Former Disney star Christy Carlson Romano reveals shocking details about nearly losing her eye after being shot in face

Christy Carlson Romano is speaking out about nearly losing an eye after she was shot in the face four months ago. During an appearance on the upcoming June 10 episode of the 'Not a Damn Chance!' podcast, via a sneak peek by People magazine, the 41-year-old former Disney star recalled the terrifying incident while she was shooting clay pigeons with her husband, Brendan Rooney, for his birthday. Asked how it happened, Romano explained she was not 'at liberty to say specifics,' according to People. The actress previously revealed on Instagram that she was 'hit in five places,' including below her eye. Romano shared details for the first time about what transpired. 'It's a birdshot that got sprayed in my direction by another party, and essentially it was within 200 feet, which means really fast and hot,' she told hosts Neen Williams and Frankland Lee. 'They weren't malicious,' Romano clarified. 'It wasn't aggravated assault. It's what happened.' The 'Even Stevens' star then emphasized the importance of gun safety and described her initial response. 4 Christy Carlson Romano sits in the hospital after being shot in the face at a party in February, 2025. 'I feel very out of body about it. … It's pretty wild,' she said. 'I'm shocked, and what goes through my head immediately is, 'Oh that's dope, I just got shot.' And then I go, 'Oh now I'm gonna die,'' she said. 'I take a knee. My husband witnessed it and was like, 'Hey are you hit?' because I didn't scream. I didn't do anything. I was just out of body.' Romano recalled she had a knee-jerk reaction upon being shot that stemmed from her time on the third season of the FOX reality TV series 'Special Forces: World's Toughest Test.' 4 The actress previously revealed on Instagram that she was 'hit in five places,' including below her eye. Romano explained that the contestants were trained to give a thumbs-up to let their fellow cast members know that they were OK during the series' perilous challenges. The 'Kim Possible' alum recalled that, out of habit, she gave Rooney a thumbs-up immediately after she was shot. 'He was like, 'Oh, you're good.' And I was like, 'No I'm hit.' He goes, 'Oh s—,'' Romano recalled of her husband's reaction. She remembered that Rooney rushed to her aid and had to restrain himself from retaliating against the other party. 4 Christy Carlson Romano and Hillary Duff in a scene from 'Cadet Kelly.' ©Disney Channel/Courtesy Everett Collection 'So, he's running to me and making sure I'm OK, and he's fighting the urge to hurt the person … but he's been practicing stoicism recently, and there was something in him,' Romano recalled. 'He was immediately into action mode, evaluating me and ran to get the car. 'I felt this huge rush that I'd never felt before where I was starting to get really woozy. I think it was shock.' Romano told the hosts she didn't experience any pain initially and described the thoughts that were running through her head, including her fears her children might be affected. The actress shares daughters Isabella, 7, and Sofia, 5, with Rooney. 'I was covered in blood from my forehead … and I said three things. I was like, 'Am I gonna die? Who's gonna take care of the girls? Is my career over?'' she recalled. Romano explained that she came close to being blinded or killed. 'If my head would've been tilted in any other direction, I would have been blind in my right eye. Or if I had turned my head, I could have gotten hit in a softer side of my skull, and I would have potentially been dead,' Romano said. 'It's still in my eye,' she said of the pellets from the shotgun. 'I have a fragment still in my forehead, and I have a fragment still behind my eye, which is 1 millimeter away from blinding me.' Romano previously explained on Instagram that the lead fragment behind her eye had to remain in her face because removing it could leave her blind. 4 Christy Carlson Roman poses for a picture during a family trip to Disneyland in May 2025. Christy Carlson Romano/Instagram The shot fragment lodged in her skull will also remain in place because doctors said it will expedite her healing process. During her podcast interview, Romano told hosts she put on a brave face at first and was making jokes about her medical crisis after she arrived at the hospital. 'In retrospect, I was trying to be funny and not cry because I wanted the people around me to feel more calm so that they could take better care of me,' Romano said. The former Broadway star admitted that it has been difficult to accept she is a 'gunshot survivor.' Clay pigeon shooting is an outdoor sport in which upside-down circular disks made of limestone and pitch used as targets are propelled into the air by machines called traps. Shooters use shotguns, with each shot projecting hundreds of small lead balls to hit the clay pigeons. The sport is typically not considered dangerous as long as safety measures are follow.

People got an exclusive look at an upcoming episode of the Not a Damn Chance! podcast — hosted by pro skateboarder Neen Williams and Michelin-starred chef Phillip Frankland Lee — where Christy revisited the moment when it all went down. On Feb. 7, while shooting clay pigeons for her husband, Brendan Rooney's, birthday, Christy was shot in the face. In the caption alongside a video shared on her Instagram on Feb. 8, Christy wrote, "Yesterday was my husband's birthday and I took him to shoot clay pigeons as a present. There was another party with us and they unsafely fired in the wrong direction and shot me in the face. @thebrendanrooney immediately sprung into action, assessed me, and rushed me to the hospital. I was hit in 5 places, one was less than an inch from hitting me directly in my right eye." On the podcast, Christy told Neen that she was not "at liberty to say specifics" on how it happened but did share a few details about the frightening incident. "It's a birdshot that got sprayed in my direction by another party, and essentially it was within 200 feet, which means really fast and hot," Christy explained. According to People, she clarified that it wasn't "malicious" or "aggravated assualt," while noting the importance of gun safety. On Feb. 12, Christy shared another update after visiting plastic surgeon Dr. Chris Schneider. Christy wrote, "When the fragment that struck my head hit, it gave me a concussion (explains why I was so woozy). Who is Savannah Chrisley? Todd and Julie Chrisley daughter that pushed for pardon

