President Trump announces his first foreign visit in May

Published March 31st, 2025 - 10:12 GMT ISTANBUL US President Donald Trump is planning to travel to Saudi Arabia in May on his first foreign trip since returning to the White House, the Axios news website reported Sunday. Planning for the trip is ongoing as the Trump administration works to resume a ceasefire in Gaza between Israel and the Palestinian group Hamas and to get Hamas to release more hostages, it said. Trump had told reporters on March 6 that he would likely visit Saudi Arabia "over the next month and a half." "I am going to Saudi Arabia. Normally, you would go to the UK first. Last time I went to Saudi Arabia. They put up $450 billion," he said. "This time, I said I will go if you put up a trillion dollars to American companies. Meaning the purchase over four years of a trillion dollars. They agreed to do that. So I am gonna be going there," he added. The current plan is for Trump to travel to Saudi Arabia in mid-May, said a US official and a source familiar with the matter. Via Copyright Andolu Ajansi

Jordan announces 24-hour operation at Jaber Border Crossing

Published March 17th, 2025 - 10:42 GMT Amman, March 17 (Petra) – Authorities will begin round-the-clock operations at the Jaber border crossing with Syria starting Sunday, March 23, the Interior Ministry announced Monday. The decision, implemented after coordination with Syrian authorities, brings the crossing's operating hours in line with the Al-Omari border post on the Saudi frontier and comes just ahead of the anticipated surge in travel during Eid al-Fitr. Officials have finalized comprehensive security and logistical arrangements to ensure efficient processing at the crossing, which has been handling increased volumes of commercial shipments and passenger traffic in recent months. The expanded hours aim to reduce congestion, minimize wait times for travelers, and strengthen commercial exchange between the neighboring countries. //Petra// WH 17/03/2025 12:57:11 Via 2022 Petra News Agency, All Rights Reserved

Hakan Fidan hold talks Ukrainian officials at Munich Security Conference

Published February 16th, 2025 - 11:22 GMT ISTANBUL Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan met with top Ukrainian officials in Germany during this weekend's Munich Security Conference, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said Sunday. Fidan held talks with Andriy Yermak, the head of Ukraine's Presidential Office, and Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, according to the ministry. Details of the discussions were not immediately disclosed. Following separate phone calls last week between US President Donald Trump and his Russian and Ukrainian counterparts, speculation is running high over a possible push for a peace deal between the two neighboring countries. Russia launched its war on Ukraine on Feb. 24, 2022, just short of three years ago. Today is the concluding day of the three-day Munich conference, which is held annually.
