Michigan State's Kaleb Glenn out for 2025-26 season
June 20 - Michigan State forward Kaleb Glenn will miss the 2025-26 season after tearing his patellar tendon. Glenn, Michigan State's top-rated incoming transfer, reportedly suffered the injury during a non-contact shooting drill. The Florida Atlantic transfer was scheduled to have surgery on his right knee on Thursday. The 6-foot-7 Glenn averaged 12.6 points and 4.8 rebounds with a 53.1 field goal percentage for FAU last season as the team's leading scorer. One of three incoming transfers to the Spartans' 2025-26 team, Glenn ranked as the No. 15 small forward and the No. 81 overall player in the transfer portal. The Louisville, Ky. native was also a second-team All-American Athletic Conference honoree. Glenn transferred to Michigan State in April and will now have to redshirt for the upcoming season. He has two more years of eligibility. "I feel terrible for Kaleb and for his family, but we will be with them throughout this process," Michigan State coach Tom Izzo said in a statement. "It's awful that this happened just a couple of weeks after he got here in East Lansing and was working out with the guys and getting to know them. "In just a short time with us since he committed, we have really enjoyed having him and his family as part of our program. We're going to do everything that we can to support him and get him back on the floor." --Field Level Media

Michigan State basketball head coach Tom Izzo releases statement on Kaleb Glenn's injury
Michigan State basketball head coach Tom Izzo releases statement on Kaleb Glenn's injury Michigan State basketball suffered a tremendous blow to their roster after FAU transfer forward Kaleb Glenn suffered a season ending injury, tearing his patellar tendon, requiring surgery and ending his 2025-26 season. With the injury, the Spartans are now left scrambling, with head coach Tom Izzo having to take a new route in his roster construction and how he plans to manage the team heading into his 32nd year at the helm in East Lansing. Glenn was an addition that Izzo was very excited for, being the type of character player that the Spartans want to have in the program, and giving MSU a dynamic element. This feels like a massive blow to Izzo, despite him never having played in the green and white. Following the loss, Izzo released a comment regarding the injury and the plans going forward: "I feel terrible for Kaleb and for his family but we will be with them throughout this process. It's awful that this just happened a few weeks after he got here in East Lansing and was working out with the guys and getting to know them. In just a short time with us since he committed, we have really enjoyed having him and his family a part of our program. We're going to do everything that we can to support him and get him back on the floor." Former Spartan Slides Down the Lottery in Latest NBA Mock Draft
Jase Richardson has been talked about all week during the NBA Combine and the impression he has made. Salerno believes that if Richardson gets drafted that he would most likely be playing for Tyler Herro and the Miami Heat. Advertisement "Richardson saw his stock rise throughout the 2024-25 college basketball season," Salerno said. He continued to say that Richardson started as a reserve while he was playing at Michigan State and had grown into an outstanding player on the team under coach Tom Izzo. Salerno compliments Richardson on how he's a good mid-range shooter. Richardson finished the 2024-25 season with 12.1 points per game and shooting above 40% from a three-point range. Recently, Richardson started to slide down the draft board in the mock draft, which had many questions. Why? Even though he is still on the list of many players who will most likely get drafted to a team next month. Richardson still has the option to continue to play another season at Michigan State if he chooses to do so. Advertisement Richardson has until May 28 to maintain his eligibility, or just continue to get ready for next month for the 2025 Draft. The first round for the NBA draft is June 25, and the second one is June 26. Time is ticking for Richardson, either see what team calls his name, even though he is sliding down the mock draft board, but still having the possibility to get called in the first round and or return to the Spartans and play. Michigan State expected to hire J Batt as next athletic director
Michigan State expected to hire J Batt as next athletic director Show Caption Hide Caption Tom Izzo feels 'reinvigorated' by Elite Eight run, MSU basketball MSU head coach Tom Izzo fell to 8-3 in Elite Eight games in a night that was all Auburn from the start in March Madness, March 30, 2025 in Atlanta. One month after a change in leadership, Michigan State University has found its new athletic director. Jason "J" Batt, currently in the same role at Georgia Tech, is expected to be announced as the new AD in East Lansing on Monday, June 2, according to a source familiar with the search process. Though full contract terms remain to be signed, the 43-year-old will receive around $1.8 million per year in base salary. MSU also will pay Georgia Tech a little over $2 million to buy out the remainder of the contract, which runs through 2029 and that he signed in December. Batt's contract extension with Georgia Tech gave him an initial annual base salary of $979,000 for 2025, according to documents, and raises of $100,000 per year over the next four years. He also earns $271,000 in supplemental salary for a total of $1.25 million. More: NCAA issues notice of violations for Michigan State football from Mel Tucker era In his time in Atlanta, Batt helped generate nearly $300 million toward a $500 million "Full Steam Ahead" fundraising effort that began after he was hired in October 2022. That will go toward renovating Bobby Dodd Stadium at Hyundai Field, which is the Yellow Jackets' home football stadium, along with improvements to the school's basketball center and volleyball gymnasium. Batt also in November was appointed chairman of the College Football Hall of Fame, which is based in Atlanta. Previously, Batt served as executive deputy director of athletics, chief operating officer and chief revenue officer at Alabama over five years (2017-22). In 2021, he was named to the Sports Business Journal's "Forty Under 40" list for helping spearhead a 10-year, $600 million fundraising effort to improve facilities in Tuscaloosa. 'You have to love the enterprise and love how you can help people,' Batt told the publication in 2021. 'I still believe that most people give to help others, not to see their name on a building.' In December, MSU approved a three-phase plan to modernize Spartan Stadium, home of the football team. That includes $28 million in improvements as well as "an authorization to plan for the future modernization of the stadium." Batt was senior associate athletic director at East Carolina (2013-17) and spent four years at Maryland (2009-13), according to his Yellow Jackets bio. Batt − who was born in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois, and grew up in Charlottesville, Virginia − was on the men's soccer team at North Carolina during its 2001 NCAA championship and worked in fundraising at his alma mater as well as James Madison and William & Mary. While at UNC, he earned an undergraduate degree in journalism and mass communications and later a master's degree in sports administration. New MSU president Kevin Guskiewicz was chancellor at UNC from 2019-24. Alan Haller was forced out as MSU AD on May 1 after three-plus years in the role.
