Jenna Bush Hager reveals topless sunbathing once left her chest green — dermatologist reveals why

Here's another reason to slather on some SPF this summer — especially if you're planning to bare it all. Jenna Bush Hager revealed this week that a trip to a topless beach in Spain during high school left her so scorched, her chest turned green. 'If you get burned, it's not pretty,' the 43-year-old 'Today With Jenna & Friends' co-host told actress Leslie Bibb on Tuesday's episode. 5 Actress Leslie Bibb appeared on the June 16 episode of 'Today With Jenna & Friends.' NBC When Bibb, 51, asked if her chest peeled, Bush Hager nodded — but then took things in a bizarre turn. 'They may have turned green,' the TV personality said. 'The opposite of the color wheel!' 'They turned green? Are you for real life?' the White Lotus star gasped. 'Oh, I don't think that's good,' Bibb added — and she's probably right. Sunburns happen when you're exposed to too much ultraviolet (UV) light, which can penetrate into deep layers of the skin and cause cellular damage, according to the Mayo Clinic. The body responds by increasing blood flow to the area, leading to inflamed skin we know as a burn. 'Signs that your burns are significant include painful redness, peeling and blisters,' Dr. Lauren Taglia, a dermatologist, told Northwestern Medicine. In Bush Hager's case, her Elphaba-esque chest may have signaled something more serious going on beneath the surface. 5 Bush Hager's chest 'turned green' after a bad sunburn. NBC 5 'Green!' Bibb exclaimed. 'That… makes me sick.' TODAY with Jenna & Friends / TikTok 'When the skin barrier is significantly damaged from a bad sunburn, it's possible to develop a secondary bacterial infection,' Dr. Adarsh Vijay Mudgil, medical director of Mudgil Dermatology, told The Post. Mudgil hasn't treated Bush Hager personally, but he speculated that her symptoms could be caused by impetigo, a common and contagious bacterial skin infection. 'This can lead to the formation of yellowish-green crusts, which would explain the green color she described,' Mudgil explained. 'Impetigo can be painful and requires antibiotics for treatment, either topical or systemic, depending on how widespread the infection is,' he noted. Gross? Bush Hager agrees. 5 All skin types can burn, though those with a lighter complexion are more at risk. Evgen – The former first daughter said the experience was enough to scare her away from sunbathing for good. 'I try not, but this is years of sun damage,' she admitted, rubbing her arms and adding that she now gets regular skin checks. She also offered some sage advice for viewers: wear sunscreen, especially when you're young. 'SPF babies, SPF! Get hip with it!' Bibb chimed in. Dermatologists agree. For daily use, most experts recommend using sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30. If you're spending extended time outdoors, SPF 60 or higher is smart, according to Johns Hopkins Medicine. For full-body coverage, aim for about one ounce of sunscreen — roughly a shot glass. And don't forget to reapply every two hours, or more if you're swimming or sweating. Even if you're inside, you're not off the hook. 5 Hager Bush, a mom-of-three, wishes her younger self hadn't tanned so much. Instagram/jennabhager 'Most ultraviolet (UV) rays can penetrate glass, so if you're working or relaxing near a window, you're receiving sun exposure,' Dr. Elisabeth G. Richard, a dermatologist, told the Skin Cancer Foundation. The bright side: you won't have to reapply as frequently as you would outdoors, likely every four to six hours. 'Sun damage is cumulative,' Richard noted. 'So even if you're only exposed for a short time, it's important to have protection.' Experts also recommend doubling up with wide-brimmed hats, sunglasses and protective clothing for extra coverage. When the sun's at its peak — between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. — your best bet is to head for the shade. And if a green chest isn't warning enough, don't forget: Every sunburn — even a mild one — increases your risk of skin cancer, including melanoma, the deadliest form of all. In fact, just one blistering burn in childhood or adolescence more than doubles your risk of melanoma later in life, according to the Skin Cancer Foundation. The American Cancer Society estimates that in 2025, 104,960 new melanoma cases will be diagnosed in the US — and 8,430 Americans will die from it.

