Breakup Rumours That Surrounded Dakota Johnson, Chris Martin Before ‘Final' Split
Dakota Johnson and Chris Martin had been together for nearly eight years in an on-and-off relationship. Dakota Johnson and Chris Martin have officially called it quits. A news report confirms that the couple, who had been in a relationship since 2017, have now ended their nearly eight-year-long romance. Known for keeping their relationship mostly private, the two had been together in an on-and-off dynamic for several years. As per People, who cited a source close to the couple, the breakup 'feels final this time." Neither Johnson nor Martin has commented publicly on the report. While this is being seen as a final split, the pair has been subject to breakup rumours in the past as well. The Coldplay frontman and the Fifty Shades of Grey actress were first linked in October 2017 after they were spotted dining together at a popular restaurant in Los Angeles. Over the months that followed, Johnson was seen attending Martin's concerts, including a show in Buenos Aires. Eventually, her father, Don Johnson, confirmed the relationship publicly in early 2018. Though they kept most details of their relationship away from the spotlight, Johnson often accompanied Martin during his tours, and the two were frequently seen together. But in 2019, reports claimed they had broken up. Those rumours were dismissed later that year when Martin supported Johnson at a wrap party for her film The High Note. A source later confirmed to E! News that the couple was still going strong. 'They're planning to spend more time together later this summer," the source said at the time. In March 2024, People reported that the couple had actually been engaged 'for years" but were in no hurry to get married. Then in August, breakup rumours surfaced again when a Daily Mail source claimed, 'Chris and Dakota have tried desperately hard over the past few months to make their relationship work. They'll always have love for each other but they've both come to the conclusion the relationship cannot be sustained long-term." 'They're both busy people, Chris has been in Europe with Coldplay and they both have personal priorities, passions, and work commitments which don't naturally intertwine with each other. They wanted it to work but it just hasn't, and they've now accepted it is best to move on," the insider continued. But Johnson's representative shut down the claims saying the two were 'happily together." Around the same time, an insider told People, 'Sure, they've had issues and taken breaks in the past, but things are great now. They both love their careers. They are balancing things the best they can." The last time the pair were seen together publicly was on May 16 in Malibu. Earlier this year, in January, they were also photographed holding hands during Coldplay's tour stop in India. Now, just weeks after their last public appearance, the relationship has reportedly come to an end. Dakota Johnson is next seen in Materialists, releasing in theatres on June 13, where she stars alongside Chris Evans and Pedro Pascal. Meanwhile, Chris Martin is currently touring with Coldplay as part of their Music of the Spheres world tour. It is set to conclude in London on September 8 this year. First Published:

Step Inside Dakota Johnson, Chris Martin's Universe After Their Split
Originally appeared on E! Online Sadly, nothing is going to fix Chris Martin and Dakota Johnson's romance. Indeed, the couple has called it quits eight years after they first began dating in 2017, and confirmed their engagement last March, multiple sources told People. E! News has reached out to reps for Chris and Dakota but has not yet heard back. The Coldplay frontman—who shares Apple Martin, 21, and Moses Martin, 19, with ex Gwyneth Paltrow—and the Fifty Shades of Grey star were first linked in October 2017 when they were photographed grabbing a bite at the celebrity hot spot Sushi Park in Los Angeles. Chris and Dakota were seen out several times in the following months, with Dakota even attending one of Martin's concerts in Buenos Aires, Argentina, for Coldplay's Head Full of Dreams tour. As their romance progressed, Dakota became a regular fixture at Chris' shows, and even toured with him, but it wasn't until her dad Don Johnson seemingly confirmed their romance in January 2018 that the relationship became official. More from E! Online Dakota Johnson and Chris Martin Break Up After Nearly 8 Years Together Tim McGraw and Faith Hill's Daughter Gracie Celebrates Queer Identity in Pride Month Post Ellen Pompeo Detained for Hour by TSA and Bomb Squad Over Erewhon Sunflower Seeds At the time, Don