The actress recently took to social media to share a chilling revelation — she and her family were supposed to be on the same helicopter that tragically crashed in Kedarnath on June 15, claiming the lives of seven people, including a child and the pilot. In an emotional Instagram story, Sheetal reflected on the incident and the twist of fate that saved her life. 'My heart goes out to all the families who lost their loved ones," she wrote. 'What's even more shocking is that me and my family were supposed to be on that same helicopter, on the same day.' The actress went on to explain how everything had been planned for the spiritual trip, but her mother's sudden illness forced them to cancel. 'At the time, I was disappointed… now, I believe it was nothing short of divine intervention. That twist of fate saved our lives," she said, adding, 'Being alive is the biggest blessing.' Known for being strongly opinionated and voicing up for the right, the actress one stood up for herself and stormed off the set after filming an intimate scene with actor Mithun Chakraborty, accusing him of inappropriate behaviour. The controversy occurred on the sets of Chingaari (2006), when Mithun Chakraborty got carried away while filming an intimate scene with Sushmita, leading to palpable friction between the two. Rumours surfaced that Sushmita walked away, crying, after Mithun touched her inappropriately. She also reported the problem to director Kalpana G. Lajmi, who assured her that it was just a misunderstanding. Sources later claimed that Sushmita reconsidered the situation, and felt that things just blew out of proportion. She, then resolved the matter privately with Mithun. However, none of them have ever addressed the matter publicly or confirmed this incident. Another controversy that surrounded around the film Chingaari involved Sushmita and newcomer Anuj Sawhney, who played a postman in love with Sushmita's character, a sex worker. During the promotional phase, Anuj reportedly boasted about her kissing sequence with her, claiming that it took 36 retakes. The remarks enraged Sushmita and she refused to promote the film at all. Director Kalpana revealed losing out two months of publicity due to the ongoing rift. Sushmita Sen and Anuj Sawhney Anuj eventually apologised Sushmita for his behaviour, which director acknowledged his mistake publicly. While she felt why Sushmita felt bad about Anuj remarks, she admitted feeling disappointed as the director and how the whole film was being publicised. In an interview with Hindustan Times, Kalpana shared, 'I don't think that a film like Chingari should be publicised in such a manner. I felt extremely hurt when Anuj gave importance to the kiss sequence rather than the whole message behind the film.' Controversises aside, when Sushmita was asked about her experience of portraying Basanti in Chingaari, she said it was emotionally taxing. In a conversation with Hindustan Times, the actress said that playing a sex worker took a toll on her psyche, leaving her feeling uneasy and emotionally drained.
