Shaq calls BS on Wilt Chamberlain's 20,000 women urban legend

The post Shaq calls BS on Wilt Chamberlain's 20,000 women urban legend appeared first on ClutchPoints. Shaquille O'Neal has never been one to mince words, and he wasn't about to start when the topic turned to Wilt Chamberlain's infamous claim. On a recent episode of The Big Podcast with Brandon Jennings and Adam Lefkoe, the Lakers legend flat-out dismissed Chamberlain's decades-old statement that he slept with 20,000 women, per Yahoo. His reaction? Pure disbelief laced with the kind of unfiltered commentary only Shaq can deliver. 'First of all, he didn't have no cell phone,' O'Neal pointed out, questioning the logistics of Chamberlain allegedly meeting and sleeping with nearly 20 women a day. 'You show up? You just pop up and there's 20 women waiting?' Shaq wasn't done. He broke it down, doing the kind of street-level math that brings this number into full-blown fantasy territory. 'A thousand women a year for 20 years? Get the f*** outta here,' he said. 'Who even knows 20,000 people?' While Shaq's delivery was laced with humor and disbelief, there was a real point behind the performance. His skepticism wasn't about hating on Chamberlain's legacy, it was about calling out what he sees as an exaggerated myth that's persisted in sports folklore for too long. Ironically, Chamberlain may have softened on the claim later in life. In his autobiography Wilt: Larger Than Life, the late Hall of Famer framed the number less as a verified count and more of a symbol. He admitted the 20,000 figure was chosen to illustrate how central sex was to his life—equally important, in his view, as basketball. 'We're all fascinated by numbers,' he said, referencing his historic 100-point game. 'So I thought of a number that was a round number… and I used that number.' But later in life, Chamberlain walked some of that bravado back. He acknowledged that while the playboy lifestyle got attention, it paled in comparison to the joy of a meaningful relationship. It was a sentiment that echoed the growth of a man once defined by records and excess, now leaning into reflection. Shaq's commentary might have come with jokes and expletives, but the underlying sentiment was serious. Legends grow, stories stretch, and sometimes, the best way to honor greatness is to separate the myth from the man. Shaq reveals the truth about long-standing NBA relationships rumor

Shaquille O'Neal pulled back the curtain on NBA players in relationships and explained what it's really like as a star player traveling from city to city. During a recent installment of the NBA legend's 'The Big Podcast,' co-host Adam Lefkoe mentioned 'every city you go to [as an NBA player], the women are looking for you.' However, O'Neal said that 'never happened' when he was in the league. Advertisement 'That's a myth,' the 53-year-old O'Neal said, 'I've been in a lot of lobbies — I didn't see anybody. So I remember I was coming in; they did this 'Esquire' article about how the girls would be waiting out. So, I was looking for that. Never happened. Never happened. Trust me, I was the baddest on the road. It never happened. You go and you see people.' Former NBA guard Brandon Jennings, who was a guest on the show, agreed with O'Neal. Advertisement The Basketball Hall of Famer explained it was difficult to make relationships work while living 'a tiger lifestyle' in the NBA. 'The problem with us is when you live a certain lifestyle, and then it all shuts down, you only know what you know,' O'Neal said. 'So, if you don't know the rules of commitment, it'll never work. And then, you know, us being not committed, everything is an excuse. Because once you say to somebody, 'I'm going to commit,' you've got to do your f–king job as a man. Right?' 4 Shaquille O'Neal pulled back the curtain on NBA players in relationships and explained what it's really like dating as a star player. YouTube/The Big Podcast 'Once I say, 'You're my girlfriend,' do your job as a man. Everything else is an excuse. All that — there is so much into that. Once I say I commit to you, I'm supposed to do that as a man. I didn't do that. That's why all s–t has always failed. Advertisement 'But if you live a tiger lifestyle and then you try to become a tame tiger — it ain't going to work. It's not going to work. So, you know, there's a reason why the divorce rate is high. Because we live a — and not all of us — but like, we live a certain lifestyle. And a lot comes with it. And then when that's all stopping, and you trying to go out and look for that, if you don't understand their rules and understand their laws — it'll never work.' Shaq on why Wilt Chamberlain saying he had sex with 20,000 women is a lie: "How you meeting 20 women a day?"

