Sanitation certificates can now be obtained on T.N. e-Sevai portal

: Sanitation certificates can now be obtained on the Tamil Nadu e-Sevai portal — The Directorate of Public Health and Preventive Medicine, in a communication, said that the 'issue of sanitary certificate service' was now live on the e—Sevai portal. On May 29, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin officially launched the 'SimpleGov' initiative, marking the full transition to an online Sanitation Certificate system. All institutions are now required to apply or renew certificates exclusively through the e-Sevai portal. Applicants should visit the portal, complete or update their registration, upload all necessary documents, including the sanitation protocol, and submit a self-affidavit signed by the authorised person. On successful submission, the sanitation certificate will be auto-generated with a validity of one year. As per a Government Order, the types of institutions required to obtain the certificates include schools, colleges, shopping malls, marriage halls, factories, including micro, small and medium enterprises, old age homes, children's homes, and working women's hostels. These institutions are considered critical due to their high footfall, raising the need for hygienic conditions to prevent public health risks. The sanitation certificate must be prominently displayed on the premises, along with this, the sanitation protocol must be followed. Authorities from the directorate will be inspecting the institutions, and taking necessary action, whenever required. Manual method ended As per the revised procedure, the existing manual process for issuing the certificates has been discontinued with immediate effect. No physical copies of applications or documents will be accepted. Applications, document submissions, and processing would be carried out exclusively through the Tamil Nadu e-Sevai portal, the directorate said. All District Health Officers have been requested to ensure that the revised procedure is disseminated to all stakeholders in their respective districts, including establishments and field staff.

Webinar held on registering old age homes, women's homes, and hostels on e-Sevai portal

The Department of Social Welfare and SimpleGov organised a webinar on how to apply for services that are available on the e-Sevai portal. The webinar focused on three services – registration of old age homes, registration and licence for homes for women; and licence for working women's hostels. Many NGOs, especially those in the hostel industry, took part in the webinar. Last month, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin launched SimpleGov, which has simplified the process of availing various services and schemes offered by the government. P.W.C. Davidar, Advisor (Digital and Simplified Governance) to Tamil Nadu e-Governance Agency (TneGA), explained how easy it was to obtain licences now. 'For those who don't have access to the internet, they can visit the nearest e-Sevai centre. We have done away with the practice of asking for unnecessary documents. One can now download the licences online,' he said. 'All necessary documents can be uploaded by the applicants themselves. Once the payment is done, they can check the status and download the certificates,' Mr. Davidar said. The validity of some of the licences have been extended. For instance, the licence for Homes for Women is now valid for 10 years. In the case of old age homes, if there are fewer than 20 people operating under a cooperative model and supporting each other, registration is not required. However, if they operate as a trust, registration is mandatory. Obtaining sanitation and fire certificates has also been simplified. In the case of a public building licence, any empanelled engineer can provide a structural soundness certificate. For hostels obtaining new licences, renewal and closure can be done online. In case the application has been returned, its status can be checked online. All information related to these services is available on where registration can also be done. Homes for women are run by NGOs to provide shelter, food, clothing, counselling, training, medical support and legal aid to women in difficult circumstances. The registration of such homes is mandatory to ensure proper regulation, monitoring, and adherence to standards for the safety and well-being of the residents. Registration of old age homes is mandatory to ensure proper regulation, monitoring, and compliance with standards for the welfare of elderly residents. It prevents exploitation, ensures quality care, and allows homes to avail government benefits or subsidies. Registration also promotes accountability and transparency.

TN launches SimpleGov to fast-track certificates, NOCs

Chennai: Want to start a hotel, open a hostel, or just get a passport as a govt employee? You no longer have to run across departments. The Tamil Nadu govt has launched SimpleGov — a digitised, self-declaration-based system to issue key certificates and NOCs in a day, skipping months of red tape. The initial rollout covers ten services — including sanitation certificates, public building licences, registration for old age homes, hostels for working women and women's homes, solvency certificates, white category industries list, NOCs for converting wetlands to non-agricultural use, good conduct certificates, and NOCs for govt staff applying for passports. The services were launched by Chief Minister M K Stalin, and the govt plans to add 150 services to this soon. Until now, several of these services required physical documents, in-person inspections, and long processing times — often stretching from several weeks to more than a year. With SimpleGov, most services will be delivered within a day, using digital KYC, QR codes, automated workflows, and self-declaration forms. PWC Davidar, advisor, SimpleGov, said one of the most important reforms was NOCs for govt employees applying for passports. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Magic Quadrant for Strategic Cloud Platform Services - Google Cloud: Future of Infrastructure CIO | Google Cloud, AMD Undo "The Secretariat clears about 500 passport NOCs for officials every week, the highest being from the school education department. We've now amended procedures so officials just need to upload a prior intimation letter on the IFHRMS portal. They can proceed with their passport applications without a formal NOC," he said. Getting sanitation certificates — a key requirement for businesses such as hotels and resorts — has also been made simpler. "Earlier, paperwork for these certificates crossed at least 30 tables without any value addition and took a month. Now, applicants can upload a self-declaration on cleanliness, working toilets, and no mosquito breeding on the e-governance portal. They will get an automated certificate immediately. But there will be provisions for public health officials to inspect at any time," Davidar said. Tamil Nadu e-Governance Agency (TNeGA) director M Govinda Rao said that SimpleGov services have been integrated into both departmental portals and the TNeGA platform. "It's being improved regularly," he said. A high-level committee will monitor the rollout.

CM Stalin launches ‘SimpleGov' to streamline government services

CHENNAI: Chief Minister M K Stalin on Thursday launched a set of self-certification, extended period of licences, simplified processes and exemptions under 10 different categories of government services under the 'SimpleGov'. The initiative was announced in this year's budget, allowing people to easily access services and significantly improve approval process for industries. The list included a self-certification process for buildings that require sanitation certificates, licences for old-age homes, hostels for working women and homes for women. These processes that earlier used to take anywhere between three months to one year can now be completed within a single day through online portals, a release said. Moreover, the period for which licences are issued at present for old-age homes, working women's hostels, and women's hostels have been extended from three years to 10 years. Similarly, the period of licences issued for public buildings has been extended from three years till the period mentioned in the stability certificate of the building. Importantly, the government has exempted 609 types of 'white category' industries from obtaining clearance from Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board. The list of white category industries has been expanded from just 37 to 609 by the government after 'careful consideration,' the release said. The government has also done away with the need for a solvency certificate, needed to prove the financial stability of someone, since other instruments like bank statements, auditor's certificate and income tax filings are available to ascertain the same, the release said. Hailing the move, the CM, in his post on the X handle, said, 'The SimpleGov initiative is set to bring about a revolutionary transformation that will astonish both the public and industrial houses! A new dawn is on the horizon for the people's long-standing struggles.'
