Dhanashree Verma opens up about her song Ting Ling Sajna with Rajkummar Rao and her upcoming Telugu debut: 'I dedicate this to my fans, those who've stood by me...'
Dhanashree Verma shares her excitement about 'Ting Ling Sajna'. She enjoyed working with Rajkummar Rao and Vijay Ganguly. Her mother is a big fan of Rajkummar. Dhanashree did not refer to past party numbers. She is also preparing for her Telugu debut in 'Akasam Daati Vastaava'. The film is produced by Dil Raju Productions. From viral dance videos to setting the screen on fire in Ting Ling Sajna, Dhanashree Verma is carving a unique path in the world of entertainment. In this candid chat with ETimes, she opened up about working alongside Rajkummar Rao , her big Telugu debut, and the joy of making her family—and fans—proud with every step she takes. Excerpts... 'Ting Ling Sajna' is being dubbed the next bachelor party anthem. What inspired this energetic number, and how did you get involved? 'Ting Ling Sajna' is definitely one of the catchiest party anthems we've had, and the way it has been used in the film as a bachelor party anthem is fantastic. I am glad it is doing really well; it looks good, sounds good, and I'm getting a great positive response for it, so I'm quite happy and thrilled. I received a call saying there's a song in the film Bhool Chuk Maaf by Maddock Films, featuring Rajkummar Rao, and I'd be dancing with him, and in that moment, I knew I was going to do this song. I mean, who would say no to that? Rajkummar Rao is, as we all know, one of the finest, most talented actors in our industry. Whether it's drama, comedy, or dance, his performance is a complete package. It's a treat to watch his films. I definitely considered this a great opportunity to share the dance floor with him and perform a dramatic sequence in the song. There's so much to learn from him, so much to express, and so much to explore within yourself when you're part of such projects. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Memperdagangkan CFD Emas dengan salah satu spread terendah? IC Markets Mendaftar Undo So yes, I absolutely had to be involved. Your on-screen chemistry with Rajkummar Rao has been praised. How was the experience working with him? A lot of people have been telling me that my chemistry with Rajkummar Rao looks superb on screen, and I'm genuinely thrilled to hear that. When you're part of a high-energy song like this, especially one that plays a significant role in the film's narrative, it means a lot to receive such appreciation. It's not just a party anthem; it's a story-driven sequence that holds weight in the screenplay. So, when the chemistry with your co-actor is praised, it really feels like the cherry on top. Working with Rajkummar was both intimidating and inspiring. His aura, energy, and sheer talent are undeniable, and sharing the screen with him pushed me to give my absolute best. It's definitely one of the most thrilling projects I've taken on. At the same time, he made the entire experience enjoyable. He's incredibly grounded and makes you feel completely at ease. Watching him fully transform into his character is a masterclass in itself. Also, this song was choreographed by Vijay Ganguly, who's been my teacher since I was very young. He's seen me grow over the years, so getting to work with him on this felt like a full-circle moment. I truly feel blessed to be part of this project. What was the reaction of your family to the song number? Oh my God, my mother is a huge Rajkummar Rao fan, and she absolutely loves him! She's watched all his films, whether in theatres or on OTT platforms, sometimes even multiple times. Even if she's seen a film in the theatre, she'll watch it again when it comes online. She genuinely appreciates his talent. So, when I told my family that I was doing a song with Rajkummar in his upcoming film—and that it's not just a typical item song but an important part of the story—they were over the moon. My mother was thrilled, and my entire family was incredibly supportive. They've seen how much hard work and dedication I've put into my craft, despite all the challenges. They were extremely proud and truly grateful to see this moment happen. It feels like all the discipline and sincerity I've poured into my work has really paid off. Did you watch or take reference from some past hit party numbers as a part of your prep work for Ting Ling Sajna? I honestly didn't take any references or look at past hit party numbers for 'Ting Ling Sajna' because every song is unique. This one, in particular, is a story-driven song within the film; even though it's an item number, it plays a key role in the narrative. I wanted to make sure I carried that vibe and did justice to the storytelling. Dance has always been the most defining part of my journey, and whatever I've achieved today is because of the talent I bring to it. For this song, I focused on getting both the choreography and expressions just right. I went bold with the look, performance, and overall persona, something very different from my previous work. This song demanded that level of transformation, and I wanted to showcase my acting, expressions, and energy in a fresh way. There were no references, just great direction, and I gave it my all. You're set to debut in the Telugu dance film ' Akasam Daati Vastaava .' Is that true? If yes, what can audiences expect from this project? Yes, I'm super excited for my upcoming Telugu