album Cowboy Carter with 'Texas Hold 'Em,' which became the breakout hit from the set. The tune reached No. 1 on rankings all around the world, despite a drastic sonic departure from her previous work. It even earned her another chart-topper on several U.K. lists. 'Texas Hold 'Em' spent five weeks at No. 1 on the Official Singles Sales chart and seven total on the Official Singles Downloads tally. The track needs only a few more appearances on both lists to mark its first full year as a bestselling single in the country. As 'Texas Hold 'Em' returns, the album it's featured on continues to soar. Cowboy Carter is present on five U.K.-based rankings this week, and it climbs on four of them. The only list it doesn't rise on is the Official Americana Albums chart — and that's only because it remains steady at No. 1. While holding firm on that tally, Cowboy Carter also jumps to No. 4 on the Official Country Artists Albums list. It returns to the top 40 on both the Official Album Streaming chart and the ranking of the most consumed projects in the nation. Cowboy Carter isn't the only Beyoncé project gaining ground this frame. Lemonade, one of her most celebrated collections, reappears on the Official Hip-Hop and R&B Albums chart for the first time in years, landing at No. 38. 'Crazy in Love,' her breakout solo smash, nearly reenters the top 10 on the Official Hip-Hop and R&B Singles roster, pushing to No. 11 – it's new all-time peak.

Beyoncé Thanks Sir Paul McCartney for ‘One of the Best Songs Ever Made'

Beyoncé closed out the final night of her Cowboy Carter tour's six-show run at London's Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Monday (June 16) with a heartfelt message to fans and a tribute to one of England's most iconic songwriters. 'Thank you, Sir Paul McCartney, for writing one of the best songs ever made. Every time I sing it, I feel so honored. And it is a full circle moment to wear your beautiful daughter's design,' Beyoncé wrote in an Instagram post, referencing her Cowboy Carter rendition of the Beatles' 1968 classic 'Blackbird.' More from Billboard Addison Rae Announces Dates For Debut 2025 Headlining World Tour How Brandon Lake Is Leading A Whole New Flock To 'What's Real And What's True' In Christian Music Where Are the Blockbuster Soundtracks? The Screen Has Gone Dark for Hit Movie Albums Since 'Wicked' & 'Twisters' 'Thank you, London, for creating unforgettable memories for me and my family,' she continued. 'Holla at 'ya when I come on tour again!' Her version of the song, stylized as 'Blackbiird,' reimagines the original with string flourishes and vocal contributions from four rising Black female country artists: Tanner Adell, Brittney Spencer, Reyna Roberts and Tiera Kennedy. The cover is one of two reinterpretations featured on Cowboy Carter, alongside her take on Dolly Parton's 'Jolene.' McCartney praised Beyoncé's version earlier this year, calling it a 'magnificent' interpretation that reinforces the civil rights message that inspired him to write it. 'I think Beyoncé has done a fab version and would urge anyone who has not heard it yet to check it out,' he wrote on Instagram. 'You are going to love it.' The Beatles' 'Blackbird' was originally written in response to the Little Rock Nine, a group of Black students who faced violent resistance while integrating an Arkansas high school in 1957. McCartney has said the song was written as a message of hope and encouragement to Black women facing injustice. McCartney, whose original master recording is used in Beyoncé's version, according to Variety, also revealed that he had the chance to speak with the pop icon about her take on 'Blackbird.' 'I spoke to her on FaceTime and she thanked me for writing it and letting her do it,' wrote McCartney, who attended Beyoncé's record-breaking Renaissance World Tour last year. 'I told her the pleasure was all mine and I thought she had done a killer version of the song. When I saw the footage on the television in the early 60s of the black girls being turned away from school, I found it shocking and I can't believe that still in these days there are places where this kind of thing is happening right now. Anything my song and Beyoncé's fabulous version can do to ease racial tension would be a great thing and makes me very proud.' Released in March 2024, Cowboy Carter debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and made Beyoncé the first Black woman to top the Top Country Albums chart. The project also won her the Grammy for album of the year and best country album earlier this year. Family of 'loving father' shot dead in suspected mistaken identity issue plea

