Martin Clunes to star in huge Hollywood movie with Margot Robbie

Doc Martin star Martin Clunes has signed up for a huge-budget film that will see him star alongside Margot Robbie as well as Euphoria actor Jacob Elordi Martin Clunes is set to star in a major Hollywood film, alongside big names like Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi. The Doc Martin actor's next role will be in the upcoming Wuthering Heights, directed by Emerald Fennell, slated for release in February 2026. However, many details about the film remain a secret. ‌ In a recent interview with The i Paper, Martin unveiled his involvement in this "massive, Warner Brothers, huge-budget movie, all built on sets at Elstree". ‌ He will take on the character of Mr Earnshaw, father of Catherine Earnshaw, in Wuthering Heights. Margot Robbie is set to play Catherine, while Jacob Elordi will portray Heathcliff. Other cast members include Hong Chau as Nelly Dean and Shazad Latif as Edgar Linton, with Alison Oliver playing Isabella Linton. Owen Cooper, Charlotte Mellington, and Vy Nguyen will also feature as young Heathcliff, teenage Catherine, and young Nelly respectively, reports Wales Online. Wuthering Heights is based on Emily Brontë's 1847 novel of the same name, which explores the turbulent relationship between Catherine and Heathcliff, an orphan adopted by Catherine's family. If the film stays true to the book, audiences can anticipate a gripping story of love and revenge set in 19th-century Yorkshire, with themes of social class, obsession, and love taking centre stage. ‌ Emerald is set for her third venture with LuckyChap Entertainment, the production company helmed by Margot Robbie, her spouse Tom Ackerley, and Josey McNamara. She has previously joined forces with them for the acclaimed films Promising Young Woman and Saltburn. Although Emerald has kept quiet about the particulars of her upcoming adaptation of Wuthering Heights, her fascination with gothic themes is no secret. In a piece for the Los Angeles Times, Emerald confided: "I've always been obsessed with the gothic. Whether it was Edward Gorey's children who are variously choked by peaches, sucked dry by leeches or smothered by rugs; Du Maurier's imperilled heroines or the disturbing erotic power of Angela Carter's fairy tales, the gothic world has always had me in its grip." She continued: "It's a genre where comedy and horror, revulsion and desire, sex and death are forever entwined, where every exchange is heavy with the threat of violence, or sex or both."

