1st consignment of Sukhoi-30 brake parachutes leaves for Malaysia from unit in UP's Hazratpur
Kumawat said the Hazratpur unit, near Tundla town of Uttar Pradesh's Firozabad district, is working to constantly develop modern products through research and innovation keeping in mind the needs of the defence sector. Singh said the consignment includes 10 pairs of brake parachutes which have been especially designed for Sukhoi-30 fighter aircraft. He said this achievement is not just a business deal, but a proof of India's technical proficiency and self-reliance. Firozabad: The first consignment of Sukhoi-30 fighter jet brake parachutes manufactured at the Ordnance Equipment Factory Hazratpur (OEFH) here has been dispatched to Malaysia. In a simple ceremony Tuesday, OEFH general manager Amit Singh flagged off a truck loaded with the parachute brake systems for Malaysia. Deputy general manager H.L. Kumawat, joint general manager S.K. Meena and other officers were also present. He said work is also being done at the factory on drone technology and indigenous drones are being prepared for various usages. These drones have proved to be effective not only in surveillance and tactical operations but also in civilian tasks, he said. Meena said the arrester barrier system (which helps in stopping high-speed aircraft on the runway) and multi-spectral camouflage net (MSCN) being manufactured here are also inviting interest in the international market. He said many countries have ordered samples for testing at the initial stage, and export orders for these products are expected. This will bolster India's defence export and the strength of 'Make in India' will be known in the global defence market, he said. Meena said exports from here will create new opportunities for employment, technical training, and industrial development for the local youth. The start of defence sector exports from a small town like Hazratpur is proof India's prowess is no longer limited to metros but it can also lead on the global stage from villages and towns, he said. This initiative realises Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of 'Local for Global' where local products are gaining recognition worldwide, he added. Firozabad's OEF sends first batch of Su-30 brake parachutes to Malaysian Air Force
Agra: Firozabad's Ordnance Equipment Factory (OEF) on Tuesday dispatched its first batch of brake parachutes for the Malaysian Air Force's Sukhoi-30 aircraft. Deputy general manager of the Hazratpur unit, HL Kumawat said 10 sets were sent to Malaysia following an export order placed through a local channel partner. OEF has been tasked with manufacturing 10 sets for the Royal Malaysian Air Force while continuing production for Indian Su-30MKIs, the backbone of the Indian Air Force . In Feb 2025, the DRDO transferred the brake parachute technology to OEF Hazratpur. Originally developed by DRDO's ADRDE lab in Agra (2000–2002), the system enables OEF to manufacture aerial delivery systems and brake parachutes domestically. The brake parachute is a critical safety system that slows the Su-30 during landing, preventing runway overruns. Deployed at speeds between 180–300 km/h, it uses an auxiliary parachute to extract the main chute, which then inflates to create drag. Made from Nylon 66 and covering 50 sqm, the system also assists in aborted take-offs by reducing the aircraft's landing run.

IAF Announces Major Military Exercise Near India-Pak Border, NOTAM Issued
New Delhi: India has issued a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) for a major Indian Air Force (IAF) exercise scheduled to take place near the southern sector of the India-Pakistan International Border in Rajasthan from Saturday, June 7, to Sunday, June 8. The exercise is part of the IAF's regular operational preparedness and will be conducted in airspace near the border. According to the NOTAM, the aerial drill will commence at 3:30 p.m. on June 7 and conclude at 9:30 p.m. the following day. During this period, airspace over the designated region will be restricted to ensure the safe and seamless execution of air operations. An official from the Indian Air Force confirmed that the combat exercises will feature a range of advanced air assets, including frontline fighter jets such as Rafale, Mirage 2000, and Sukhoi-30, in addition to surveillance platforms and other support systems. Although the Ministry of Defence has not officially connected the exercise to ongoing geopolitical tensions, the timing and location of the drill carry notable implications. This sector has become a focal point amid rising tensions following a deadly cross-border terror attack in Pahalgam. That incident triggered reciprocal airspace restrictions by both India and Pakistan, significantly straining bilateral relations. India recently closed its airspace to all Pakistani-registered and military aircraft from April 30 to May 23. This action followed Pakistan's earlier decision to bar Indian flights from its airspace, marking an escalation in diplomatic and military frictions. The situation remains tense along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir, where frequent ceasefire violations by Pakistani troops have prompted firm retaliatory responses from Indian forces. This comes against the backdrop of India's 'Operation Sindoor', which was launched on May 7, in retaliation to the terror attack in Pahalgam, where terrorists killed 26 innocent people.
