Russia launches over 50 strikes on Sumy Oblast, injuring two women
Russian forces attacked Sumy Oblast over 50 times on 12 June. Twenty-five settlements have come under attack, two women aged 88 and 57 have been injured and infrastructure facilities and residential buildings have been damaged. Source: Sumy Oblast Military Administration Details: Russian forces struck 25 settlements in 11 hromadas in Sumy Oblast from the morning of 12 June to the morning of 13 June. The most intense attacks were recorded in the Sumy and Shostka districts. [A hromada is an administrative unit designating a village, several villages, or a town, and their adjacent territories – ed.] The Russians fired over 50 munitions and drones: 35 strikes were conducted with multiple-launch rocket systems, over 10 with guided aerial bombs and 20 VOG high-explosive fragmentation grenade drops from UAVs. The Russians also used FPV drones. Two women aged 88 and 57 have been injured in a drone attack on civilian infrastructure in the Mykolaivka hromada. Both suffered shrapnel wounds. Nearly 900 people, including 137 children, evacuated from Sumy Oblast since beginning of June
Since the beginning of June, nearly 900 people, including 137 children, have been evacuated from Sumy Oblast. The evacuation continues in 213 settlements in border hromadas. Over the past day, 21 people have been evacuated to safer areas." Details: Hryhorov said that 213 settlements in 18 border hromadas are subject to planned evacuation. "The evacuation is being carried out in close coordination with hromadas, the State Emergency Service, the police, volunteers and international partners. Humanitarian hubs and transit centres are working to provide emergency assistance to those who have left dangerous areas," he explained. Hryhorov also noted that defence capabilities are being strengthened in the oblast: anti-drone coverage and mobile fire groups are being deployed, and businesses and the public are joining in to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Russian drones destroy bioethanol plant in Sumy Oblast overnight
Russia attacked infrastructure in the Lebedyn hromada in Sumy Oblast overnight on 4 June, striking a bioethanol production facility. Fortunately, there were no casualties," the administration stated. In addition to the plant buildings, about ten houses were damaged. Environmental professionals are assessing the consequences of the molasses spill. The full extent of the destruction is being confirmed. Quote: "The most intense fighting is near the Yunakivka and Khotin hromadas, where the enemy is trying to operate in small groups and gain a foothold. The civilian population from these areas has been evacuated a long time ago. Our units are holding the lines, thwarting all attempts by the Russians to advance." Details: Sumy Oblast Military Administration added that Russian forces are constantly firing on border villages, targeting houses, farms and civilian infrastructure even in hromadas in the rear. Death toll in Sumy rises to four after Russian strike
A 43-year-old man has died in hospital from injuries sustained in a Russian multiple-launch rocket system (MLRS) attack on the city of Sumy, becoming the fourth fatality.
