Everything We Know About Ruth Jones' Ex-Husband, David Peet

They were once thought of as one of the strongest marriages in showbiz, but it wasn't to be for Ruth Jones and David Peet. The Gavin & Stacey star revealed that the couple's 26-year marriage is over and that the TV producer has moved on with a lookalike of his famous ex-wife. 'We amicably went our separate ways 18 months ago and are now legally separated. We remain good friends,' they said in a joint statement. 'Since our separation, Ruth is living in London and David is living in Canada, where he is in a new relationship.' Here's what we know about David… Ruth Jones and David Peet ©IMDB David Peet is a TV producer and Ruth Jones' ex-husband. Ruth and David don't have any children together. However, David has three adult children from an earlier marriage – Louise, Alex and Fiona. Ruth is a proud stepmum to David's children. 'It just didn't happen. It wasn't a decision. I don't have a burning desire to have babies. I think it's heartbreaking if you do and you find out you can't have them. I love being a stepmum – all the joy of motherhood without the pain of childbirth,' she said. Ruth and David met while they were both filming the pilot episode of a BBC comedy in the early 1990s. The pair chatted on the phone before they met in person, where he immediately won her over. 'It was love at first voice because I spoke to him on the phone before I met him,' she recalled. 'He has a very sharp mind combined with a dry Yorkshire wit, making him a naturally funny man.' They started a romance while he was still married. 'Affairs cause a lot of pain; they're not something one aspires to do. You don't aspire to cause pain to people in their life,' she said. David Peet and Jayne Charity Cook ©Facebook David is now living in Canada and dating Jayne Charity Cook, who looks very much like Ruth. He attacked his partner then strangled her daughter as she lay helpless on the floor Mark Moon, 46, was charged with actual bodily harm, strangulation and assault by beating Mark Moon, 46, from Porth (Image: South Wales Police ) A 46-year-old man has been jailed after he attacked his partner and then assaulted and strangled her daughter in front of her as she tried to help her mum. Judge Simon Mills told Mark Moon that if he was violent again, he would be going to prison for a "very, very long time". Alice Sykes, prosecuting, told Cardiff Crown Court that on February 15, 2025, Moon had consumed some Stella beer and a whole bottle of spirit. He kicked his partner in the ribs which winded her and caused a wound to her face which meant she couldn't see. ‌ The court heard that her head hit a nearby plug socket so hard that it broke and when her daughter then tried to help he pinned her up against the wall. ‌ When she said she was going to ring the police he put his arm around her neck, restricting her breathing, and said: "It's your f***ing fault, you should not have provoked me." In a victim impact statement read to the court by Ms Sykes, his former partner said the incident happened six days before her father's funeral. "We laid him to rest with the physical and emotional scars Mark inflicted on us," she reflected. She added that as a result of the incident she even considered not going to the funeral, saying the incident had left a "lasting and significant impact" on her and her daughter's lives. Article continues below The court heard that Moon had 36 previous convictions, including for violence, battery and actual bodily harm (ABH). Don't miss a court report by signing up to our crime newsletter here . Edward Mitchard, representing Moon, told the court his client had a difficult upbringing and was exposed to violence as a young person. Mr Mitchard added: "When times get tough he resorts to excessive drinking and lashes out at those closest to him." Moon, of Cemetery Road in Porth, pleaded guilty to charges of ABH, strangulation and assault by beating. ‌ During sentencing, Judge Simon Mills said: "The way that you treated those two women at that point close to you was terrifying. Against a background where you have repeatedly inflicted serious violence against other people, what you did was totally unacceptable. "You then lost your temper and subjected the victim to appalling misogynistic abuse when you knocked her to the ground. In my view she was particularly vulnerable because of her personal circumstances. "You started punching her daughter and then strangled her. The amount of times I have seen in my career where strangulation by a man like you has resulted in death, I have seen it too many times and I really worry that you are going to lose control of yourself again in the future because you do not seem to be able to stop yourself." Article continues below The judge warned that the punishment would be much harsher if he was to commit a similar crime again. He said: "If you are violent again, particularly with a woman you are in a relationship with, you will be going to prison for a very, very long time. It's got to stop." Judge Mills sentenced Moon to three years in prison and put a restraining order in place to protect both victims for ten years.