debut film 'Akasam Daati Vastaava', produced by the esteemed Dil Raju Productions. I'm incredibly grateful for this opportunity. Dil Raju sir is one of the finest in the Telugu industry, and to debut under his banner feels like a true blessing. The film is a drama-centric entertainer with elements of comedy, emotion, and, of course, dance. It's not just a dance film; it has depth, storytelling, and a strong character arc. The title Akasam Daati Vastaava translates to 'I can chase the sun, moon, and stars for you,' which beautifully reflects the spirit of the film. Audiences will get to see a different side of me through my acting, performance range, and energy on screen. After facing setbacks, including a major injury that took two years from my career, this film feels like a fresh, powerful new beginning. Promotions begin soon, and the film releases next month. I dedicate this to my fans, those who've stood by me, believed in me, and supported me through everything. This one's for you. Dhanashree Verma on giving love another chance post divorce with Yuzvendra Chahal: 'Agar pyaar ki baat karein toh... who doesn't want love in life?'
Dhanashree Verma is striking all the right chords—on the dance floor and in life. From delivering one of the year's catchiest bachelor party anthems with Ting Ling Sajna to gearing up for her Telugu debut Akasam Daati Vastaava, the actor-choreographer-actor is embracing a powerful new chapter. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now In an exclusive conversation with ETimes, she opened up about how dance has been her anchor through personal and professional highs and lows and how she has been dealing with constant scrutiny around her personal life. With her focus firmly on growth and creativity, Dhanashree isn't shutting the door on love—just letting it find her when the time is right. Excerpts... Public figures often find themselves at the centre of intense speculation, especially during personal transitions. How do you deal with narratives that may not always reflect your truth? The narratives circulating around me are far from the truth. None of it reflects who I am, and I don't engage with it because I know my values, my upbringing, and the kind of person I am. I've always believed in maintaining dignity and grace. Putting others down has never been my way, and it never helps anyone rise in life. What truly matters is staying focused on your work, your intentions, and the good people around you. Self-growth, self-love, and discipline have always guided me. I believe that when you waste energy on negativity, you take away from your own growth. I choose to put that energy into becoming better every day. I'm a deeply spiritual person, and my faith in God and the universe keeps me grounded. At the end of the day, I believe your success, your values, and your truth will eventually speak for themselves, and that's all that really matters. Has dance played a role in helping you cope with personal challenges? What's helped me through personal challenges is, honestly, my work, especially dance. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now But beyond that, it's been the full creative journey: acting, singing, making new music, and finally getting to do things I should've started years ago. I'm busy shooting, creating music, working on exciting songs, and spending quality time with my family. There's hardly any time to sit still, and I wouldn't want it any other way. These changes have been for the better. I feel positive, peaceful, and aligned with where I'm headed. Not many know, but I have a proper recording studio at home and am constantly surrounded by artists and creativity. That's my space now, purely artistic and forward-moving. Fitness has also played a huge role in keeping me grounded and focused. Work has always been my therapy, and staying creatively engaged is what keeps me strong. Are you open to finding love again, or is your focus solely on your career at the moment? I've always been extremely focused on my goals, whether it was during my time as a dentist or now in the entertainment industry. Back then, my aim was to be a flourishing dentist, have the best practice, and have a grateful flow of patients. I worked every single day towards being the best version of myself. When I transitioned into dance, started my own academy, choreographed, and created viral videos, my attitude remained the same. Meri classes best honi chahiye. I wanted to inspire students, share my knowledge of dance, and help build perfect personalities. It's never just about teaching steps; it's also about how you carry and present yourself in front of the audience. Ye sab sirf tabhi possible hai jab aap super focused ho. Now, with acting and singing, working in both Bollywood and the Telugu industry, my focus is exactly where it needs to be on doing bigger, better projects and entertaining people in a way that inspires them to focus on the positives. Pyaar ki baat karein, toh you can't plan these things. Aap ye decide nahi kar sakte ke main aaj ya ek saal baad pyaar mein padhungi. Love is a different entity altogether. What matters most to me is mera focus aur main apne life mein aage kya dekh rahi hoon. Right now, it's all about work, growth, and apne aap ko present karna in the best way possible. Aur agar naseeb mein achha likha hai, then why not—who doesn't want love in life? But for now, I'm focusing on my career and giving it my all.