joked his daughter dating Chris was 'troubling,' to Digital Spy, before assuring, 'No, she's a big girl, she can handle herself!' Later that same year, the couple sparked pregnancy rumors when TMZ reported they had thrown a gender reveal party at Chris' Los Angeles home—which saw Dakota's dad and mom Melanie Griffith, as well as Julia Roberts in attendance. However, the Social Network alum shut down the noise in an Ellen interview saying, 'The only thing I'm pregnant with is a lot of really good ideas, but not any babies.' Despite not welcoming any children of her own, Dakota was quickly welcomed by Chris' children and ex shortly after the false alarm. In fact, the Goop founder formally gave her stamp of approval in November 2018. 'Gwyneth thinks she is lovely,' a source told E! News. 'She gets on very well with her and is happy for Chris. They've spent a good amount of time together and have a very nice friendship." Rest assured, the kids were just as welcoming, with the source adding, 'The kids really like Dakota and enjoy spending time with her.' However, the pair's first roadblock came in 2019, when multiple outlets claimed the pair had split up. In August of that year, Dakota and Chris laid the rumors to rest when he supported her at a wrap party for her film The High Note, as seen in photos shared to social media. A source later confirmed they were still together, telling E! News at the time, 'They're planning to spend more time together later this summer.' The insider also added that an engagement was imminent for the couple, and, in 2024, they confirmed they had been engaged for 'years.' And on the couple continued in para-para paradise. For Dakota's birthday that fall, Gwyneth proved Dakota and Chris were as strong as ever by sharing a happy birthday post for her—and her friendship with Dakota only continued to grow with time. 'I love her,' Gwyneth told Harper's Bazaar in 2020. 'I can see how it would seem weird because it's sort of unconventional. But I think, in this case, just having passed through it iteratively, I just adore her.' The feeling was mutual for Dakota—especially when it came to her relationship with Chris' kids. 'I love those kids like my life depends on it,' she told Bustle last year. 'With all my heart.' By late 2024, breakup rumors began to surface once more—but a rep for the couple told E! News at the time that it was 'not true,' adding, 'They are happily together.' Less than a year later, though, Dakota and Chris' breakup was confirmed. Alexandra Loewy joins Miramax as President of Film
Loewy will work directly with Miramax CEO Jonathan Glickman. Miramax has appointed veteran film executive Alexandra Loewy as President of Film, marking her return to the studio where she began her career over two decades ago. Starting out as an assistant in Miramax's New York office, Loewy will now assume a top leadership role at the company, officially stepping into the position on May 27. She will be based in Los Angeles and report directly to Miramax CEO Jonathan Glickman, according to a report by Deadline. Glickman praised Loewy's appointment, highlighting her distinctive ability to identify standout projects and nurture emerging talent. 'Ali has a rare talent for spotting clutter-busting ideas and breakout filmmakers, pairing sharp creative instincts with real commercial firepower,' he said. 'She's exactly the kind of leader we need to take Miramax's legacy into its next chapter.' Her appointment follows the March hiring of Alix Jaffe, formerly of Village Roadshow, as Miramax's Television President, signaling a broader leadership restructuring at the studio. Prior to joining Miramax, Loewy served for over six years as President of Working Title Films, where she managed the company's Los Angeles office. During her tenure, she was executive producer of Coralie Fargeat's Oscar-nominated The Substance, as well as Nisha Ganatra's The High Note. She also oversaw production on Genie, a Peacock original film directed by Sam Boyd and written by Richard Curtis, featuring Melissa McCarthy and Paapa Essiedu. Earlier in her career, Loewy held the role of Senior Vice President of Production & Development at di Bonaventura Pictures. There, she supervised production on the global box office hit The Meg, which grossed over $529m worldwide and led to a sequel. She also developed the action thriller Plane for Lionsgate, starring Gerard Butler. Additional leadership roles included a tenure as Senior Vice President at Global Produce and previous work at Red Wagon, where she played a key role in discovering and developing Veronica Roth's Divergent series before it became a bestselling franchise.
