Miley Cyrus Explains Why Mom Tish Unfollowed Her On Instagram
Singer Miley Cyrus and her mom, Tish Cyrus, are addressing a social media snafu that had people 'freaking out' not too long ago. 'Miley, why do you think your mom unfollowed you on Instagram?' Tish asked, doubling over in laughter, on the latest episode of the 'Sorry We're Cyrus' podcast she does with her daughter Brandi Cyrus, Miley's older sister. The pop star conceded that the timing of her mom's unfollow was 'interesting,' because she had recently posted a photo of her dad, Billy Ray Cyrus, after the two were estranged for a period of time. Tish and Billy Ray Cyrus divorced back in 2022. 'If you were in the family or not in the family, it was weird timing,' the singer teased her mom. 'Like I went to go see B Ray and, like, you did mysteriously unfollow me.' 'And then you got some backlash, and then suddenly you knew how to press that 'follow' button,' she said before adding that she was 'just kidding.' The 'Flowers' singer explained that 'the truth is ― which is boring ― there's a bug in Meta which... it naturally unfollows the person that you follow with the most engagement.' 'It was insane, though,' Tish Cyrus said as her daughter took listeners through what she thought had happened. 'I was like, either, 'Mom lost her glasses and can't see,' which is ― that's what I thought happened,' Miley Cyrus said. 'And then, there was actually a bug in Meta.' Both women addressed the unfollowing incident when it happened in May. When someone on Instagram asked Tish Cyrus why she had suddenly unfollowed her daughter, she commented, 'i didn't! Idk what happened lol.' Tish later spoke about the situation on X, writing, 'I would never unfollow Miley, her and I are as close as we've always been. Period. Love you Little.' The 'Hannah Montana' star took to her Instagram stories to address the hoopla, writing, 'I rarely comment on rumors, but my mama and I are too tight for anything to ever come between us.' 'She's my best friend,' she added. 'Like a lot of moms, she doesn't know how to work her phone and somehow unfollowed me-simple, coincidental, and uninteresting.' Miley Cyrus reveals dad Billy Ray's marijuana use on Hannah Montana set was blamed on her
Miley Cyrus made a candid confession on the latest episode of the Sorry We're Stoned podcast with her mom Tish Cyrus and sister Brandi. The 32-year-old singer cleared the air about what went down behind the scenes of Hannah Montana, in which she starred alongside her dad Billy Ray Cyrus from 2006 to 2011. When a fan wrote in asking 'what's a core memory from the Hannah Montana days that still makes you laugh?', Miley replied: 'Dad smoking pot and everyone blaming me for it.' SCROLL DOWN FOR VIDEO Brandi, 38, confirmed: 'I do remember that.' Miley then pointed to Tish and added: 'And he wasn't sharing, cause this one wasn't toking yet.' Tish, 58, who's since been open about her marijuana use, recalled how she tried to defend her then-husband: 'They were calling me saying B-Ray' was smoking pot and I was like, "Absolutely not, he would never do that!"' Miley's former Hannah Montana castmate Mitchel Musso then took the blame instead. In January, Tish opened up about why she stopped smoking weed, despite previously embracing her status as a self-proclaimed stoner. She said: 'It was kind of by accident that I stopped smoking I went on vacation and it was somewhere I could not have pot and like three days in, had the worst anxiety I've ever had in my life. And when I tried to smoke again… Nope.' After quitting cold turkey, she realized that what once calmed her nerves had started to do the opposite. Smoking, which used to help with her anxiety, now 'makes it even worse'. Miley's road to fame was filled with family strife. She teased the whole family went through a 'really difficult, dark decade' but they were able to get through it. She revealed on the podcast that the family was able to mend their fences without therapy. 'We're so messy, we didn't even do any of that,' Miley joked of her family struggles, revealing the reason a therapist wasn't involved. She added: 'Just to get each other into a room to get to counseling would have been a war.' On last Tuesday's episode of Reclaiming with Monica Lewinsky, Miley admitted she 'had a lot of loyalty' to her mother Tish, who split with father Billy Ray back in 2022 after nearly 30 years of marriage. Before their official split and divorce that was finalized in 2023, Miley said that her parents were on-and-off, as she revealed how that affected her: 'I watched what happens when you don't clean things up as they're happening. 'They really do stack. And then all of the sudden you go, "Oh my God, it's been 10 years and this is a mess I barely even know how to start. This is emotional hoarding".' Ultimately, Miley said she 'cleaned all that up', adding: 'I just kind of busted through the pile that stacked and just [went], "I'm here, you're here, let's start by having a good time together and then as we start bringing some happiness and joy into each other's life, then we'll be in a better place to have these conversations".' And on Thursday, Miley sent fans into a frenzy on Thursday night as she made a surprise appearance at Beyonce's latest show in Paris. Beyonce told the crowd as she kicked off the concert: 'Paris, France, I have to say I'm very grateful to be on the stage. We have a very special show for y'all.' Later in the show, she revealed that Miley would be joining her on stage, adding: 'I love y'all so much. I'm super excited because I wanted to do something very special for your guys. Give it up. I'm so grateful to sing with you Ms Miley Cyrus. 'Please give it up for Miley.'

