JPMorgan Hikes Sapphire Reserve Fee to $795 in Card Overhaul

(Bloomberg) — JPMorgan Chase & Co. (JPM) will hike the annual fee on its popular Sapphire Reserve credit card to $795 and launch a similarly priced version for businesses as part of an overhaul marking the biggest US bank's latest volley in the ultra-competitive world of premium credit cards. Security Concerns Hit Some of the World's 'Most Livable Cities' As Part of a $45 Billion Push, ICE Prepares for a Vast Expansion of Detention Space As American Architects Gather in Boston, Retrofits Are All the Rage How E-Scooters Conquered (Most of) Europe The new fee is an increase for the consumer version, which has been $550 a year since 2020. JPMorgan is also reshaping its rewards for the cards, according to a statement Tuesday, placing more emphasis on the bank's own travel and dining offerings that it assembled through a series of acquisitions and investments in recent years. Lenders have been locked in a fierce rewards battle to lure affluent customers for about a decade. American Express Co. (AXP) announced Monday that it is making its 'largest investment ever' in a refresh of its travel-focused Platinum cards for consumers and businesses. Capital One Financial Corp. (COF) has a premium travel card of its own, and Wells Fargo & Co. (WFC) has one in the works, Bloomberg News reported in February. JPMorgan is adding a slew of annual credits to the Sapphire Reserve card, including $500 toward its 'The Edit' collection of hotels and resorts and, for the consumer version, $300 toward exclusive tables on restaurant reservations app OpenTable. An existing $300 travel credit will continue as well. 'It's the culmination of five years of investment that we've made across Chase in completely uplifting and repositioning what we mean for premium travelers in the premium-card space,' Allison Beer, JPMorgan's head of card and connected commerce, said in an interview. 'This is about having the best-in-class travel assets and an end-to-end travel experience.' Cardholders will earn eight points per dollar spent on Chase Travel, changed from five points per dollar on flights and 10 points on hotels and car rentals. Customers will also get four points per dollar spent on flights and hotels booked directly, up from three points, and three points per dollar spent on dining. JPMorgan's latest overhaul incorporates a number of acquisitions it has made over the past half-decade and 'connecting all of those investments into a completely new service offering,' Beer said. That includes rewards business cxLoyalty, a deal announced in late 2020; restaurant review platform The Infatuation in 2021; and marketing platform Figg and luxury travel agency Frosch in 2022. The firm has also opened half a dozen airport lounges across the US that cardholders can access, with more planned. Marianne Lake, head of consumer and community banking, outlined JPMorgan's vision at the firm's investor day in 2022. 'Travel is at the center of our card business,' she said at the time, adding that the bank would become a full-service travel agency. At this year's investor day, held last month, Lake said JPMorgan more than doubled its travel volume from 2021 to 2024, and that the business remains 'a massive opportunity.' Half of Chase's new customers come through the card business, Lake said last month. The Sapphire refresh dovetails with another JPMorgan growth push: wealth management. Chief Executive Officer Jamie Dimon has long sought to expand that business, and in late 2019 created a new unit within the consumer and community bank intended to capture more market share. 'Customers eventually deepen with the rest of the ecosystem, so they start with the Sapphire Reserve card and then they open a self-directed account, or they open a Chase wealth-management account, and they continue to deepen,' Beer said. She joined JPMorgan in 2017 after more than seven years at American Express and rose quickly through the ranks of the consumer business, taking on her current role in 2021. Shoppers race to Primark for ‘dressy top' that's perfect for a pair of jeans – it's sexy & flattering & in two colours

PRIMARK released a new collection of 'dressy jobs' that are perfect for a 'jeans and a nice top' outfit. Announcing the arrival of the tops on @prmark_lincoln TikTok, they are sure to sell out fast. 2 2 The tops are sleeveless but feature a high neck at the front and a dip at the back, with draping on both sides. There is a gold clasp across the shoulders to stop the top from falling off the shoulders and it adds a sexy touch. Made from a stretchy material, the top will fit all shapes and sizes. And the drapes will flatter curves. They come in a pastel blue and black, which will look great with a variety of jean colours. The best part, the tops are only £8 each! They can be worn on holiday with a skirt, for date night or brunch with the girls. If you're looking for a top with a little more coverage, but still the same flattering draping, Primark is also selling a Sleeveless Draped Top. The online product description reads: "A fresh take on the essential sleeveless top, this white top from The Edit elevates any outfit with its elegant draping. Fashion fans are 'loving' Primark's new £6 Zara dupe - it's a summer essential, half the price and 'so cute' "The gathered side details create movement and shape, while the sleeveless design keeps you cool through warmer days. "Style it tucked into a midi skirt for garden parties, or team with wide leg trousers for a polished look. "Add gold-toned accessories to complement the clean palette." The top comes in white and also the same pastel blue as the dressy top. It's priced at £14 and available to Click and Collect if you can't stomach an in-store Primark shopping trip.

