Watch the 'AGT' Golden Buzzer Dance Crew 45 Years in the Making

Watch the 'AGT' Golden Buzzer Dance Crew 45 Years in the Making originally appeared on Parade. There's never been a question that America's Got Talent's Terry Crews is Michigan proud. The Flint-born and raised host has previously shown his support for an act from Detroit when he twice named the Detroit Youth Choir his Golden Buzzer, frst for Season 14 and then for America's Got Talent: The Champions. So, it wasn't a big surprise that he continued the tradition by awarding the Detroit-based Funkateers his Golden Buzzer for Season 20. The Funkateers are a four-man dance crew who first performed in 1980 at their high school talent show, which they won. But the last time they all performed together was in 1989 at one of their weddings. 🎬 🎬 Initially, they performed at a lot of theaters, outside summer concerts and the like. But as they got older, they became fathers, so they had to put dancing on hold while they took day jobs in sales, financial services, maintenance and contracting. 'We've always believed that we were before our time,' they told judges Simon Cowell, Mel B, Howie Mandel and Sofia Vergara. 'That's why we came up with this idea. Let's give America's Got Talent a shot.' The judges had no clue what they were going to do. So when they got their groove on to Rick James' 'Give It To Me Baby,' there were smiling faces all around. Instead of returning to the stage, Terry headed down into the audience, while Simon said, 'Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes.' Related: 'I love it when we start the day with an act that is perfect,' Sofia told them. 'You guys are what AGT is all about. You guys are great, you have a beautiful story, and you actually did what you were supposed to do. I loved it.' Then Howie added, 'As good as they were, and they were probably this good in high school, it's better that you did it now at this age. It makes it even better.' Terry was still making his way to the judges' table, and he popped up just as Simon was about to start talking. 'Listen, you are my Golden Buzzer. I got you!' Terry said. 'That was supposed to be mine,' Simon responded. Terry replied, 'These are my people.' 'I was going to do it,' Simon insisted. Related: Mel B, who earlier this season stole a Golden Buzzer from Sofia, told Simon, 'You snooze, you lose.' After the excitement and the confetti calmed down, Simon said, 'People sometimes say, 'What is the perfect audition.' It's something surprising and it just makes you feel amazing. I am not making this up. I was literally about to do that [press the Golden Buzzer] and out of the corner of my eye I saw [Terry] and I hated you and I loved you at the same time.' Terry declared, 'I had to Simon. It was too amazing. It shows that age ain't nothin' but a number.' America's Got Talent airs Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC. Khairy excited to play alongside Man Utd legend

KUALA LUMPUR: Manchester United legends Ryan Giggs and Dimitar Berbatov, and ex-Chelsea captain John Terry will feature in the Zurich Liga 7x7 All Stars festival at KLFA Stadium on July 19. The tournament will feature four teams: Team Wizards, Team Bangsa Bola, Team Harimau and Team Zurich. Former sports minister Khairy Jamaluddin, who is also the manager of Team Wizards, relishes the opportunity to play alongside Giggs, the captain of their side. "My team is well balanced. We've got Kogileswaran Raj, Indra Putra Mahayuddin, Tengku Fahad Mua'adzam Shah, Hairul Azreen, and of course, me," said Khairy, who is a Man Utd fan. "But the X-factor in our team is Giggs. I mean, Terry has never been the same ever since he slipped during the penalty kick (in 2008 Champions League final against Man Utd), so he's going to slip all over again." Khairy quipped Giggs had personally requested to join his team after the latter's recent trip to Malaysia to promote the Man Utd vs Asean All-Stars match last month. "When Giggs was here recently, he asked me if he could be part of my team. I said okay, no problem. We were supposed to have Paul Scholes, but he couldn't come, so we managed to get Giggs instead," he said. Khairy couldn't resist taking a jibe at Team Bangsa Bola who are captained by Terry and managed by banker Tan Sri Nazir Razak. "Well, it's Terry and then, you know, it's Nazir. I mean, a banker doesn't know much about football, right?" he said. "Tan Sri Tony Fernandes' team (Harimau) will be competitive because he's a competitive person, having Safee Sali as the captain. "There's also Team Zurich led by Junior Cho, featuring Berbatov." Meanwhile Safee, whose Team Harimau feature Norshahrul Idlan Talaha, Khyril Muhymeen, K. Gurusamy, and Adam Sinclair, said playing with legends like Terry and Giggs is a proud moment for local football. "To be part of something alongside Terry and Giggs is not ordinary, it's a benchmark for the next generation," he said.

Rock legend rushed to hospital after horror car crash

REO Speedwagon singer Terry Luttrell has been hospitalised after being involved in a car crash. The 78-year-old musician reportedly suffered a number of injuries after being involved in the accident. The accident took place in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois, on Sunday - but Terry has since given an interview to local news. He admitted that he had fallen asleep at the wheel of his car - which was wrecked after he passed out. While the rock band frontman was able to free himself from the wreckage, he was far from uninjured. He revealed he broke one of the bones in his chest and has been suffering from pain elsewhere in his body. He told The News-Gazette: 'It just happened. I nodded off. I rolled the car over, and I woke up and I was in a cocoon (the airbags). Unfortunately, it totaled the car.' Recounting the aftermath of the incident, he explained: "[I was] able to get out of the car,' and went on to reveal he suffered a number of injuries. He said: '[I] cracked my sternum a little bit... I have a little back pain and neck pain. It's nothing that can't be overcome.' The local news report gave details of Terry's weekend - which had included a performance, after party, and mingling with fans. He recounted signing autographs late into Saturday night after taking to the stage and following an after-party. He reportedly didn't leave the party until 2am on Sunday morning, only to meet the fans who were seeking autographs. It was not until 4:30am that he got to sleep. The star was then up early that same morning and travelled to St. Louis for business. He explained that he felt "A little bit sleepy" but assumed he was fit enough to travel. After his accident, he was taken to Carle Foundation Hospital - with the News-Gazette recording that he is still there in order to recover from his injuries. Terry had been performing in a farewell show the night before his accident. Sharing details from the gig, he said: 'Everybody (in the band) was excited. It was just a fun evening. 'It was exactly what we thought it was going to be. It was a one-off concert that will never happen again. To say that you were there was a pretty big thing.' While Terry has been in another band called Starcastle, it is his work with REO Speedwagon that he is famous for. He joined the group in 1968, replacing frontman Mike Blair, with the band releasing hit singles including Can't Fight This Feeling.