‘Love Shack' For Endangered NZ Falcons – NZ Raptor Trust Secures Rare Breeding Permit

NZ Raptor Trust Chair, Jenni Fraser sums it up nicely We have the permit, we have the birds (well nearly Stella and Jet are still in Blenheim), all we need now is a completed facility. 18th June 2025 DOC has issued to the New Zealand Raptor Trust a Permanent Captive Holding for Species Management permit to enable them to develop a Falcon captive breeding programme, only the third ever in Aotearoa. The Kārearea is New Zealand's only falcon and our most endangered bird of prey. The NZ Raptor Trust, based in Timaru, has been working with DOC over the past two years to secure this exclusive privilege – establishing a captive breeding programme for Kārearea, our native Falcon. The programme gained momentum with the arrival of an ideal female falcon, Stella. Found injured in South Canterbury, Stella was assessed by the NZ Raptor Trust and spent weeks in intensive care. While she's made a remarkable recovery, ongoing issues – including a droopy wing affecting her ability to fly and a slight head tilt from the trauma – means she can't be released back into the wild. She is now living at the Kārearea Falcon Trust in Blenheim, where she has partnered up with Jet. With any luck, the upcoming breeding season (October to March) will bring the pitter-patter of tiny talons. Focus has now turned to creating a facility and home for Stella and Jet to continue their significant and valuable contribution to the NZ Kārearea population. NZ Raptor Trust Chair, Jenni Fraser sums it up nicely 'We have the permit, we have the birds (well nearly Stella and Jet are still in Blenheim), all we need now is a completed facility.' Containers are already on site; these will provide the main frame and structure of the breeding facility, the next stage is to convert these into the perfect home and breeding 'love shack'. The trust is now looking for sponsorship and funding for this exciting next step in their work with birds of prey from individuals, groups, clubs, whanau and businesses. You can do via the give a little page the QR code or the donations page at Captive breeding programmes see birds that are not suitable for release, such as Stella and are successfully paired and breed chicks improving the NZ Falcon population and working to bring them back from the brink of extinction. The NZ Raptor Trust was established in 2016 and provides and cares for sick, injured and orphaned raptors until they are fit for release back to their natural habitat. We aim to educate and inspire current and future generations, raising awareness and boosting populations of our vulnerable birds of prey. Alongside this crucial rehabilitation work for owls, hawks and falcons the Trust has a cohort of long-term residents of hawks and owls that are trained for interaction with people and you can book an experience session. Joining the two existing Captive Breeding programmes based at Kārearea Falcon Trust in Blenheim and Wingspan in Rotorua. There is a great collaborative spirit across the three organisations. The New Zealand Raptor Trust is based in Timaru, South Canterbury and for the past eight years the trust has been licensed to hold all New Zealand Raptors for treatment, rehabilitation and release. This next stage is an important step forward in their journey.

Ruth Jones Speaks Out To Confirm Split From Husband David Peet After 25 Years

Ruth Jones has confirmed that she and her husband of more than 25 years, David Peet, have parted ways. In a joint statement released on Wednesday, the Gavin & Stacey star and TV, film and radio producer announced that they 'amicably went [their] separate ways 18 months ago and are now legally separated'. The pair insisted that they are still 'good friends' in the wake of their split, adding: 'Since our separation, Ruth is living in London and David is living in Canada, where he is in a new relationship.' Ruth and David tied the knot in 1999, after which the Bafta winner became a stepmum to her now-ex's two children from a previous relationship. Over the course of their marriage, the two collaborated on a number of projects, most notably Gavin & Stacey and Stella, another British sitcom written by Ruth in which she also played the title role. Last year, Ruth reprised the role of Nessa Jenkins in the much-hyped Gavin & Stacey finale, which aired on Christmas Day. Ruth's character took centre stage in the episode, which earned her the Best Female Comedy Performance award at the TV Baftas last month. More than a decade earlier, she had been nominated in the same category for her work on Stella. Earlier this week, it was announced that work was underway on Ruth's next project, a period drama set in the same universe as Jane Austen's Pride & Prejudice, called The Other Bennet Sister. The 10-part BBC series recently began shooting in Wales, with Ruth and Richard E Grant set to portray Mr And Mrs Bennet, alongside a cast that includes Call The Midwife and Bridgerton star Ella Bruccoleri in the main role as Mary Bennet. Doctor Who's Varada Sethu has also joined the show as a new character, Ann Baxter, first introduced in Janice Hadlow's novel of the same name. Hold on to your bonnets! Ruth Jones, Richard E.