TODAY 'Jenna's got a little something in the oven for the Boost,' Guthrie, 53, said before the camera cut over to the former first daughter, per People. 'Today' co-hosts Carson Daly, Al Roker and Craig Melvin were left scratching their heads over the baby news confusion. 'Wait, what?' Daly, 51, asked. 'Are you making an announcement?' 8 'Jenna's got a little something in the oven for the Boost,' Guthrie said. Erik Pendzich/Shutterstock 'Did you say Jenna's pregnant?' Roker, 70, added. 'I'm so excited for you!' someone else shouted in the background as Bush Hager started the segment. Guthrie then snapped at her male co-anchors as they tried to figure out what she meant by her 'little something in the oven' comment. 8 'Today' co-hosts Carson Daly and Al Roker were left scratching their heads over the confusion. NBCU Photo Bank/NBCUniversal via Getty Images 'Stop that!' Guthrie barked. 'Stop that!' 'You guys,' Bush Hager added, 'I understood what she said.' But Daly, Roker and Melvin were not the only ones bewildered by Guthrie's remark, because some 'Today' viewers rushed to social media for clarification amid the baby announcement confusion. 8 'You guys, I understood what she said,' Bush Hager said. Today/NBC 'Bush is pregnant?' one person asked on Instagram. 'Are either one pregnant?' asked another, while a third commented, 'I'm confused.' Other fans slammed the show and lamented over Hoda Kotb's departure from the program. She left 'Today' back in January because her 6-year-old daughter, Hope, has Type 1 diabetes. 8 Some fans took to Instagram to lament over Hoda Kotb's departure from 'Today' earlier this year. NBC 'Can barely watch now that Hoda is gone,' one viewer wrote. 'Haven't watched since Hoda left,' added another, as a third commented, 'Bring Hoda back.' Although Bush Hager is not pregnant, she does share daughters Mila, 13, Poppy, 9, and son Hal, 5, with her husband, Henry Hager. 8 Bush Hager and her husband, Henry Hager, have three children together. AP As for Guthrie, she has daughter Vale, 10, and son Charley, 8, with husband Mike Feldman. Meanwhile, this wouldn't be the first time that Guthrie inadvertently suggested Bush Hager was pregnant with a fourth child. Back in March, during an episode of 'Today With Jenna & Friends,' the broadcast journalist said that she 'had a dream' that Bush Hager welcomed another baby. 8 Guthrie shares two children with her husband, Mike Feldman. WireImage 'I have nothing to announce,' former President George W. Bush's daughter responded at the time. 'I'm pretty sure I've come to terms that three, even though it's an imperfect number, is the perfect number for our house.' 'It's very normal,' Guthrie chimed in. 'I think they call it being broody. You're kind of broody for a third or a fourth.' 'I would have had a third in a heartbeat, but, you know, I was up against the clock,' she added.

Jenna Bush And Halle Berry Present Teyana Taylor With Gold And Platinum Plaques

Source: Paul Archuleta / Getty Teyana Taylor was delivered the surprise of a lifetime during her appearance on Today With Jenna & Friends on Wednesday, June 4. While chatting to host Jenna Bush and celebrity guest co-host Halle Berry about her new album, Escape Room , Taylor displayed a look of shock when the duo informed her that two of her past albums, K.T.S.E. and The Album , had earned the RIAA's historic Gold award—a benchmark of success for artists in the music industry. 'This is like…okay. This is crazy,' Taylor said, as producers brought out the star's two gold plaques and a platinum award earned by the Harlemite. Holding Taylor's hand, Jenna told the multi-talented star she hoped the award would remind her of her incredible talent and reignite her passion for music. Back in 2020, the mother of two announced her retirement, saying she felt 'underappreciated' in the industry. 'You were about to retire, so I hope these two pieces of your art remind you of your incredible talent,' Jenna told the 34-year-old celeb. Shortly after her appearance, Taylor took to Instagram to share the sweet moment, thanking fans and God for perseverance. 'Father God, I thank you and I praise you in the name of Jesus,' she wrote. 'Thank You for showing patience with me, your kindness, grace & mercy every day. Your mercies never cease. Father God, please continue to instruct and teach me as I continue my faith walk. Thank you for keeping my head high to keep my crown from falling. I love you.' She added, 'Thank you for reminding me the wait is not punishment, it was preparation. Thank you to everyone involved with helping me bring these albums and songs to life, I am filled with much gratitude! WE PLATINUM & GOLD YALL.' The major award win comes as Taylor prepares to make her long-awaited return to music with Escape Room , her first album in five years since the critically acclaimed The Album in 2020. Set for release in August, the project marks the end of her musical hiatus and the beginning of a bold new era. As a taste of what's to come, Taylor dropped her new single 'Long Time' on June 4, accompanied by a smoldering music video featuring LaKeith Stanfield and her rumored boyfriend, Aaron Pierre. With raw vulnerability and fierce energy, Teyana transforms heartbreak into empowerment, delivering the biting refrain, 'Shoulda been walked out this bi—h a long time,' locking up Stanfield in a cage, before sharing a passionate kiss with Pierre in another scene. No official word yet on the feature lineup for the album, but based on the cinematic flair of her latest music video, it's clear Taylor is stepping into a bold new chapter—one that fuses her music with her passion for film. It's a fitting move for the multihyphenate, who is the star of Tyler Perry's new Netflix film, Straw , starring alongside Taraji P. Henson. We love to see the good sis stepping into this new chapter! How Sheinelle Jones Is Coping After Husband Uche Ojeh's Death: What ‘Today' Cohosts Have Said

