Ballard on Prime Video: The Bosch spin-off trailer has been released, and it has fans excited like never before. The release date has also been announced after much anticipation. The series stars Maggie Q, along with Courtney Taylor, John Carroll Lynch, Michael Mosley, and others. What is Ballard about?
Ballard continues the legacy of Michael Connelly's bestselling novels, centering on Detective Renée Ballard (Maggie Q) as she takes charge of the LAPD's newly established and under-resourced cold case unit. Tasked with solving the city's most difficult and long-forgotten cases, she approaches each investigation with compassion and fierce resolve. As she delves into decades-old crimes including a serial killer's trail of victims and an unidentified murder case Ballard stumbles upon a perilous conspiracy rooted within the LAPD itself. With support from a group of dedicated volunteers and retired detective Harry Bosch (Titus Welliver), she must confront emotional scars, workplace obstacles, and deadly threats in her mission to uncover the truth.

The Bosch spin-off, Ballard will be released on 9th July 2025 on Prime Video.
Ballard trailer
The Ballard trailer was released on Prime Video's social media platforms with the caption, 'From Bosch creator Michael Conelly comes a new character - cold case detective Renée Ballard (Maggie Q). An investigator known for her determination, empathy, and ability to uncover conspiracies.'
Reacting to the trailer, one wrote, 'Maggie Q is a class act and under rated actor. Looking forward to seeing this.' Another added, 'This looks extremely fantastic, and while I wish it were a movie, I still believe the series' rhythm and storyline will be strong.'
A third went on to add, 'I didn't even knew how much I missed Maggie q on screen untill I saw Ballard.'
Meet the crew
Ballard is executive produced by Michael Connelly, Henrik Bastin, Michael Alaimo, Kendall Sherwood, Trish Hofmann, Jet Wilkinson, and Melissa Aouate. Jasmine Russ joins the team as co-executive producer on behalf of Fabel Entertainment, with Jamie Boscardin Martin and Trey Batchelor also serving as co-executive producers. Additionally, Theresa Snider takes on the role of co-executive producer for Hieronymus Pictures.
