Rosslare RNLI mourn the passing of June Ellard, a dedicated supporter for more than five decades

Those in June's home village of Carne, as well as Rosslare Harbour and surrounding areas, will have been well used to the sight of the grandmother (and great grandmother) busily selling tickets to raise funds for Rosslare RNLI. Working behind the bar at The Lighthouse Bar in Carne, she always made sure that there was room there for the RNLI collection box. June was a mainstay at all local events and was part of the fabric of the community on the south Wexford coast. Rosslare RNLI Operations Manager Jamie Ryan was deeply saddened by the news of June's passing and paid tribute to 'a wonderful lady'. "June raised funds for Rosslare Harbour lifeboat for close on 50 years,' he said. 'She was a ticket seller supreme. She always asked how she could help and always excelled. June never missed a barbecue at Ballytrent." Jamie went on to say how Carne Lifeboat Day was a beloved occasion for June and plans were already afoot for a special event this year. "June was a lady of immense dedication to her family, friends and the lifeboat institution,' he said. 'She celebrated her 80th birthday in May of last year at The Lighthouse in her beloved Carne and we at Rosslare Harbour RNLI were privileged to be part of those joyful proceedings. "May this wonderful lady rest in peace.' June was the beloved wife of the late Sean and a loving mother to Caroline, Irene and Norman. She was a sister to Frances, Ronnie, Fintan, Aileen, Declan, Pauline, Raymond and the late Jackie, Jimmy and Sam. June is sadly missed by her loving family, daughter-in-law, Joyce, brothers-in-laws, sisters-in-law, grandchildren Dayle, Yasmin, Shay, Shannon, Sean and Cathal, great-grandchildren Khaia and Aria, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. June's remains will repose in Mulligan's Funeral Home, The Faythe, Wexford, on Thursday and Friday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Removal will take place from Carne Pier on Saturday at 11.30 a.m. to the Church of the Assumption, Our Lady's Island, for funeral mass at 12 noon. Burial will take place afterwards at Our Lady's Island Cemetery.
