He believes in being open with them about his mistakes. For him, it's important that they know it's okay to fall — but it's also important to stand up again. 'When you're a little one and Pops leaves at 10, you've got to figure it out, right?' he said, referring to his own childhood. 'The last 10 years have been the greatest time of my life.' He added, 'What I've taught them is: you've got to stand up, you've got to earn it, you've got to work hard, you've got to be honest. You're going to make mistakes, but you've got to get back up and get back up to that plate like you're ready to go again.' Rodriguez is still not in the Baseball Hall of Fame. But for his daughters, he's teaching what really matters, how to grow, learn, and keep going no matter what.