How to get 'The White Lotus' look in your home interiors

As HBO's The White Lotus streams on Sky for a third season, the covetable décor co-stars with the cast. The social satire returns to our screens with the usual unfulfilled, jaded and entitled guests staying at a holiday resort, but the role played by the set design sometimes almost eclipses the action and always gets the trendsters talking up the looks. After lush tropical Hawaiian scenes in season one, and the dramatic, maximalist Sicilian location of season two, the action unfolds again in five-star surroundings, this time on a Thai island, with set design far from the maximalism of series one, which, incidentally, caused a surge of interest in the Sicilian ceramic vases known as testa di moro, with Etsy reporting a 20% increase in searches. Season three is at the Four Seasons, Koh Samui, where sleek sofas sit comfortably with traditional Thai cabinetry, and modern mattresses are happy bedfellows with four-posters draped in silk sheers. Bill Bensley, architect and interior designer of the hotel when it was built 25 years ago, described the vibe as, ''Thai vernacular set in a tamed jungle'. Production designer Christina Onori adds in textures, heritage woods and botanical prints for a mix of sophistication and relaxed boho. Think handcrafted, or the look of it, with rattan, ceramic lamps and painted shades. Lounging around There's a whole lot of lying around doing absolutely nothing across the episodes, but not like the start of a fortnight in Spain lying prone on a sun lounger to combat work fatigue. This is lounging as a lifestyle with requisite linen-upholstered daybeds and rattan sofas. The Aruba garden corner sofa, footstool, side and coffee tables set; €1,599, EZ Living Interiors. Get the look: Outdoor furniture which looks like it would be equally at home indoors is what you're aiming for. Get yourself an entire outdoor set with the Aruba corner sofa, footstool, and coffee and side tables; €1,599, EZ Living Interiors. Spring for the taupe Rafa long chair in teak, with its daybed design; €4,400, The Pavilion Garden Centre. Bring nature in In the era of bifold doors, we're loving spaces flowing between inside and out. Of course, we don't have summers of perpetual sun, but we excel at making the most of a few sunny hours and can achieve boutique hotel-style patios with textiles. The Edit's neutral cushions are high on texture with an artisan feel to help layer a summer look; from €28, Penneys. Get the look: Carolyn Donnelly's Eclectic collection has stripe and boxy blue and green cushions; €20, Dunnes Stores, or there's The Edit range of warm neutrals suggesting artisan handmade and a more elevated offering than we're used to from Penneys; from €28. Monkeys and murals Never fast-forward the opening credits, or you'll miss dramatic murals hinting at location and the ensuing drama. Monkeys feature, drawn and real, silently observing guest shenanigans from the trees. Add the theme to the décor without actually acquiring a new pet. Get the look: Try a sitting, standing or hanging monkey lamp; €285, or the Valuelights version in gold metallic; €45, B&Q. Make a bigger statement with an exotic addition to the bathroom with the Monkey Sanctuary wallpaper mural by Sir Edward, made to size; €49 per metre square, Colour chart Orange surprises in an otherwise muted palette, popping up in art, fabric and parasols. Its association with Buddhism and the quest for spiritual enlightenment might be lost on characters whose only quest is the next spa treatment, but it does bring cheeriness with it. A version of orange which has something in common with on-trend warm neutrals can introduce the colour with subtlety, like the Harvest Moon paint by Benjamin Moore; from €29, Albany. Get the look: For underfoot, the Fading World Medallion rug is a subtle touch; from €189, unless you go all in with Farrow & Ball's Drag wallpaper in uncharacteristically bright orange; €119.30, or tone things down with Benjamin Moore's Desert Moon paint in a nice flat version; from €29, Spoiler alert Look away now if you haven't watched the series yet, as we can't talk about The White Lotus without speaking of Tanya McQuoid-Hunt, played by Jennifer Coolidge. She's conspicuous by her absence this season thanks to her ex Greg, who is lying low at the resort, living on her money while staying out of the reach of the Italian police who want him in connection with her murder. Get the look: Pay homage to the character with the Tanya McQuoid-Hunt Legends Never Die poster; €18.35, and maybe add in another print: I Don't Even Have My Lorazepam, I'm Going to Have to Drink Myself To Sleep; €27.67, the latter based on a standout line delivered by Victoria, matriarch of the visiting dysfunctional Ratliff family, which despite all indications, actually leave the resort alive.
