ARCHERY Indian archers bag two individual gold Indian compound archers bagged two individual gold medals at the Asia Cup Leg-2 in Singapore on Friday. Tejal Salve defeated compatriot Shanmukhi Naga Sai Budde 146-144 to claim the women's title, while Kushal Dalal beat Australian Joshua Mahon 149-143 for the men's crown. Sachin Chechi secured the compound men's bronze. Indians lost in five team finals to take silver medals. Recurve Gold: Men: Japan bt India 6-0; Mixed: Indonesia bt India 6-0. -Team Sportstar GOLF Saptak on tied 18 with 1-under 69 on Hotel Planner Tour Saptak Talwar started his week at the Golf Bluegreen de Pleneuf Val Andre with a steady round of 1-under 69 to place himself at tied 18 in the standings at the Blot Play9 in Brittany. Talwar has been playing as many events as possible on the Hotel Planner Tour, the second rung of the DP World Tour, and has had modest results but has made seven cuts in nine previous starts. His best finish has been T-37 in the UAE Challenge. Talwar began his round on the front nine and had two bogeys against one birdie by the turn of the round. On the back nine he picked up the pace and picked up shots on the 11th and 14th holes to close the day at one under. -PTI Ajeetesh plays steady first round, lies 13th in Morocco India's Ajeetesh Sandhu started his week at the Morocco Rising Stars event with a bogey-free round of 4-under 68 and was tied 13th after the first day. The remaining Indians—Rahil Gangjee (74) at T-78, S. Chikkarangappa (75) and Aman Raj (75) and T-93 and Pukhraj Singh Gill (76) at T-106—will need to to pick up the pace if they hope to make cut. -PTI Disappointing start by Aditi Ashok Indian golfer Aditi Ashok endured another rough start at a Major as she began the KPMG Women's PGA Championship at Fields Ranch East with a disappointing 9-over 81 that had no birdies. Almost sure to miss the cut unless she shoots a very low second round, she was lying tied 135th and the projected cut is around 3-over. Aditi had six bogeys and one triple bogey. -PTI Rayhan Thomas shoots 64 to lie seventh Rayhan Thomas equalled his best first round score of the season with a 6-under 64 and was tied seventh at the end of the first day of the Wichita Open. Rayhan, who had a top-10 in his second start of the season in Bahamas in January, has had a rough run since then. In 12 starts since that week in the Bahamas, Rayhan has missed eight cuts and withdrawn once. Last week at the BMW Charity Open, he showed signs of a revival with three of his four rounds in 60s and finished T-42. Rayhan, starting on the tenth, had four birdies in the first six holes. He added two more on his second nine on the second and the third and added a final birdie on the ninth. His sole bogey was on the sixth, his 15th hole of the day. -PTI

World No. 62 Anahat Singh, the only Indian in the women's draw, went down 1-3 (7-11, 11-8, 4-11, 3-11) to World No. 15 Fayrouz Aboelkheir of Egypt in 28 minutes. In the men's field, top-ranked Indian Ramit Tandon fought hard before his defeat to England's Marwan Elshorbagy. The only Indian in the field this week, Ahlawat was coming back after a gap of almost six weeks. He had two birdies, two bogeys and a double bogey in his two-over 73 and was six-over as the cut fell at one-under. Ahlawat's next event is likely to be the Soudal Open, where he is on the waiting list. Shubhankar Sharma will return to action at the Belgium event. - PTI India's Saptak Talwar on tied 11th in Spain India's Saptak Talwar produced a bogey-free second round of five-under 66 to knock on the doors of top 10 at the Challenge de Espana at Fontanals Golf Club on the Hotel Planner Tour here. Talwar, whose first round was two-under 69, is now seven-under 135 and tied-11th. He is four shots behind the leaders Oliver Gillberg (65-66) and Luis Masaveu (64-67) at 11-under. The 26-year-old Talwar, who had his breakthrough win on the Indian Tour last month, was also the runner-up in another event on his home Tour. On the Hotel Planner, the second level Tour to DP World Tour, Talwar has four cuts in five starts and he had also made the cut in the Hero Indian Open. Talwar had two sets of back-to-back birdies on the third and the fourth and again on the eighth and the ninth. A fifth birdie on the tenth brought him to five-under but he then ran out of birdies but did not drop any shots either. - PTI Diksha, Pranavi Tied-32nd in Aramco Korea Championship Indian golfers Diksha Dagar and Pranavi Urs faced contrasting fortunes, but both ended at Tied-32nd after two rounds at the Aramco Korea Championship in Seoul on Saturday. While Diksha rallied from a disappointing front nine of three-over, Pranavi dropped three shots on her second nine, which was the front side of the course. Diksha carded two-over 74 and Pranavi was three-over 75 and both are now three-over 147 for two rounds at the New Korea Country Club. Meanwhile, Avani Prashanth (79-73) despite a good second round failed to make the cut and also missing out was Tvesa Malik (79-76). In the team event, Team Diksha was seventh and Team Pranavi, which included Avani, was T-11. Tvesa Malik, part of Team Pia Babnik, was T-24. Diksha had three bogeys on the front nine, but she recovered well on the back nine with one eight pars and one birdie for a two-over card. Pranavi was even par for the back nine after starting from the 10th, but she gave away three bogeys on her second nine, which was the front side of the course. - PTI

BOXING Seven Indians reach U-17 finals at Asian U-15 & U-17 Boxing Championships Six women were among the seven Indian boxers who booked their place in the U-17 finals as India continued its strong showing at the Asian U-15 & U-17 Boxing Championships in Amman, Jordan. India now has 21 boxers, across the U-15 and U-17 categories, who will fight for the gold medal. The U-17 women boxers delivered a dominant display, and were led by Ahaana Sharma (50 kg), who stormed into the final with a first-round knockout victory over Kyrgyzstan's Akmaral Amantaieva. Khushi Chand (44–46 kg) edged Ukraine's Oleksandra Cherevata 3-2, while Jannat (54 kg), Simranjeet Kaur (60 kg), Harsika (63 kg), and Anshika (80+ kg) also registered commanding wins to confirm their spot in the final bouts. In the men's U-17 section, Devansh (80 kg) put on a composed performance to defeat Vietnam's Nguyen Trong Tien 4-1 and secure his place in the final.
