MSU target, 3-star DL Gavin Neil picks up offer from Boston College

A Michigan State defensive lineman target is gaining some traction on the recruiting trail, with a power four school extending him an offer this week. Gavin Neil of Chicago Heights, Ill. announced on Tuesday that he's received an offer from Boston College. Neil posted on his social media X account to share the notable offer from the Eagles. Advertisement Neil is a three-star defensive lineman in the 2026 class, and holds a recruiting rating of 86 on 247Sports. He ranks as the No. 140 defensive lineman and No. 34 player from Illinois in the class. Michigan State and Boston College are the only two power four conference schools to offer Neil at this point in his recruitment, according to 247Sports. He holds other offers from smaller schools such as Ball State, Eastern Michigan, Western Michigan, Central Michigan, Marshall, Wyoming, Air Force, Army and Northern Illinois. Neil is set to take an official visit to Michigan State on June 20, and is currently projected to end up a Spartan via 247Sports' crystal ball predictions. So this latest offer from Boston College could threaten the Spartans' chances of landing his commitment later this month. 3-star DL Arthur Scott of Streetsboro, Ohio schedules official visit to Michigan State

A newer Spartan recruiting target has locked in an official visit to Michigan State for next month. Arthur Scott of Streetsboro, Ohio announced on Friday that he'll be taking an official visit to Michigan State in June. According to a post on social media platform X, Scott will be visiting Michigan State on June 13. The announcement of an official visit to Michigan State comes only a few days after Scott picked up an offer from the Spartans. Advertisement Scott is a three-star defensive lineman in the 2026 class. He has a recruiting ranking of 86 on 247Sports. Scott ranks as the No. 115 defensive lineman in the 2026 class, according to 247Sports. He is also listed as the No. 59 player from Ohio in the class. Scott holds offers from 15 schools, according to 247Sports. Other programs that are showing interest in him with a scholarship offer are Rutgers, Wisconsin, Cincinnati, West Virginia, Akron, Bowling Green, Buffalo, Central Michigan, Kent State, Miami (OH), Ohio, Toledo, Western Kentucky and Western Michigan. Scott is also scheduled to visit Wisconsin (May 30), Rutgers (6) and Cincinnati (June 20), according to 247Sports. In-state commit schedules official visit to Michigan State football

Michigan State football earned the walk-on commitment from Jack Lansing, a 3-star linebacker from Hartland (MI) earlier this month. Now, the in-state product has scheduled his official visit to Michigan State. Lansing, a 6'0" and 200 pound linebacker that plays at Hartland High School, is a highly valued walk-on commitment, ranking very high for a walk-on as an 84 rated 3-star according to 247Sports. While he may begin as a preferred walk-on, the opportunity to begin his career on scholarship or gain a scholarship while on campus is still very much a possibility. Things got sticky for a moment, but Michigan State baseball will be making the trip to Omaha, playing in the 2025 Big Ten Tournament. Michigan State entered the weekend against Minnesota needing to take care of business, holding off Northwestern to keep themselves inside of the top 12 in the Big Ten's standings. After MSU dropped the first two games of the weekend, and Northwestern split the first two with UCLA, it all came down to Saturday's games. Advertisement In the Spartans affair with the Golden Gophers, Michigan State won a thriller behind Randy Seymour's walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth, taking an 11-10 victory. Following the win, it was time for the Spartans to lock into Northwestern's affair with UCLA, needing the Wildcats to lose to get their ticket to Omaha. During that game, UCLA took care of business, run-ruling Northwestern, 11-1 in seven innings The Wildcats loss punches Michigan State's ticket into the Big Ten Tournament, securing them the No. 12 seed. As the No. 12 seed, Michigan State will lock up with the No. 1 and No. 8 seeds in the round robin portion of the Big Ten Tournament, playing for their spot in the Big Ten semifinals. Big Ten Tournament details released for Michigan State baseball, others

Michigan State baseball punched their ticket to Omaha, sneaking their way into the Big Ten Tournament as the No. 12 seed. With festivities beginning on Tuesday, the Big Ten has released schedule details for the upcoming tournament. In baseball, the Big Ten tournament starts as a round robin, where teams are split into four pods of three - playing the other two teams in the pods. The team with the best record at the conclusion of the two games will move on to a single elimination semifinal matchup. If all three teams end in a 1-1 tie, the highest seed gets the spot in the semifinal as the tiebreaker. Advertisement Michigan State, as the No. 12 seed, was paired with the No. 1 seed and No. 8 seed. Those two teams ended up being Oregon, who was a co-champ in the Big Ten's regular season, and Nebraska. MSU's first game will be on Tuesday, May 20, at approx. 6 p.m. against Nebraska. Their second game will be played on Thursday, May 22, also at approx. 6 p.m. against Oregon.