Todd and Julie Chrisley are out from behind bars after President Donald Trump pardoned the two on tax evasion and fraud charges. On May 30, the whole Chrisley family came together to speak, including the couple's biggest advocate, their daughter Savannah. Savannah Chrisley has made a name for herself in her quest to get her parents pardoned. But her actions went a bit beyond the usual sphere of writing a petition to the president for a pardon. Savannah Chrisley was vocal to the media and even took to the stage at the Republican National Convention in 2024 to plead her parents' case and of them being "persecution" by a "two-faced judicial system" that persecutes "Christians and conservatives that the government has labeled extremists or even worse." The plea apparently was heard by Trump and he called Savannah Chrisley personally to tell her in a social media video on May 27, to tell her about her parents' pardon. Here's everything to know about the former reality star from Tennessee and her quest to free her parents. The former reality television star is Todd and Julie Chrisley's middle daughter. Chrisley is mostly known for her appearances in "Chrisley Knows Best," "Special Forces: World's Toughest Test," and "Sharknado: The 4th Awakens." Originally from Atlanta, Georgia, the 27-year-old reality TV star lives in Middle Tennessee where in addition to podcasting, she also works in real estate. She won Miss Tennessee Teen USA in 2016 and placed in the top 15 at Miss Teen USA 2016. This year she was revealed as the "Afghan Hound" on the "Wizard of US" night of "The Masked Singer." After Trump's announcement of Todd and Julie Chrisley's pardon, Savannah reported getting ready for their return. "We're getting some clothes together for mom and dad, getting their room put together upstairs, and I'm just speechless. I can't thank you guys enough for sticking with my family along the way and for loving us and supporting us," she said. On May 28, Julie and Todd were back in the Nashville area. Todd and Julie Chrisley were found guilty in June 2022 of committing tax evasion and defrauding community banks out of more than $30 million in fraudulent loans. Julie Chrisley was also convicted of obstruction of justice and wire fraud. In November 2022, the couple was originally sentenced to 12 and seven years in prison, respectively. They also received an order of 16 months probation from U.S. District Judge Eleanor Ross in Atlanta, news outlets reported. A few weeks ago, the Chrisleys were further ordered to turn over $30,000 held in an Alabama trust fund to help pay for their $17 million judgment after their guilty verdict. Todd was sentenced to 12 years at Florida's Federal Prison Camp Pensacola while Julie received a seven-year sentence at Kentucky's Federal Medical Center in Lexington. The two began their prison sentences in January 2023. While Trump mentioned trying to get Julie and Todd Chrisley out by May 28, which happened. The couple was released from their respective federal prisons in Florida and Kentucky that day and were on the "way home to Nashville," according to the family's legal representation. The Chrisley family moved from Atlanta to Nashville in 2015. This article originally appeared on Nashville Tennessean: Todd, Julie Chrisley daughter Savannah Chrisley pushed for pardons

Kourtney Kardashian slams 'controlling' Caitlyn Jenner in furious rant

Reality TV icon Kourtney Kardashian has hit out at Caitlyn Jenner's parenting skills in a brutal swipe while appearing on sister Khloe's podcast Kourtney Kardashian has slammed Caitlyn Jenner as she reflected on her upbringing, describing the star's approach to parenting as 'controlling' and 'bossy.' The Kardashians star, 46, made the remarks during an appearance on her sister Khloe Kardashian 's podcast, Khloe In Wonder Land. As the eldest daughter of Kris Jenner and the late Robert Kardashian, Kourtney opened up about her dynamic with Caitlyn, who married Kris, 69, in 1991 and remained in the family until their 2015 divorce. ‌ The conversation turned to parenting styles when Khloe praised Kourtney for taking a more relaxed role in co-parenting with her husband Travis Barker. '[Caitlyn] never tried to be dad,' Khloe said, referencing their late father Robert. 'And I always appreciated and respected that.' ‌ However, Kourtney offered a different take. 'Okay, so, that wasn't my experience,' she responded. 'But maybe that's why it became your experience. So [I'm] grateful for that for you.' She went on to recall tense moments from her youth. 'I would be like, 'I wanna call my Dad,' and [Caitlyn] would hang up the phone. We would have yelling wars.' Kourtney said Jenner even imposed strict rules on her social life: 'Certain friends can't come over.' Kourtney explained that these confrontations eventually led her to move in with her father Robert before his death from esophageal cancer in 2003. Khloe admitted she once assumed the friction came from Kourtney feeling that Caitlyn was 'replacing dad,' though she added: 'Not that he did, no one could replace dad.' During their marriage, Caitlyn and Kris welcomed daughters Kendall and Kylie, and Caitlyn also became step-parent to Kourtney, Khloe, Kim, and Rob. From previous relationships, Caitlyn has four more children - Brody, Burt, Brandon, and Cassandra. ‌ Years after her 2015 transition, Caitlyn opened up in an interview with Diane Sawyer on 20/20 about the state of her relationships with her children. 'Some [of my children] I have remained very close to. A couple of them… I'm a little more distant,' she said. 'I have to admit, I'll sit here and wonder, 'Is it because of my transitioning? Or is it because their life is so busy that they don't call, like, all the time? Nobody calls that much. I mostly reach out to them. Obviously, the Jenner side calls more, but they all have their own lives.' This year, Brody Jenner offered his own perspective during an episode of Special Forces: World's Toughest Test, reflecting on Caitlyn's absence during his childhood. ‌ 'I had an incredible mother. Father, Bruce, at the time, wasn't around that much,' he shared, according to E! News. However, Brody revealed that their relationship has seen some healing: 'Just recently, I got a real, sincere apology. It was the first time in my life that I've ever gotten an apology. You know, I'm sorry for not being there, and honestly, it meant a lot.'