Shaq on why Wilt Chamberlain saying he had sex with 20,000 women is a lie: "How you meeting 20 women a day?" originally appeared on Basketball Network. As widely known as legendary center Wilt Chamberlain was for his on-court exploits, his off-court claims were just as shocking. Advertisement In 1991, Chamberlain boldly stated in his autobiography that he had slept with over 20,000 women in his lifetime. This number quickly became a topic of debate and fascination among fans and media. Fast forward to today, and Shaquille O'Neal decided to weigh in on Wilt's claim. In an interview on "The Big Podcast," he shared his thoughts on his outlandish assertion, calling it nothing but an exaggeration. An impossible feat The early days of the NBA were a different time, one where players allegedly engaged in promiscuous behavior and lived lavish lifestyles. Chamberlain, known for his larger-than-life personality, often made headlines with his incredible feats of basketball brilliance, highlighted, of course, by his 100-point game — an achievement that no player in the league has come close to doing. Advertisement However, O'Neal drew the line on Chamberlain's statement that he slept with 20,000 women in his lifetime, calling it an impossible act. "Nope, that's impossible. Because first of all, he didn't have no cell phone. So how you meeting 20 women a day?" O'Neal argued on his podcast. "If he would've said like 7,000, like 'I got it documented,' maybe. Like 19,400 letters or something. But he just went straight to 20?" Shaq continued. "No. Ain't nobody busting seven times a day out here. Hell no. No, they not. They don't have no way. A day, every day? Doing it seven times a day?" But despite his fame, Shaq doubts anyone can know that many people in a single lifetime. Advertisement "I did the math one day. I like to simplify it — 1,000 women a year for 20 years. That's what the f**k he did?" the 2000 league MVP shared. "Who the f**k knows 20,000 people? Nobody. Hell no. I probably only know 200 people. 200 people that I know. And then, like, I probably know another 700 associates that I've seen before. Ain't doing 1,000 women a year for 20 years. Get the f**k outta here. Hell no." Wilt previously explained how he came up with that figure, saying he was merely looking for a nice, round number to demonstrate how big a role sex had on his life as a professional basketball player. "We're all fascinated by the numbers, as we were about the 100 points. So, I thought of a number that was a round number that may be close and may be whatever, and I used that number," Wilt said. "But the point of using the number was to show that sex was a great part of my life as basketball was a great part of my life." The 10-time All-NBA Team member, though, had a change of heart later in life, saying having a playboy lifestyle was nothing compared to being in a committed relationship with the right woman. Brandon Jennings reveals why he called Jayson Tatum 'soft' Brandon Jennings recently appeared on 'The Big Podcast' where he was asked about the infamous comment he made when Tatum got hospitalized for having an Achilles tear. Jennings went on to say, 'Yeah, because I said Tatum was the softest Celtics' superstar ever. But I never say he wasn't great.' When asked to explain his reason for calling Tatum soft, the former NBA player went ahead and revealed the actual reason. 'I guess I'm going off because of Jaylen Brown getting Final MVPs and Easter Conference, and this is supposed to be your team in the moment. That's just like when you went to the Finals, and if Kobe would have got Finals MVP, it would have been looking like kind of like, well, Shaq ain't really like, you would be just looking like, well, Shaq ain't really like that, like when it comes down to it.' He also went ahead and added, 'So for a Celtics superstar, you know, and the toughness and what the Celtics bring…So, but that doesn't mean that he's not a great player. I just, you know, as far as what a Celtics.' Though he was berated on the podcast as well, where the NBA legend Shaquille O'Neal called him out for using the word. O'Neal went on to say that it was a harsh word, and there were other words that Jennings could have used, to which the latter had nothing to say. Shaquille O'Neal revisits history asserting bold statement on modern NBA stars: 'Nobody ever really played me straight up'

Shaquille O'Neal, one of the most dominant forces in NBA history, recently reignited conversation around the changing nature of basketball across eras. Appearing on episodes of The Big Podcast and New Heights, O'Neal reflected on his toughest battles, shared vivid memories of his legendary dunks, and sparked debate by pointing out which current players could have survived and thrived in his bruising, physical era. Shaquille O'Neal asserts that his era wasn't for the faint of heart Shaquille O'Neal. Image via: Getty Images Shaquille O'Neal admits not every game was a cakewalk. When Brandon Jennings asked about the toughest era he faced, Shaq replied without hesitation, 'That's a really unfair question because nobody ever really played me straight up,' he began. But he singled out the early 2000s, when the league introduced the 'Shaq Rules' as particularly challenging. 'When you can do the front and back, it got difficult for a while… with a guy in front of you, I really couldn't get the ball a lot. ' He also revealed how rugged the game was when he entered the league: 'It was the end of that 'Bad Boy' era. The Knicks would f*** you up. Detroit will still f*** you up.' He even admitted, 'Rik Smits used to embarrass me… Hakeem [Olajuwon] was the last one to give me work.' Though he eventually surpassed his contemporaries, saying he 'got Robinson out of there, I got Ewing out of there, I got Hakeem out of there,' Shaq acknowledged the mental and physical demands of the era. And yet, his peak came in this very stretch, when he led the Lakers to a historic three-peat from 2000 to 2002. The irony? His dominance grew in the very era he calls the toughest. Shaq didn't mince words when asked which current players could hang in his time: 'LeBron, of course—well, he did play in our era. KD also played in our era. That's about it.' But he made a bold addition, the Timberwolves' young star . 'Ant Edwards, big and strong,' he said, signaling that Edwards' physicality reminds him of a bygone era. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now No conversation with Shaq is complete without revisiting his iconic dunks. He singled out two as his favorites, including the infamous poster over Knicks center Chris Dudley. 'He was all over me, and I was like, 'Get the fu** off me,'' Shaq recalled. He laughed about it years later, even joking with Dudley, 'Are you trying to fight or you trying to give me a hug?'
