Green Bay sees record tourism year, with Lambeau and Resch Expo leading the way

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – Discover Green Bay released data from 2024, showing a record-breaking year for both economic impact and visitor numbers in Brown County. A significant part of this success was credited to key venues like Lambeau Field, Titletown, and the Resch Expo Center. 'The Resch Expo has been a huge, huge addition to the tourism mix in the area,' said Brad Toll, president and CEO of Discover Green Bay. Family & Childcare Resources of Northeast Wisconsin holds monthly diaper giveaway Since its opening in 2021, the Resch Expo has helped attract major events to Green Bay, but Toll emphasized that visitors often overlook local businesses that contribute to Brown County's popularity. 'We have great attractions here,' Toll said. 'This year, looking at the botanical gardens, they've got an awesome exhibit—that is plastic that has been collected from promotions—that has been turned into art. Our attractions give us something to promote.' Visitor spending in 2024 broke down into five main categories: Food & beverage – $209.7 million Lodging – $178.7 million Retail – $165.5 million Recreation & entertainment – $163.2 million Transportation – $130.2 million These figures helped place Brown County among the top five tourism destinations in the state. Fairchild Equipment delivers refurbished forklift to church in Green Bay to help serve families in need 'It's just in their DNA to do things like that,' said Gov. Tony Evers. 'So Brown County, Green Bay, is really important.' Discover Green Bay is expected to release economic data related to the 2025 NFL Draft in July. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. ‘Fresh deliveries every day': Festival Foods planning for wave of customers during NFL Draft

SUAMICO, Wis. (WFRV) – Grocery stores are used to the large crowds at peak times of the year, whether it's sports fans preparing for their tailgate or barbecue or families hosting a gathering. But nothing will be quite like the crush of shoppers during the NFL Draft. Titletown's Turn: Local 5 examines potential challenges as 2025 NFL Draft comes to Green Bay 'First night's probably about 250, 300,000 from forecasts we've seen in the past. It will be busier than an average Packer home game,' Suamico Festival Foods assistant store director Seth Petersen said. 'Whether you're catering or looking for party items like taco trays, fruit trays, vegetable items, we'll have all that stuff in stock, ready to go.' Petersen says that his team has been planning for the draft for nearly a year, and will be leaning on the flexibility of their vendor partners during the big week. 'We're very fortunate to have good vendor partners, and we've been planning for months, if not a year, taking a look at the needs of the business, what we'll need,' he said. 'We've been working on production plans for months, if not a year, to prepare for this event. So we have great plans to be fully prepared and in stock with our freshest quality items.' Click here for more of Local 5's coverage of the 2025 NFL Draft in Green Bay Petersen's staff will be ready to have all hands on deck, and fresh produce items need to be delivered 'We get fresh deliveries every single day. So that won't change during the draft, it'll just increase,' Petersen said. 'Fortunately the whole team is eager and excited to be ramped up for that week. We expect traffic to be early and often, as folks prepare for the draft and form that plan.' 'At least more than double': Local businesses prepare to multiply inventory for NFL Draft Festival Foods staff will also welcome visitors with burgers and brats, ideally outside, weather-permitting. 'Hopefully we're able to bring out the Festy burgers and Oktoberfest brats, but whether it's firing up the grills or ovens, we'll have everything you need,' Petersen said. 'Whether it's products here from Green Bay or across Wisconsin, we have local partnerships with those vendors and they're excited to showcase their products.' Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc.
