Rio Ferdinand names three clubs Jack Grealish should join after Man City exit
Rio Ferdinand has told Jack Grealish to join a club outside the Premier League amid growing transfer interest in the Manchester City outcast. Grealish's time at the Etihad is all but over after Pep Guardiola left him out of the squad for the Club World Cup. The attacking midfielder struggled for game time last season, notably getting left on the bench in the FA Cup final defeat before being axed entirely for the final Premier League game of the campaign. With a place in England's 2026 World Cup squad at risk, he is hoping to secure a transfer soon with City setting his price tag at £40million – less than half what they paid for him four years ago. 'I would advise Jack Grealish to play where he will be happy,' Manchester United legend Ferdinand said during a Q&A on his YouTube channel. Wake up to find news on your club in your inbox every morning with Metro's Football Newsletter. 'He needs to find happiness with himself playing football but also within a team. I don't think any players are happy when they're not playing, especially the player that's used to being the star man in their team since he was a kid. 'He'd have been star man so to think that he's now not even being considered for big moments and big games… he needs to go where he's going to play and he's going to find happiness. 'Because at the end of your career, yes you do want trophies, but at the same time you want to be happy doing that, you want to feel a part of it. I want to see that smile and that swagger and that enjoyment factor when he plays football again and I don't think we've seen it for a while.' Tottenham are the favourites to land the 29-year-old while a return to boyhood club Aston Villa has also been mooted, but Ferdinand thinks a move abroad would be best, naming three possible destinations. 'Villa would be great for him but if they don't sell anyone where does he fit in? Unless they get rid of Marcus Rashford but then Morgan Rogers plays out there as well. Appearances: 32 Starts: 16 Goals: 3 Assists: 5 Yellow cards: 5 'I would like to see it where he gets a bit of a free role. If there's a team out there that can afford to play a structure where he goes back to that almost like a No.10 or one of the eight positions that's allowed to just roam a bit. 'That's what I would do with Jack Grealish because I think if you play him more centrally and you just give him a bit of freedom, like we saw when he was at Villa, the kid can unlock. 'If I'm him, you know where I'd go? Saudi. If I'm Jack Grealish I'm going Saudi, I'm getting my feet in the sand. Tottenham, Napoli – 9/4 Nottingham Forest, Everton – 4/1 Aston Villa – 5/1 Newcastle – 7/1 AC Milan, Inter Milan – 12/1 Any Saudi Pro League – 14/1 Odds courtesy of Betfair 'I'd love to see him in Napoli, that atmosphere. Marseille with Roberto de Zerbi, where I know the fans will love him.' More Trending While the Saudi Pro League or Marseille would be a surprise move, Napoli are one of the favourites for Grealish's signature, with Antonio Conte after a new left-sided attacker. The Serie A champions have also been linked with Manchester United outcast wingers Jadon Sancho and Alejandro Garnacho. And a move from the Premier League to Napoli may well appeal to Grealish after seeing how well Scott McTominay and Romelu Lukaku performed for them last season. Conor McGregor Ibiza punch eyewitnesses recall what they saw in nightclub
Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info Eyewitnesses have recalled the events that unfolded after footage emerged appearing to show Conor McGregor throwing punches inside an Ibiza nightclub. In the early hours of Tuesday, at Pacha nightclub, The Sun released footage that allegedly showed McGregor appearing to peer down to address an unidentified man in the middle of the dancefloor. Merely moments later, the 36-year-old Irishman appears to throw two punches. The partygoer hit the deck, and onlookers have since come forward to recount their version of the alleged incident. One individual - who saw the whole thing - claimed there did not appear to be any consequences for the former dual-weight UFC champion. "Clearly something's been said to annoy him and he's reacted very badly. The guy seemed to fall to the floor, and his mates came to pick him up and get him away," he told The Sun. "There [didn't appear to be any] consequences for Conor." Another said: "About five people fell to the floor as the guy stumbled back. It was a bit like bowling pins, but the guy was really shaken." They added: "About a minute later, the bouncers came and got him on the back and took him out of the club, because he had annoyed Conor. It was right before close anyway. There was no messing around; they just removed him. Conor left through the garden a bit later; he didn't look very happy." The confrontation occurred just hours after McGregor was spotted on the island with TV personality Katie Price. The UFC star was wearing red shorts, a cap, and sunglasses, and puffing on a cigar. Price shared a photo of the two on her Instagram, captioning it: "You legend," after McGregor tagged her in his own story and wrote: "Forever." Tottenham defender and Austria international Kevin Danso also posted a picture with the former dual-weight UFC champion. Following the alleged incident, McGregor posted a series of updates on social media. On X (formerly Twitter), he wrote: "You won't speak bad about my country and its people and that's ever. Vote McGregor." A few hours later, he shared several photos of himself on Instagram, including one with a group of men and another of himself underneath a photo of Al Pacino from the 1983 film Scarface. It is not the first time McGregor has lost his temper whilst partying in Ibiza. Three years ago, he stamped on a fan's hat after a fan threw it towards him asked for him to sign it while he was celebrating his 34th birthday. McGregor gave the individual a sarcastic thumbs up before throwing insults at the fan. McGregor hasn't stepped into the Octagon since his defeat to long-standing adversary Dustin Poirier back in 2021. He was due to make his UFC comeback last year against Michael Chandler, but had to pull out due to an injury sustained during training. Whether or not the Irish fighter will return to competitive action remains uncertain. However, he has dropped hints of a potential comeback by posting several training videos over recent weeks. Family's plea after loving father shot dead in ‘case of mistaken identity'
The 'devastated' family of a father shot dead in a reported case of mistaken identity in north London have made a desperate appeal for information about his murder. The Metropolitan Police said Mahad Abdi Mohamed, 27, had spent the evening shortly before the shooting with his friend at their home on 20 March. They were breaking their fast outside on Waverley Road, Tottenham when a stolen Mitsubishi Outlander approached and the suspects inside opened fire. Mahad was struck multiple times at 8.45pm and he died from a gunshot wound to the head. DCI Rebecca Woodsford said the suspects got out of a stolen Mitsubishi Outlander, which was later found burned out, and fired the gunshots that killed him. Police previously said they had arrested four adult men on suspicion of murder who were subsequently bailed. Mr Abdi Mohamed's younger sister, Amal Abdi Mohamed, 23, said he was a 'loving father' to his son and was planning to get married in the summer. She added that her brother had worked at Waterloo Station, as well as part-time at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and Royal Ascot as a security worker. Appealing for information on her brother's death, the 23-year-old said: 'My beloved brother is gone, and we still don't know why. 'Someone knows what happened to him, and yet we are here with no answer, no justice, and just a family torn apart trying to navigate through the pain. 'He was taken away from us through gun violence. A bullet didn't just take his life, it tore through our family, through our heart and it's truly shocking, it's devastating, and it's so senseless, because this type of violence should never be normal. 'It should never be something a family ever has to expect, prepare for, or live with.' Amal said Mr Abdi Mohamed was the 'kind of person who can light up any room without even trying'. She added: 'He had this rare gift of making people feel seen, heard and loved, and if you were having a bad day, you would just want to be around him. 'He was funny, he was honest, and he was just a good person.' Many of Mr Abdi Mohamed's family members were in tears as they visited the scene of his murder as part of the appeal for information. Amal said that Mr Abdi Mohamed's five-year-old son 'looked up to him like a superhero'. She added: 'How do you look at a child who adored him day and night, and tell them that he's gone and you don't have the answers why? That boy will have to grow up with no dad. 'If you think you may know anything or have seen anything – you may think it doesn't matter, but it might be the key to giving us an answer, and it might be the thing that finally lets our family take a breath. 'To stay silent is to be complicit.' DCI Woodsford, the senior investigating officer into the murder, said Mr Abdi Mohamed was a 'much-loved son, brother and father', adding that his family were 'devastated' by the murder. Appealing for information, DCI Woodsford said: 'We believe he is a completely innocent person in this and actually this is a case of mistaken identity. 'I believe this was a pre-planned shooting, although I also believe that Mahad was killed mistakenly, those suspects were out that night to murder someone and cause serious harm. 'And I truly believe that somebody does know some information about this.' The police officer added: 'If you think you have information about the people that could be involved, the people that might have helped or burned the vehicle out, I'm appealing for people to come forward. 'What's crucial to us are witnesses and ultimately we need that evidence to place before the Crown Prosecution Service, and be able to charge people and put them in front of the courts.' Anyone with information can contact the police by giving the reference CAD7426/20March, or to remain anonymous, contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
