Steps in place to revive past glory of Agriculture Department, says Sarvepalli MLA

Sarvepalli MLA and former Minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy said that the government is taking all steps to revive the past glory of the Agriculture Department, which suffered due to the 'misrule' in the last five years. He was speaking at a programme organised in Varigonda village of Thotapalli Gudur mandal in Nellore district on Sunday, when he pointed out that the TDP-led alliance government had restarted the scheme to distribute farm equipment on subsidy to farmers. Breathing fire on the previous YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) regime, he said that the Agriculture Department suffered a serious setback, while the farmers had to undergo severe financial stress due to the shelving of several well-intended schemes. 'The present government is taking all steps to breathe life into such schemes to benefit the farmers, a step considered vital to revive the lost glory of the Agriculture Department,' said Mr. Chandramohan Reddy. Interestingly, he headed the Agriculture portfolio during the Telugu Desam Party's (TDP) erstwhile stint during 2014-2019. 'The government is offering drones worth ₹10 lakh at a subsidised rate of ₹2 lakh for farmers. This is a historic decision,' he said. The legislator appealed to the farmers to visit the village secretariat to check for their status in the beneficiaries list of 'Annadata Sukhibhava' scheme.
