Watch live: Philadelphia police announce arrest in abduction and sexual assault of 12-year-old girl
Philadelphia police have arrested a suspect in connection with an abduction and sexual assault that happened in North Philadelphia last week. Members of the Philadelphia Police Special Victims Unit will speak about the arrest Thursday morning. Around 9:30 p.m. on Friday, May 30, a 12-year-old girl was asleep in the backseat of a Ford Taurus that was left running near Germantown and Erie avenues. A man then stole the vehicle and drove away with the girl inside. About 20 minutes later, authorities found the girl at Broad Street and Roosevelt Boulevard outside the vehicle. Police later determined the girl had been sexually assaulted. The news conference is set to begin at 11 a.m. Thursday. Man arrested following alleged ‘violent sexual assault' in Mississauga
Peel police say investigators arrested Ravinder Dhaliwal, 27, of Mississauga on May 7 for sexual assault. Peel police have arrested a man after he allegedly sexually assaulted someone who was cleaning his home in Mississauga last month. Peel Regional Police (PRP) say the victim went to the accused's home on May 6, after she was contacted to 'provide cleaning services' through an online platform. Once inside, the victim was allegedly sexually assaulted and threatened. PRP say investigators from the Special Victims Unit (SVU) arrested Ravinder Dhaliwal, 27, of Mississauga on May 7. He is charged with assault, sexual assault–strangle, forcible confinement, and uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm. Dhaliwal was held for bail hearing and appeared at Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton. Investigators believe there may be other victims and are urging anyone with information to contact the SVU at 905-453-2121, ext. 3460, or Crime Stoppers anonymously.

Police search for suspect, stolen car after girl, 12, abducted, sexually assaulted
The Brief A horrifying situation played out Friday night as police say a 12-year-old girl was abducted and sexually assaulted. An active search is underway by Philadelphia police for a suspect and a stolen car. HUNTING PARK - Officials say a suspect search is on after a 12-year-old girl was abducted and sexually assaulted near Philly's Hunting Park neighborhood. What we know Friday night, about 9:30, Philadelphia police were called to an area near Germantown and Erie avenues on the report of an abduction in progress. Police discovered that a 12-year-old girl was sleeping in the backseat of a 2010 white Ford Taurus, while the car was running and the keys were in the ignition. An unknown person got into the car and drove off. According to authorities, just before 10 p.m., the girl was found at Broad Street and Roosevelt Boulevard. She had been sexually assaulted. Police rushed her to a local hospital for treatment and evaluation. Dig deeper Police are looking for a man with a thin build who was wearing all dark clothing in connection to the incident. They are also searching for the 2010 white Ford Taurus. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Special Victim's Unit at 215-685-3251 or call the PPD tipline at 215-686-TIPS (8477).