Miley Cyrus claims dad Billy Ray Cyrus 'smoked pot' on Hannah Montana set
Miley Cyrus claims her dad Billy Ray Cyrus "smoked pot" on the set of Hannah Montana - and she got the blame. The singer shot to fame playing a teenage school girl with a secret life as a pop star on the show - which ran between 2006 and 2011 - and she's now recalled her most "hilarious" memory from the series was when her country star father smoked a joint backstage and the blame fell on her. During an appearance on her mother Tish Cyrus and sister Brandi Cyrus' Sorry We're Cyrus podcast, was asked to share her funniest memory from the show and Miley explained: "Dad smoking pot and everyone blaming me for it. It's hilarious … He wasn't sharing 'cause Tish wasn't toking yet." Tish remembered the incident and revealed she did not believe Billy Ray - who she divorced in 2023 - was responsible and thought Miley's co-star Mitchel Musso was behind it. She said: "They were calling me, saying B-Ray was smoking pot, and I was saying: 'Absolutely not, he would never do that. It's Mitchel Musso!'" Miley added: "Well, it was Mitchel. It was Mitchel Musso! It was both." However, Mitchel - who played Oliver on the show - had different memories of the incident. In a statement to E! News, he said: "Well, that's not how I remember it. "However, I've got plenty of stories from those years that might be worth having a conversation about. If we're revisiting Hannah Montana history - just say the word. All love to Miley and the fam … even when the rewrites get this creative." During her appearance on the podcast, Miley also spoke about a recent incident in which her mother seemingly unfollowed her on Instagram after the singer went to see Billy Ray and sparked rumours of another family feud - but the singer revealed it was actually just a "bug" in the platform. Miley said: "If you were in the family or not in the family, it was weird timing. I went to see B-Ray, and you did mysteriously unfollow me - and then you got some backlash and suddenly knew how to press that follow button ... 'The truth is boring. There's a bug in Meta, it naturally unfollows the person that you follow with the most engagement … I was either, like: 'Mom lost her glasses and can't see,' which is what I thought happened. Then, there was actually a bug in Meta."

Miley Cyrus blamed for dad Billy Ray's pot smoking on ‘Hannah Montana' set
Miley Cyrus says she caught some flack for her dad's pot habit on the set of the Disney Channel series 'Hannah Montana.' The Grammy winner, 32, shed some light on her child star days while appearing on Thursday's episode of 'Sorry We're Cyrus,' the podcast hosted by her mom, Tish, and big sister Brandi. Asked about an amusing 'core memory' from making the teen sitcom co-starring her father, Miley said: 'Dad smoking pot and everyone blaming me for it.' Tish said she remembered the drama, noting that once everyone realized it was actually Billy Ray toking on the set, people on the show kept calling her to say 'B-Ray was smoking pot.' She said she refused to believe it at the time, and tried blaming Miley's co-star Mitchel Musso instead. 'It was Mitchel Musso! It was both,' Miley replied with a laugh. During the episode, the famous family also addressed when Tish 'mysteriously' — as Miley teased — unfollowed her on Instagram last month, prompting speculation about the state of their relationship. Miley at the time dismissed the rumor mill, saying that though she 'rarely' bothers weighing in on the grapevine, her mom is her 'best friend' and the two 'are too tight for anything to ever come between us.' Much like Tish responded to one of her own followers, Cyrus said the move was a 'simple, coincidental and uninteresting' mistake, despite occurring just hours after Billy Ray broadcast how excited he was to see his daughter. They had their own dust-up in July 2024, when he apparently called Miley and Tish 'skanks' in texts and audio obtained by multiple outlets. About a year prior, Tish and youngest daughter Noah — who reportedly had a relationship with her new stepdad Dominic Purcell, before he wed her mom — put their own reported feud to bed.
