Midnight ruckus in Chandigarh's Dadumajra: Six booked for brazen stone pelting, threats to public, flaunting weapons
Chandigarh Police have booked at least six youths for blocking roads, pelting stones, threatening bystanders and displaying weapons, including rods and a pistol, late-night in Dadumajra Colony on Tuesday. Based on the CCTV footage, the accused have been identified as Subhash, Ankit, Nikki, Sahil, Haseen, Batti, besides other unnamed individuals. No arrests have been made so far. According to police, the brazen incident unfolded around 11.35 pm when constables Ashish and Vijay, posted at the Maloya police station, were patrolling the area. As they approached the Small Flats area in Dadumajra Colony, they spotted 5-6 youths creating a public obstruction by audaciously parking their motorcycles on the road and hurling stones at passersby. 'Upon seeing the police, the boys started shouting. They issued threats and then fled the spot on their motorcycles. One of the stones hit a woman, Rani Devi, on the forehead,' stated constable Ashish in his written complaint. Devi immediately received medical treatment with the help of her family. The constables then resumed patrolling when around 12.10 am they encountered the same group again near Sheetla Mata Mandir in Sector 38-West. 'The group was again seen on motorcycles, creating a ruckus. As we tried to stop them, one of the motorcycles slipped. In the chaos, I overheard names being shouted—Subhash, Sahil, Ankit and Nikki. They were waving sticks, rods and pistol-like weapons before fleeing again,' constable Ashish added. Devi, after receiving treatment, gave a written statement, confirming that she was hit on the forehead by a stone thrown by one of the boys while returning from work. No signs of gunfire were reported at the scene. However, based on the statements, a case under Sections 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 126(2) (wrongful restraint), 351(2) (criminal intimidation), 191(2) (rioting), and 190 (every member of unlawful assembly guilty of offence committed in prosecution of common object) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 25, 27, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act was registered. ED raids 24 Raj & Guj locations in 2,700 crore Nexa Evergreen scam
Jaipur/Jhunjhunu: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted massive raids across Rajasthan and Gujarat on Thursday in connection with an alleged Rs 2,700 crore money laundering scheme linked to the Nexa Evergreen project. The operation, spanning 24 locations, targeted what authorities describe as a massive real estate fraud that affected approximately 62,000 investors. Till the evening ED has seized almost Rs 2 crores and 3 lakhs and have freezed around 10 bank accounts. The raids, supported by CRPF and local police, were carried out in multiple cities including Sikar, Jaipur, Jodhpur and Jhunjhunu in Rajasthan and Ahmedabad in Gujarat. The ED's investigation stems from multiple FIRs filed with the Rajasthan Police regarding the fraudulent scheme. According to ED officials, the company, registered in Ahmedabad in April 2021, allegedly lured investors with promises of affordable housing and land plots in Gujarat's Dholera Smart City Project. The primary accused, Subhash and Ranveer Bijarniya from Panlawa in Sikar district, specifically targeted govt employees, including police and armed forces personnel, promising high returns on investments. "While some initial investors received property possession, the scheme was later exposed as fraudulent, leaving most investors without recourse," said a senior ED officer in Jaipur. The agency has seized incriminating documents, bank account details, electronic devices and property papers during the raids. "So far we have seized Rs 2 crores and 3 lakhs and have also freezed around 10 bank accounts," said an officer. The scam, which affected around 62,000 people, has already led to hundreds of FIRs across different districts and multiple protests by victims. Both main accused, Ranveer and Subhash Bijarnia, were previously arrested in connection with the case. The ED's investigation continues, with officials stating this is their first major operation since registering the case in early 2024. The agency also raided the premises of Salim Khan, another accused who operated a Nexa Evergreen office in Jhunjhunu's KK Colony, allegedly to attract more investors to the scheme. While the ED has confirmed seizing significant evidence, specific details of the recoveries are yet to be disclosed as the investigation remains ongoing. High-speed crash: Tractor crushes two men on way to job interview in Noida; both die on spot
NOIDA: They set out hoping it would be a day of new beginnings. But two friends who were on their way to a job interview died in an accident in Sector 63 on Monday after a tractor rammed their bike from behind. Police have taken the tractor driver into custody and impounded the vehicle. Krishna Kumar (25) and Subhash (27) had met up around 9 am and were going to the factory in Sector 65 together. Around 10 minutes later, a sand-laden tractor headed to Gadhi roundabout hit them barely 100 metres from the Chhijarsi roundabout. The two men and their bike got stuck in front of the tractor and were dragged for several metres before being run over and crushed under its wheels, police said. After passersby alerted cops, a unit from Sector 63 station rushed the two to a nearby hospital but they were declared dead by doctors on arrival. Following the accident, a crowd gathered on the Chhijarsi main road, leading to a traffic jam. Officials reached the spot and dispersed the crowd, after which traffic flow gradually resumed. Eyewitnesses told cops the tractor was approaching at a high speed and the driver seemed to have lost control of the vehicle before ploughing into the bike. It was not immediately known who was riding the bike and who was seated as the pillion. Subhash's brother-in-law told cops that the youth had come to Ghaziabad's Bahrampur with his wife from Bihar's Vaishali some years ago and was looking for a job. He recently heard about a vacancy in a Sector 65 factory and was keen about the job. Krishna Kumar, who was originally from Hathras, tied the knot last Dec. He lived in Noida's Sector 63. A complaint has been submitted by his uncle in the case. DCP (Central Noida) Shakti Mohan Avasthy said a case was registered under BNS sections 106 (causing death by negligence) and 281 (rash or negligent driving on a public way). Cops are checking footage of CCTV cameras installed around the spot to ascertain the chain of events. The city recorded 1,165 accidents last year in which 462 people died and 966 people were injured. Speeding and wrong-side driving were among the top reasons behind road crash fatalities. On April 20, a 25-year-old food delivery agent was killed when a speeding motorcycle rammed his bike near Sector 72. On April 7, a 25-year-old ice cream vendor died after a speeding Santro hit his cart near Ryan roundabout in Greater Noida. During investigation, police found the driver rammed into several other carts nearby, but no one else was injured.
