THE Windsor Pickleball Club is still reeling with excitiement following the successful hosting of the innaugral championship, bringing together players of all ages for a fun-filled day of competition and camaraderie. The championship began with the Juniors Mixed Doubles category, featuring 10 enthusiastic young players aged nine to 16. Among the juniors, Timothy Joubert and Jennifer-Jayne Miller emerged victorious in the boys' and girls' categories respectively, impressing spectators with their skill and sportsmanship. As the day progressed, the Adult Mixed Rotating Doubles competition took centre stage, with Juan Joubert and Jess Bothma delivering an exceptional performance to claim first place. In the men's and ladies set partners division, Jon Sacks and Salim Allibhai excelled in the men's category, while Bothma and Daisy Ballantine dominated the ladies' side with their remarkable gameplay. Louise Joubert, the event organiser, expressed her delight at the tournament's success. 'It was wonderful to see players of all ages come together to enjoy pickleball and showcase their talent. The enthusiasm and friendly spirit displayed throughout the event highlighted the sense of community we aim to foster here at Windsor Pickleball Club,' she said. The club also invited attendees to explore its regular social sessions, held multiple times a week, and encouraged newcomers to experience the joy of pickleball first-hand. 'Its R60 per session, players can take part in social games, meet like-minded individuals, and stay active in a welcoming environment. Court bookings are also available for those seeking to sharpen their skills at their convenience,' said Joubert. If you're looking for a sport that combines exercise, community, and sheer enjoyment, pickleball might just be the perfect fit. The club's weekly sessions include Wednesday evenings from 18:00 to 20:00, Friday afternoons from 16:00 to18:00 and evenings from 18:30 to 20:30, Saturday mornings from 08:00 to 10:00 and afternoons from 16:00 to 18:00, and Sunday afternoons from 15:00 to 17:00.
