Gyokeres to Arsenal takes new twist and Man City chief could play decisive role
Viktor Gyokeres is doing all he can to push through a move to Arsenal despite interest from Premier League rivals Manchester United but it appears that Manchester City could also have a big say A leaked voice note from Manchester City chief Hugo Viana could finally push through Viktor Gyokeres ' 'dream' move to Arsenal. The Sporting Lisbon star is right at the top of the Gunners' transfer shopping list. Mikel Arteta 's side have already lodged a bid worth €55m (£47m) plus a potential further €10m (£8.5m) but that was rejected by Sporting. And since then, there has practically been silence from North London, with Arsenal's pursuit being put on ice amid interest in alternative forward Benjamin Sesko. The same cannot be said of Gyokeres' camp and Sporting Lisbon, however. The striker reportedly threatened to go on strike to force through an exit after believing that Sporting had changed the terms of his departure, while he also turned down clear-the-air talks with his current employers. But it now appears that Gyokers' agent would be willing to leak private talks with ex-Sporting and current Man City chief Hugo Viana to facilitate an exit. According to Portuguese outlet Record, Gyokores' agent Hasan Çetinkaya has evidence that backs up his side of the story. He reportedly has a voice note from Viana agreeing to sell the striker for €60m plus €10m in add-ons (£51m plus £8.5m), following a meeting that was held on September 19 last year. Sporting president Federico Varandas has already given his take on the talks between Viana, Gyokeres and Cetinkaya. Speaking earlier this month, he said: "The agent spoke to us to add some clauses. Hugo Viana, as he always did, and very well, managed the relationship with the agents. This relational space is established with the sports director. "One of the agent's biggest concerns was whether we would demand the termination clause. Hugo Viana negotiated with the agents over several meetings until the agent demanded the presence of the president. "At this meeting, which included the president, the agent and Viana, Gyokeres was not present. He wanted to guarantee certain things. And what was agreed? That Sporting would not demand a release clause now. For one reason: he was going to be 27 years old and no player leaves Portugal at 27 for 100 or 90 million euros. Where do you think Gyokeres will go? Share your thoughts in the comments below "In that same meeting, the agent wanted to anchor the exit to a value. I said this sentence: 'It's not worth us setting a value because I don't know what will happen in a year's time. I don't know if it will be 40, 60 or 80. What I can guarantee is that I will not demand 100 million euros. From then on, I never spoke to the agent again, I never spoke to the player about departures or values. "Now I see the agent in the press releasing information. I want to make one thing clear: Sporting has common sense and keeps its word. Gyokeres scored 63 goals and 10 assists. Fantastic performance. Certainly one of the best players to have ever stepped onto Portuguese turf. And Sporting will not demand the clause. "Now blackmail and insults, Sporting will not accept. One thing is certain: Sporting will not accept 60 million plus 10. As of today, Sporting has not received any proposal for Gyokeres." Record's report further details that Gyokeres is willing to wait for what is his 'dream' move to Arsenal. He currently remains on holiday as the transfer saga continues. Viktor Gyokeres is 'willing to wait for Arsenal dream' - with star's agent insistent there IS agreement with Sporting Lisbon for £60m move this summer
Viktor Gyokeres is reportedly ready to exercise patience as he holds out for a move to Arsenal this summer. The Sporting Lisbon star is one of the most in-demand strikers on the market this summer after his goalscoring exploits over the past two seasons. The Swede has netted 97 goals in 102 appearances for the Portuguese outfit since signing from Conventry two years ago. It is no secret that a new striker is the top priority for the Gunners this summer after three consecutive second placed finishes in the Premier League. United are also on the hunt for a new forward with Rasmus Hojlund having struggled since his big money move to Old Trafford. Gyokeres may know United manager Ruben Amorim well from his time at Sporting but the player has his heart set on a move to Arsenal, according to Portuguese outlet Record. Their report states that 'patience is the word' for the 27-year-old, who is willing to wait until the end to see his dream of playing for Arsenal become reality.' His price-tag has become a major stumbling block for any deal with Sporting trying to hold out for a significantly higher fee than was originally agreed with the player's camp. It is understood that Gyokeres believes he reached a gentleman's agreement with Sporting last summer that would see the club accept a fee in the region of €70m (£60m) including add-ons at the end of the season. Gyokeres has a €100m (£84m) release clause in his contract, and club president Frederico Varandas has accused Gyokeres' team of trying to 'blackmail' the Portuguese giants. The Record report added: 'The Nordic player's agent, Hasan Çetinkaya, believes he can explain all the situations that are at the origin of the conflict, with evidence, so that Sporting fans also understand the player's motives. 'In this sense, Record has learned, the agent is keeping open the possibility of revealing, specifically, an audio message from Hugo Viana, in which he will confirm the gentlemen's agreement to allow Gyokeres to leave for €60m + €10m, following the meeting held on September 19 last year.'

Gyokeres decides on £11m-a-year contract offer amid Arsenal and Man Utd battle
Viktor Gyokeres has his heart set on a move to Arsenal and has rejected a huge £11m-per-year contract offer from Serie A side Juventus, according to reports from Italy Viktor Gyokeres has reportedly decided to reject a lucrative contract offer from Juventus, with the striker preferring a move to Arsenal. Gyokeres is one of the most in-demand footballers in Europe right now, having fired Sporting Lisbon to the double last season. The 27-year-old scored 54 goals in 52 appearances across all competitions as Sporting won the Primeira Liga and Taca de Portugal. Arsenal, Manchester United and Juventus have all been heavily linked with Gyokeres, but it appears the player has his heart set on a move to the Emirates. It emerged earlier this month that Juventus were ready to offer Gyokeres a stunning £11m-per-year deal to try and persuade him to snub a Premier League move in favour of a switch to Serie A. However, Corriere dello Sport are now reporting that Juventus have been informed that Gyokeres only wants to join Arsenal this summer. The news comes amid a public spat between Gyokeres' agent and Sporting over a supposed 'gentleman's agreement'. Gyokeres has an £85million release clause, but his agent has claimed he reached an agreement with the club last season that they would accept bids in the region of £60m. However, Sporting president Frederico Varandas has insisted that is not the case. "One thing you should already know is me better," said Varandas, per Record. "Threats, blackmail and insults don't work with me. I can guarantee that Viktor Gyokeres will not leave for €60m+10m (£51m+£8.5m) because I never promised him that. "This game that the agent is playing only makes the situation worse. To this day, Sporting has not had an offer for Viktor Gyokeres, neither today nor last season. I think it's fair to explain the whole process. "The process started last year when the season ended, Sporting were champions and had a fantastic season. During the transfer window we realised that Viktor was going to stay at Sporting because we didn't receive a single offer for him. "When the season started, the agent approached Hugo Viana several times, asking if we could add an extra fee to the contract if he scored 'x' goals; I gave Viana the opportunity to negotiate, within reason. "Viana manages the relationship with the agents, and very well, this is done by the sporting director. One of the agent's biggest concerns was whether we would demand the value of the €100m (£85m) clause next year. "Viana negotiated with the agents over several meetings, until the agent himself asked for the president's presence to settle the matter once and for all. The issue of the bonus for 'x' goals seemed reasonable and at that meeting, where the president, the agent and Viana were present, no player was present, Viktor was not present, the agent wanted to guarantee certain things."
