Dil Thaam Ke: Huma Qureshi song in Maalik leaves internet wondering why every dance number looks like Aaj Ki Raat

The new track from Rajkummar Rao-starrer Maalik, titled Dil Thaam Ke, was released on Friday. Picturised on Huma Qureshi, the peppy track sees the actor dancing up a storm in a shed with several other female dancers. Rajkummar also appears, but barely shakes a leg with her. Fans reacted to the song and gave a thumbs up for Huma, even as comparisons with Stree 2 song Aaj Ki Raat also cropped up. (Also read: Maalik teaser: Rajkummar Rao is finally not a small-town boy looking for a bride, turns ruthless gangster. Watch) In the song, Huma is seen showing off her moves in a shed with multiple other female dancers. Rajkummar, who plays a gangster, enters the shed with his men, which catches the attention of Huma. Even as she tried to tag him along to dance and loosen up a bit, he refused. Reacting to the song, a fan said, 'Huma can act and even dance so well. So good to see her.' A second fan noted, 'Huma Qureshi is such an underrated performer. What a look & those moves.' However, many users also noted the similar trend of dance numbers after the huge success of Tamannaah Bhatia's Aaj Ki Raat track from Stree 2. A user commented, 'The music, the dance steps and the whole vibe of the song are quite similar to Aj ki Raat maza husan ka song from Stree 2.' Another said, 'Why do I feel Raees vibes?' This was made in reference to the styling of Rajkummar's character, which looked quite similar to Shah Rukh Khan's style in the film Raees. 'Why is this song similar to Laila Mai Laila and even Aaj Ki Raat? Can't help,' noted another user in the comments. Produced by Kumar Taurani and Jay Shewakraman, Maalik is set to be a gritty tale of power, loyalty, betrayal, and one man's rise to rule it all. Pulkit, who is known for TV series like Bhakshak and Bose Dead/Alive, has directed the film, which will be released on July 11.

Bollywood turns cold on new directors: Fewer debut filmmakers in theatres

Hindi film producers have grown increasingly risk-averse over the past three-and-a-half years, betting on familiar names and proven formulae while pulling back on support for debut filmmakers , amid a wave of box-office flops even by seasoned directors. The number of debut filmmakers breaking into Hindi cinema fell to 32 in 2024 from 39 in 2022, according to the data shared by veteran trade analysts. So far in 2025, only 15 first-time Hindi filmmakers have had theatrical releases. This decline has come despite an increase in the total number of Hindi film releases to 221 in 2024 from 194 in 2022. The share of debut directors dropped to 14.5% from 20.1% during this period. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Mi Piace Così | Quanto costa perdere peso? Mi Piace Così Undo "Today, producers want to minimise the margin of error," said Ameya Naik, producer and founder of the event management company Fantasy Films. "Gone are the days when a filmmaker could afford to make his or her 'best' film after a few films. Today, a filmmaker's debut film must be his or her 'best' film, as audiences have become more unforgiving than ever," he said. Post-pandemic, producers across geographies have been facing the fundamental challenge of increasing unpredictability in box-office outcomes, with the success ratio of films falling to about 3.2% in 2024. Gross box office collection declined to ₹11,833 crore in 2024 from ₹12,226 crore in 2023, according to Ormax Media, a media and entertainment research firm. Live Events Amid this unpredictability and rising talent costs, Hindi film producers have become averse to backing new stories and directors, industry insiders said. Producers are more interested in exploiting intellectual properties (IPs) of already successful films even as conglomerates, private equity players and asset management companies have acquired high or controlling stakes in entertainment companies across the world. "They are driven more by numbers than creativity. So, they invest in successful IPs by making sequels or remaking them, as they believe familiarity with IPs brings audiences to theatres," said a producer requesting anonymity. This strategy seems to be working. The top three Hindi grossers of 2024 were all franchises and sequels: Stree 2, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, and Singham Again. In this context, a Bain & Company Global M&A 2025 report noted that owning quality IPs has been a key factor behind recent mergers and acquisitions in the global media and entertainment industry. In this scenario, producers say it is easier for debut filmmakers in Hindi to find opportunities on streaming platforms than making theatrical debut. "I think for debut filmmakers, the challenges involved in making a theatrical film are higher than those involved in making films for streaming platforms," said Naveen Chandra, founder and CEO of 91 Film Studios, a studio for regional films. This is in stark contrast to what is transpiring in regional cinema where several debut directors are making noteworthy content-driven films.

This upcoming movie boasts of the ‘biggest' horror set in India at over 40,000 sq ft and features top star as lead

Of late, the Indian film industry has seen a resurgence of horror films that are working wonders at the box office. Take films like Stree 2, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, or Aranmanai 4. It's easy to hit-and-miss in the genre, but filmmakers are willing to take that chance. One of the upcoming horror films in Telugu boasts not just a top star headlining it but also a sprawling haveli set that the film's team claims is 'India's biggest'. (Also Read: Prabhas' The Raja Saab teaser leaked online, makers warn 'serious action' against sharing it) The Raja Saab is a film directed by Maruthi and starring Prabhas in the lead role. In a press note, the film's team claimed that at the centre of the horror comedy film will be a haveli that's 'unlike anything Indian cinema has seen before'. The set, designed by art director Rajeevan Nambiar, is a massive 41,256 sq ft. According to the makers, the haveli isn't just a backdrop but an 'immersive, living, breathing space' that's a huge part of the story. Towering doors and shadowy corridors can be expected. 'Every detail had to serve the emotion, not just the aesthetics. We didn't want the set to look haunted—we wanted it to feel haunted,' shares Rajeevan in a statement, adding, 'The intention was to build something that starts pulling you in the moment you enter—whether you're a viewer or someone walking through it.' The film's team also noted in the statement: 'Every stone, prop, and shade within the Haveli has been custom-built to elevate the horror. Even the floor has been designed to add an eerie texture to the visuals. This isn't just set design—it's storytelling through space.' The Raja Saab is a horror comedy film starring Prabhas, Nidhhi Agerwal, Malavika Mohanan (in her Telugu debut), and Riddhi Kumar. Its teaser will be released on 16 June. Viswa Prasad produced it under People Media Factory. The film will be released in theatres on 5 December in all South Indian languages and Hindi. Thaman S is the music composer.

The approximately 4-year-old munchkin is quite the hairstylist as she styled her dad's hair into a quirky avatar. Aparshakti's Instagram post was accompanied by a heartwarming caption that read, "My daughter #Arzoie wanted to do an activity on vacation! I think she can be a good hair stylist right? Back shot aur bhi cute hai Pre-Fathers Day Post," along with cheeky, hearts and angel emojis.