Vera star Kenny Doughty's life from Coronation Street to his famous co-star wife

Kenny Doughty was a well-known face on ITV as he starred in Vera as DS Aiden Healy for 10 years before his exit from the show and he also had a short-lived role in Corrie Actor Kenny Doughty, who stole hearts as DS Aiden Healy in ITV's hit crime drama Vera alongside Brenda Blethyn's DCI Vera Stanhope, has bid farewell to the show that made him a household name. Having joined forces with the Northumberland and City Police back in 2014 and dedicating a whole decade to aiding on-screen crime solving, Kenny announced he would be leaving the role of Aiden. ‌ Although he remained tight-lipped about the reasons for leaving initially, earlier this year, in an emotional revelation to The i Paper, he disclosed it was all due to his stepdad's terminal cancer diagnosis. ‌ Kenny paid a heartfelt tribute: "Steve was a glorious, delightful man," expressing his deep admiration, "I was proud to refer to him as my 'dad', not my stepfather." Moreover, he fondly recalled Steve's influence on his life, crediting him for teaching valuable lessons. "He was a lecturer in agriculture when he met my mum, and he taught me how to be a better man," Kenny's final months with his stepdad were both poignant and personal, involving a hands-on project of building a wooden house together in Ireland. "It was a no-brainer, choosing to quit work and spend those last six months with him. We built a wooden house together by their home in Ireland and he taught me about wood, joinery, carpentry," Kenny shared, encapsulating the irreplaceable time they spent together, reports Devon Live. Vera itself concluded with its last episode in April 2025 following Brenda Blethyn's departure. ‌ Kenny was born in Barnsley and raised by his single mother, who pursued education after parting ways with his father when Kenny was still young. After earning a BA in English literature, she became a successful businesswoman and provided mentorship for community members. Kenny initiated his acting career with small parts in films such as I Want You and Elizabeth, Heartbeat and the comedy series Dinnerladies. He has featured in numerous popular television programmes; however, his role as Sean in the Sky series Stella in 2012 brought him more fame. ‌ Kenny's Corrie role Soap fans will recall Kenny as builder Jake Harman in Coronation Street back in 2009. Jake was introduced to the cobbles when local businessman Dev Alahan (Jimmi Harkishin) employed him to repair a roof. In a comical scene, he falls from a ladder and ends up hanging outside Michelle Connor's (Kym Marsh) bathroom window. ‌ After assisting Jake to safety, Michelle accidentally dropped her towel and he planted a kiss on her. A displeased Michelle dismissed him and reported Jake to the police for stalking before they briefly dated. Kenny has also appeared in some of television's most popular series including Heartbeat, Stella, Wire in the Blood, Casualty, and more. ‌ In 2013, the actor played Gaz in a UK tour and the West End production of Simon Beaufoy's stage play The Full Monty. This year, Kenny made a comeback to prime time television in Channel 5 drama The Au Pair, where he portrayed the character Chris for four episodes. ‌ Kenny's famous wife Kenny has found love again with well-known actress Ashley Jensen, 55, acclaimed for her appearances in Extras, Shetland, and Agatha Raisin. He's taken on the role of stepfather to Ashley's teenage lad, Frankie. The two actors joined forces onscreen for the BBC One drama Love, Lies, and Records back in 2017. Hailing from Scotland, Ashley portrayed Kate Dickenson in the esteemed drama series, with Kenny stepping into the shoes of the character Rick Severs. ‌ Their budding romance blossomed a few years following the tragic passing of Ashley's spouse, Terence Beesley, whose credits included The Bill, EastEnders, Heartbeat, and Midsomer Murders. Ashley and Terence's decade-long marriage was blessed with a son, Francis. In an intimate reveal to The i Paper, Kenny shared his views on parenting, saying: "I don't see much difference between being a step-parent and a parent," and "You're parenting either way. You want the best for your child. I adore Frankie as if he was my son." Previously, Kenny was hitched to fellow actress Caroline Carver, whom he starred with both in Holby City and the poignant 2004 film The Aryan Couple.

Brit reveals what it's really like to buy a 85p house in Italy – and the amazing secret he found inside

Under local Italian law, the contents of the house were included in the sale ITALIAN ESCAPE Brit reveals what it's really like to buy a 85p house in Italy – and the amazing secret he found inside A JEWELLERY dealer swapped the UK for Italy and bought a house for just 85p - and the property came with a surprise. George Laing, 32, was handed the keys to the abandoned four-bed house in the Sicilian town of Mussomeli in 2022. 2 George found an 18-carat gold chain, which was valued at £851 at the home in Mussomeli Credit: George Laing 2 He also unearthed a 19th-century 14-carat emerald stone ring Credit: George Laing It was part of Italy's popular €1 homes scheme, set up to encourage the renovations of crumbling, yet beautiful, properties. When he moved in he realised very quickly that he had his work cut out. The electrics, plumbing, bathrooms, structural repairs and roof update all needed doing. He told The i Paper: "It wasn't liveable at all when I bought it.' However, after a few years of hard graft, George is now able to live in his Italian dream house while he works on the renovations. He has almost finished the whole top floor of the property. In an attempt to save the pennies, he is doing up the entire house on his own. He has estimated his final costs to be between €5,000 and €10,000. "Someone else renovating the exact same property could have easily spent €40,000 or more,' he said. The house spreads over 1,291 square feet over three floors. Watch the video to see inside the family-of-seven's caravan home It has two bathrooms and a small balcony with views over the town. He stumbled across some hidden treasure tucked away in various nooks of the house. A purse filled with gold jewellery was stashed in a bedside table drawer. Then he came across a padlocked chest in the kitchen, which had a biscuit tin inside. However, it wasn't filled with biscotti - it carried eight ring boxes. The most valuable pieces were an 18-carat gold chain, which was valued at £851 and a 19th-century 14-carat emerald stone ring with pearls valued at £595. Despite keeping a few pieces aside for himself, he auctioned around £2,127 of the stash. As well as jewellery, there were plenty of antiques, including a vintage 1950s hen clock, a collection of postcards, religious statues, crystal vases and an antique gilded mirror. Italian law states that as the new owner of the house, George is the rightful owner of the antiques. The house has been abandoned for decades and the heirs of the property had no interest in personal belongings left in the house. So under Italian local law, the contents of the house were included with the purchase. George decided to move to Italy after becoming fed up with the soaring cost of living in the UK. He said: 'I was spending well over £1,300 a month for my small one-bedroom flat. "The private water and electricity companies have increased their rates by 400 per cent over the last five years. "The UK taxes me 40 per cent on my wages. A cup of coffee is £5. 'Once you add this all together I was just about surviving in London even though I was working full time and doing other projects on the side to make money." He said that he decided he needed to make a change and wanted to "thrive, not survive".