The hosts of Today have offered some insight into how Sheinelle Jones has been coping with the death of her husband, Uche Ojeh. On May 23, Savannah Guthrie announced on the NBC morning show that Ojeh died at age 45 after a private battle with the brain cancer glioblastoma. 'There are no words for the pain that we feel for Sheinelle and their three young children,' she said. 'Uche was an incredible person. We all loved him.' Jones — who has been absent from Today since December 2024 to deal with her husband's health — met Ojeh in the '90s during their time at Northwestern University. They tied the knot in 2008 and went on to welcome three kids: son Kayin, 15, and twins Clara and Uche, 12. 'We just want to say Sheinelle, Kayin, little Uche and Clara, the Ojeh family, we are with you,' Guthrie added. 'We love you. You are our family, and we are just sending all of our love to you right now.' Celebs and Journalists Rally Around Today's Sheinelle Jones After Death of Husband Uche Ojeh Jones broke her silence on Ojeh's death via Instagram that same day, writing, 'Thank you, for all of your love and support.' A source later told Us Weekly that 'there is no timing on when she will be back' on Today, adding that Jones is 'focusing on her family' at this time. Several Today hosts supported Jones at Ojeh's funeral on May 30, including , Al Roker, Craig Melvin and Hoda Kotb. Scroll down to see what the Today hosts have said about how Jones is dealing with her husband's death: 'Sheinelle has been such a warrior, and she has stepped up and shown what love is and what love does for her husband,' Guthrie said while discussing Ojeh's death on the May 23 episode of Today With Jenna & Friends. 'And it has been a marvel to witness.' While chatting with Guthrie on Jenna & Friends, Bush Hager noted that Jones embodied her '[in] sickness and [in] health' wedding vows before and after Ojeh's health battle. 'And she's — as we've talked to her over the last couple months — been this pillar [not only] for her husband but for her family, for those kids,' she praised. 'And one of the things that I always was sort of amazed by was that she did it with such grace and with humor.' 'We tend to say, 'Oh, I know what you're going through. I know what you're feeling.' Nobody knows unless you've actually been in that,' Roker exclusively told Us at Kotb's Joy 101 launch event on May 28. 'So, we're there. We just want to be there and pay tribute to the wonderful person that Uche was and still will be because he's going to live on in those kids and live in all our memories.' As the Today hosts paid tribute to Ojeh on May 23, Dreyer noted that Sheinelle was 'always smiling' during her family's difficult time. 'She's just a bright light whenever she walks into a room, even through this. She relied on her faith, she relied on her friends,' the third hour of Today cohost added. While exclusively chatting with Us at Kotb's Joy 101 launch, Dreyer praised Jones for being a 'close friend.' She added, 'I've reached out. I don't want to push too hard. There's just a lot of things that she must be juggling right now. I mean, I don't know the right words besides, 'I'm here. Whenever you need a hug, let me know. I'll be there in a second.' And, I mean, I pray for her every night.' 'What has been remarkable, also, is watching the way with which she has dealt with this, dealing with a husband who's battling cancer and three young children that she's had [take care of] by herself for a while now,' Melvin said on the May 23 episode of Today. 'And every time you would talk to her, she would still find a way to laugh about something.'

Jenna Bush Hager Reacts To Bill Belichick's Girlfriend Placing Third At Miss Maine Pageant: 'She Didn't Even Win?'

Jenna Bush Hager once again weighed in on Coach Bill Belichick and Jordon Hudson's controversial relationship on Today With Jenna & Friends, where she was joined by sports correspondent Erin Andrews, who knows Belichick quite well. The headline-making couple came up during their morning chat when Bush Hager announced that Hudson had competed that past weekend in the Miss Maine USA pageant, where Belichick was spotted in attendance. 'Yeah, she placed third,' Andrews contributed. Bush Hager seemed surprised that Hudson didn't win the pageant. 'Oh, she didn't even win?' she asked before continuing with the segment. 'Well, anyway, posted photos of Bill sitting front and center.' Bush Hager's off-hand comment sparked some laughter from the people on set. Andrews shared that she had heard the pageant was a hot-ticket event, likely because of Belichick and Hudson's involvement. She went on to share that she has asked Tom Brady for his thoughts on Belichick's relationship, though she did not share what the NFL Hall of Famer specifically said about the matter. 'I gotta say, people have asked a lot, and I work with Brady so I have been asking him a lot, 'What do you think about this?' Because he knows coach as a coach and I know coach from being on the sidelines,' she explained. 'And look, Bill Belichick is royalty.' She continued, 'He is the Mount Rushmore. I know how he is on the field, he's very matter of fact. You get two seconds to talk to him, I am full-blown stomach cramps when I get ready to talk to him because I don't want to mess up… So, Jordon's got the congeniality points if she's got him showing up front row.' Bush Hager also asked Andrews what her thoughts were on the ripped sweatshirt Belichick wore during the viral 60 Minutes interview that Hudson famously interrupted. Andrews admitted she was surprised by his wardrobe choice, but noted that Belichick is known for his eclectic sense of style. 'I don't think I've ever really seen coach like that before,' she admitted. 'He's a character but this is a side no one's seen before.' Bush Hager added in agreement, 'We're all surprised by it.' This isn't the first time the couple has been shaded on Today. Guest host Wanda Sykes made it very clear that she did not believe Hudson and Belichick met on an airplane like they claimed. Today with Jenna & Friends airs on weekdays at 10/9c on NBC.
