Highway graft probe: MACC records Tan Sri's statement for over seven hours
KUALA LUMPUR: A Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) investigation team vehicle was seen leaving the residence of a businessman with the title Tan Sri after recording his statement for more than seven hours, Sinar Harian reports. The Malay language daily reported that MACC recorded the individual's statement to assist in investigations related to the misappropriation of funds from a sukuk for a highway project. A car carrying two investigation officers was seen departing from the location at approximately 4:30pm Thursday (June 19). Earlier, the MACC investigation team arrived at the residence at around 9:10am to record the individual's statement. Observations revealed that the residence area was still under tight security by auxiliary police officers, including the installation of barricade cones to prevent the public from approaching the location. On Monday (June 16), MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki reported that the recording of the individual's statement under investigation would continue Thursday. This is the third time the investigation team has taken statements, following similar actions on June 11 and 12. Previously, the MACC seized domestic assets totaling RM141mil and is currently tracing overseas assets worth RM15mil linked to the misappropriation of funds from the highway construction project's sukuk. The seized assets include individual accounts amounting to RM4.5mil, company accounts totaling RM33mil, luxury condominiums and land valued at RM24.5mil, luxury watches worth RM26mil, nine luxury cars valued at RM7.65mil, and jewellery and diamonds worth RM10mil. Other seized items include luxury handbags valued at RM6mil, gold bars, statues, and coins estimated at RM3mil, and four horses valued at RM400,000.

Public servants barred from statements undermining gov't policies
PUTRAJAYA: Public servants are prohibited from making any public statements, whether orally or in writing, that could undermine government policies, plans, or decisions on any issue. This directive is outlined in a circular titled 'Prohibition on Making Public Statements Under Subregulation 19(1) of the Public Officers (Conduct and Discipline) Regulations 1993 [P.U. (A) 395/1993],' dated June 19, 2025, and signed by Public Service Department (JPA) director-general Tan Sri Wan Ahmad Dahlan Abdul Aziz. According to the circular, public servants must not make any statements that could embarrass or tarnish the government's reputation. They are also barred from criticising any weaknesses in government policies, plans or decisions, or from distributing such statements or comments, whether made by themselves or others. Subregulation 19(2) further states that public servants are also barred from making comments, in any form, that promote or praise any government policy, plan, or decision. Public servants are also not allowed to disclose factual information related to government operations or provide explanations about any events or reports involving the government. 'Such comments, information, or explanations — whether made by the officer or others — must not be disseminated unless prior written approval, either general or specific, has been obtained from the relevant minister,' the circular stated. Department heads have been instructed to advise and ensure that officers under their supervision exercise caution when making statements, comments, or opinions, and strictly avoid spreading false, seditious, defamatory, provocative, or unverified information. Any officer found to be in violation may face disciplinary action, including dismissal, as provided under P.U. (A) 395/1993, the circular warned. The circular, which was uploaded today on the official Facebook page of the Public Service Department , has also been distributed to all state civil service departments, statutory bodies, and local authorities.

Sukuk misuse case: MACC at Tan Sri's house for third round of questioning
KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) investigators are currently at the residence of the Tan Sri linked to a probe into the alleged misappropriation of sukuk funds meant for a highway project in the Klang Valley to record his statement on Thursday (June 19). The area near the residence is guarded by auxiliary police, with cones placed to deter public access. Previously, the MACC investigators recorded the statements of the Tan Sri on June 11 and 12. MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki had said the highway concessionaire is a key witness in the investigation. On June 3, the MACC disclosed it had seized assets worth around RM143mil in the probe, which centres on the alleged misappropriation of sukuk funds for a Klang Valley highway project. Investigators are also tracing luxury vehicles and properties linked to the Tan Sri, including assets in London and Switzerland.