Fern Britton speaks out on her weight loss after wowing fans with transformation

Former This Morning star Fern Britton has spoken out about her recent weight loss, after wowing fans with her incredible transformation as she shared a snap of herself working out TV star Fern Britton has opened up about weight loss after she wowed fans earlier this year with her own transformation. The TV presenter turned author, 67, left fans speechless last month as she posted a photo of herself in front of a mirror with exercise weights placed in front of her. As she posted the photo on the platform, Fern told her fans she was "repowering after a sloth like winter". ‌ Former This Morning star Fern was soon flooded with compliments as one wrote: "Wow Fern you look fabulous, let us know your routine please. x" As another added: "You look incredible fern! All the hardwork has paid off! Fitness never felt so good! Xxx". While a third penned: "Wow you look amazing Fern, I need to know your secrets desperately". ‌ Since then, Fern has been sharing more jaw-dropping snaps of herself on social media, but is yet to share her secret. But now, in a new interview, Fern has discussed weight loss. When the topic of jabs being used to aid weight loss comes up, Fern insists: "I don't do any of that." "But I think that there are many tools in the box for people to get fit and lose weight and whatever they choose, I applaud them, because they are doing it for themselves. They're doing it, probably for their children…" she told The i Paper before adding: "That stuff was all a long time ago, and it's all irrelevant to me." Fern has previously come under unfair scrutiny over her choice of weight loss tactics in the past. In 2008, Fern revealed she had a gastric band fitted two years earlier. Gastric surgery reduces the capacity of a person's stomach and slows down the passage of food, helping people lose weight by making them feel fuller after eating fewer calories. Speaking out after the cruel backlash, Fern appeared on This Morning and addressed her weight loss. She said she had the operation "for me, because I wanted to. I didn't feel that I had the need to ring around and let everyone know - in fact, only five people knew, including my husband", The Guardian reports. She added: "I didn't expect that there would be such enormous interest in body image and perception." ‌ At the time, Fern was married to her second husband; TV chef Phil Vickery, who supported her weight loss. He said at the time: "Fern has cut right back on carbohydrates and eats a really healthy diet now with loads of vegetables and fruit." Fern and Phil were together for 20 years before announcing their split in 2020. It was claimed the pair maintained a 'basic' level of communication after their break-up, but Fern has since revealed she didn't hear another word from him since her mum Ruth died in 2018. In an interview with Yours magazine, Fern admitted: "He hasn't spoken to me for six years now. As soon as my mum died, he stopped talking to me." The Celebrity Big Brother 2024 contestant insists she tries "very hard" to not "bad-mouth" Phil for the sake of their 23-year-old daughter Winnie. ‌ She said: "Winnie adores him. I'm not going to bad-mouth him in front of her; at least, I try very hard not to. I was the child of divorced parents and my mum never bad-mouthed my father." The presenter - who has now quit the world of TV to write her own novels, says she's channelled her heartbreak into her new career. Her latest book, A Cornish Legacy, is about grief, friendship, marital abuse and divorce.