The investigation so far has led police officers to believe whoever killed Mahad Abdi Mohamed set out to hurt someone else in a pre-meditated and targeted attack The family of a 'much-loved son, brother and father' who was shot dead in a case of suspected mistaken identity have appealed for information about his murder. Mahad Abdi Mohamed, a much-loved son, brother and dad, died of a gunshot wound to the head following a shooting in Waverley Road, Tottenham at 8.45pm on Thursday, 20 March. He had spent the evening shortly before the shooting with his friend at their home. ‌ They were breaking their fast outside when a stolen Mitsubishi Outlander approached and the suspects inside opened fire, striking Mahad multiple times. Multiple emergency services responded and tried to save him, but he later sadly died at hospital. His friend, another man, aged 26, was treated in hospital for a non-life-changing gunshot wound to the leg. ‌ The investigation so far has led officers to believe whoever killed Mahad set out to hurt someone else in a pre-meditated and targeted attack. Four men were arrested on suspicion of murder in March and April. They were questioned and released on bail pending further investigations. Detective Chief Inspector Rebecca Woodsford, leading the Met's investigation, said: 'This tragic event, and Mahad's death, has had a profound impact on the community and all those who loved him. Someone out there knows what happened. And that person, or people, must come forward. 'Regardless of how small you think your information is, please share it with us. It could be the missing link we need to secure justice for Mahad and his family. 'We are interested in hearing from those who saw anything suspicious in Waverley Road, Tottenham on the night of Thursday, 20 March, or witnessed a silver Mitsubishi Outlander, nearby just before 20:45hrs. This car was stolen and used to drive the suspects to and from the scene. It was found burnt-out in Runcorn Close, N17, the following morning. ‌ 'We understand how daunting the information sharing process can be, but there are lots of ways to talk either myself or my investigation team and we can ensure you will be supported every step of the way'. Mr Abdi Mohamed's younger sister, Amal Abdi Mohamed, 23, said he was a 'loving father' to his son and was planning to get married in the summer. She added that her brother had worked at Waterloo Station, as well as part-time at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and Royal Ascot as a security worker. ‌ Appealing for information on her brother's death, the 23-year-old said: 'My beloved brother is gone, and we still don't know why. Someone knows what happened to him, and yet we are here with no answer, no justice, and just a family torn apart trying to navigate through the pain. 'He was taken away from us through gun violence. A bullet didn't just take his life, it tore through our family, through our heart and it's truly shocking, it's devastating, and it's so senseless, because this type of violence should never be normal. It should never be something a family ever has to expect, prepare for, or live with.' ‌ Amal said Mr Abdi Mohamed was the 'kind of person who can light up any room without even trying'. She added: 'He had this rare gift of making people feel seen, heard and loved, and if you were having a bad day, you would just want to be around him. He was funny, he was honest, and he was just a good person.' Many of Mr Abdi Mohamed's family members were in tears as they visited the scene of his murder as part of the appeal for information. Amal said that Mr Abdi Mohamed's five-year-old son 'looked up to him like a superhero'. She added: 'How do you look at a child who adored him day and night, and tell them that he's gone and you don't have the answers why? That boy will have to grow up with no dad. 'If you think you may know anything or have seen anything – you may think it doesn't matter, but it might be the key to giving us an answer, and it might be the thing that finally lets our family take a breath. To stay silent is to be complicit.' Anyone who can help is asked to call police on 101, quoting 7426/20MAR. If you wish to remain anonymous you can contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, or visit the Major Incident Police Portal.

Beyonce pays tribute to Sir Paul McCartney for penning 'one of the best songs ever' after performing the hit at her London shows

Beyonce paid tribute to Sir Paul McCartney by wearing an outfit designed by his daughter Stella as she performed one of his hits at her shows in London. The hitmaker, 43, wore a T-shirt featuring two blackbirds, in a nod to The Beatles 1968 song Blackbird, which she recorded a cover of last year. Beyonce has also performed Blackbird at her recording-breaking shows in London's Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this month. She went onto shared a sweet tribute to Paul in an Instagram post, writing: 'Thank you, Sir Paul McCartney, for writing one of the best songs ever made. Every time I sing it I feel so honoured. 'And it is a full circle moment to wear your beautiful daughter's design. 'Thank you, London, for creating unforgettable memories for me and my family. Holla at 'ya when I come on tour again!' Blackbird featured on The Beatles' White Album, and holds particular poignancy for Beyonce, as it was originally written as a protest song against inequality in the US in the 1960s, when The Beatles refused to perform for a segregated audience. Beyonce's cover of the song, titled Blackbiird, features on her Cowboy Carter album. After it was released, Paul himself praised Beyonce's cover of the song, saying: ''I think she does a magnificent version of it and it reinforces the civil rights message that inspired me to write the song in the first place.' On Monday, Beyonce brought her London shows to a close, having welcomed over 275,000 fans and grossed over £45million (over $61million USD), making it the most tickets and highest gross for any artist in the stadium's history. Beyoncé also now holds the all-time record at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for the most concerts performed by any artist. Her Cowboy Carter Tour shows - held June 5, 7, 10, 12, 14, and 16 - surpassed the benchmark she previously set with five sold-out nights during her Renaissance World Tour in 2023. This broke her own all-time record for most performances by any artist at the venue. At the venue she also broke the record for the most ticket sales for any artist - with over 275,000 tickets sold. It is also the highest grossing concerts for any artist (over £45million) at Tottenham. The news comes after Beyoncé reportedly 'bowed down' to Mariah Carey and 'packed up her £25k-a-night London penthouse for the diva songstress to move in.' The If I Were A Boy hitmaker had booked a 12-night stay at the Corinthia while performing at London's Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. But she allegedly moved out at the weekend when self-confessed diva Mariah, 56, touched down to play at Capital's Summertime Ball on Sunday. A source told The Sun: 'Superstars as big as Beyonce and Mariah want to stay in only the best hotels. 'Beyonce had been staying in Corinthia's penthouses. 'But when Mariah flew in, Beyonce packed up so Mariah could take over her suites. It was like Beyonce was bowing down to another music queen.' It came after Beyonce made a rare public statement about her elusive son Sir Carter while bringing her show to Tottenham on Thursday. In fan footage uploaded on X, the pop diva wished little Sir and his fraternal twin sister Rumi Carter a happy eighth birthday while onstage. 'Everybody say happy birthday, Rumi!' Beyoncé commanded her devoted Beyhive. At that, Knowles-Carter's 13-year-old daughter Blue Ivy Carter affectionately touched her little sister on the chin during the three-hour concert featuring over 35 songs. 'Say happy birthday, Sir!' the 35-time Grammy winner added as Rumi embraced her. 'Mommy loves you.' Blue Ivy serves back-up dancer duties on tour while Rumi has been making an appearance onstage each night of Beyoncé's tour beginning at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, CA on April 28.
