As Oasis prepare to return to their Manchester roots on tour - these are the humble homes of northern band stars

Oasis are set to take to the stage in their hometown of Manchester next month as part of their highly-anticipated reunion tour. While the brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher, will rake in millions thanks to ticket sales, merchandise and even a documentary - it wasn't always this way. The brothers might currently have an estimated net worth of around £60m between them but were raised on a south Manchester council estate, by their mother Peggy - a £1-a-week cleaner. Over the years, Noel and Liam - whose older brother Paul also works in the music industry - have both made reference to their 'horrific' childhood in interviews. And despite Noel and Liam's repeated attempts to buy their mother a new home over the years, Peggy has always insisted on remaining in the same council house in Manchester. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. The Gallagher brothers aren't the only Manchester based stars to come from humble beginnings. From Simply Red's Mick Hucknall to Mark Owen of Take That and even Harry Styles, many famous faces grew up in Manchester. Mick, 65, who rose to international fame as the pop band's lead singer, once told of how his mother walked out of the family home when he was just three years old leaving him to be raised by his father in Denton, Manchester. Following his success with Simply Red, he went on to purchase a home in Chorlton, not far from his favourite football team, Manchester United. The house, which he bought for £70,000 back in 1997, is detached and features two huge bay windows on the front. Also in Chorlton, brothers Barry, Robin, and Maurice Gibb of The Bee Gees lived in a terraced house on Keppel Road for seven years. They went on to make their debut performance as The Rattlesnakes in 1957 at the former Gaumont cinema in the area. Oldham-raised Mark Owen may have traded rainy Manchester in favour of Los Angeles but he was once just a northern kid who lived in a terraced house. Further out of town, in the village and civil parish of Holmes Chapel, One Direction's Harry Styles grew up in a quaint three-bedroom property. In March the mid-terraced property was listed for sale for £350,000 and was previously on the market in November 2023. 'With neutral decor throughout, offering ready to walk into accommodation which comprises of a living room to the front with feature fire place and a box bay window, while to the rear is the heart of this home - an open plan living and dining kitchen,' the estate agents, Gascoigne Halman said. Harry is now believed to reside in north London having moved out of the family home soon after rising to fame with One Direction.