She also talked about misconceptions about her which spread around the time of her divorce. When asked how she has grown as a person since the divorce, Dhanashree told Bombay Times, "The challenges life throws at you teach you some of the most valuable and beautiful lessons. The biggest thing I have learnt is the importance of self-reliance and how my parents have raised a strong daughter. Dhanashree and Yuzvendra had a highly publicised divorce. There were initial rumours about Dhanashree demanding ₹ 60 crore as alimony. I am focusing on my personal growth and professional commitments and would want it to be the leading narrative of my life," she added during the conversation. Dhanashree Verma and Yuzvendra Chahal finalised their divorce on March 20. She hopes that her journey has inspired others to strengthen their shield and weapons. Dancing, singing, and acting make me feel alive, as it is my passion, and it is enough to keep me positive. I stay true to my values and beliefs and keep on reminding myself of the reason why I started this journey. There are tough times, but my passion for my craft helps me stay focused and strong. Dhanashree Verma Reacts To Troll Attacks After Divorce With Yuzvendra Chahal: "Never Really Bothered Me"
Cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal and content creator Dhanashree Verma, who tied the knot in December 2020, officially ended their marriage on March 20, 2025. The divorce came as a shock to many fans and led to relentless public attention, along with rumours that Chahal is dating popular RJ Mahvash. Amid the swirling speculation and public scrutiny, Verma opened up for the first time about how she has dealt with the aftermath of the divorce. In a conversation with the Times of India, Verma revealed how she managed to rise above the continuous negativity and public criticism. "It doesn't bother me at all!" she shared, "I have surrounded myself with great inner strength, and I am so dedicated that my focus has always been on my work, as I have a lot of responsibilities. I have guarded myself and have built myself so strong that I just focus on my work, which will speak for everything. The negativity and public criticism have never really bothered me since Day 1, and it will never bother me ever.' Dhanashree said she takes each day and challenge as lessons learned; some of which, she says, are the "most valuable and beautiful lessons". She describes this as a phase of "growth and self-discovery". Verma has been the target of several rumours, including being branded a gold digger. However, she said she does not want to address such accusations, and that she believes that clarifying them only invites more speculation. "Clarifying misconceptions often leads to more speculation, and if I would want any speculation, I would want it to be only and only around my work," she told the Times of India. The 28-year-old has channelled all her energy into her personal growth and career. She emphasises the importance of surrounding herself with positivity and staying clear about her goals. She wants her personal growth and professional commitments, rather than her love life, to be the "leading narrative of her life". Verma recently returned to the spotlight with a special dance number titled Ting Ling Sajna in Bhool Chuk Maaf, starring Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi. The romantic comedy, directed by Karan Sharma, was released in theatres on May 23. Dhanashree and Yuzvendra, who were married for five years, began dating during the Covid lockdown, when the cricketer signed up for Verma's online dance classes. They were married in December 2020, and lived separately for 18 months before the divorce came through in March 2025.
