TCS expands SDV capabilities with new centres in Germany and Romania
India's largest IT services firm, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), today announced the expansion of its capabilities in the rapidly evolving Software-Defined Vehicles (SDV) space. TCS has set up two new automotive delivery centres in Germany — located in Munich and Villingen-Schwenningen — as well as an engineering centre in Romania. These new hubs mark a strategic move to help TCS' global automotive clients accelerate their transition to next-generation mobility solutions. The delivery centres in Germany will support automakers in developing and deploying TCS' software-driven services that cater to autonomous driving, infotainment, safety systems and connected vehicle technologies. Meanwhile, the engineering centre in Romania will focus on designing and building advanced automotive software platforms to support early-stage development and innovation. This expansion is part of TCS' long-term strategy to strengthen its end-to-end automotive software capabilities, chip-to-cloud technologies and services. Regu Ayyaswamy, senior vice-president and global head, Internet of Things (IoT) and Digital Engineering at TCS, said: 'These new centres will position TCS at the forefront of automotive innovation, enabling us to deliver state-of-the-art solutions in autonomous driving and advanced cockpit systems. This expansion reaffirms our commitment to leading the transformation in the Software-Defined Vehicles space.' The strategic location of these centres will enable close collaboration with leading European original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and global automotive enterprises, providing nearshore capabilities. The new centres currently house over 100 professionals who will work alongside more than 2,000 SDV engineers across TCS' global locations. TCS' expansion aligns with the global automotive industry's shift towards software-defined, connected and autonomous mobility. As demand grows for intelligent vehicle technologies, TCS is well-positioned to lead this transformation. Cognizant To Invest Rs 1,583 Crore For New India Campus, Add 8,000 Jobs
BENGALURU: Software services firm Cognizant Technology Solutions will invest Rs 1,583 crore ($182.76 million) to build a new campus in Vishakapatanam that will create about 8,000 jobs, the state government announced on Friday. Commercial operations will begin in March 2029, an Andhra Pradesh government press release said. Cognizant did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The announcement comes just months after India's top IT firm, Tata Consultancy Services, unveiled plans for 13.70 billion rupee campus in the same city, and is expected to generate 12,000 jobs. The move aligns with Cognizant's strategy to optimise real estate costs. In May 2023, Chief Executive Ravi Kumar S said the company would relinquish 11 million square feet of office space globally, mainly in India's largest cities, while investing in tier-2 Indian cities. Globally, IT companies, including those in India's $283 billion sector, are taking cost-cutting measures such as monetising real estate assets and delaying wage increases amid demand uncertainty. Last month, the Teaneck, New Jersey-based company raised its annual revenue forecast and beat first-quarter results driven by increased demand for AI-powered IT services. Cognizant expects 2025 annual revenue between $20.5 billion and $21.0 billion, compared to previous outlook of the midpoint of $20.30 billion to $20.80 billion.

At TCS AGM, AI-led disruption, automation, geopolitics in focus
The world is facing upheavals on multiple fronts—tariffs, wars, and disruption due to artificial intelligence (AI), said Keki Mistry, non-executive and independent director at Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), as he presided over the 30th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the company. Tata Sons chairman N Chandrasekaran could not chair the meeting due to 'certain exigencies.' 'We are presently engulfed by uncertainty at multiple fronts. The global economic connections are being reconfigured on a daily basis from tariffs to supply chains, wars and conflicts across regions, to the disruption posed by artificial intelligence. The world faces upheaval at several levels,' said the veteran business executive and former CEO of HDFC. The board of directors recommended a final dividend of Rs 30 per share for the fourth quarter, which brings the total annual dividend for the year to Rs 126 per share. TCS' shareholder payout was Rs 45,588 crores with a payout ratio of 94%.Looking ahead, TCS plans to focus on four strategic pillars: establishing a large pool of AI agents working alongside the human workforce, delivering solutions to a human plus AI model, and investing in AI data centres as well as partnerships, Mistry pointed out that the geopolitical landscape has reshaped how global businesses operate—reimagining their systems, processes, and technologies. 'Among all the shifts, it is the potential of generative artificial intelligence that stands apart. Unlike previous technological revolutions, which arrived sequentially across the globe, GenAI is emerging everywhere simultaneously… GenAI is not just another tech cycle. It represents a generational shift.'
