Busy mum-of-three ditches regular diets to lose four stone
Makeda, from London, suffered from joint and back pain but turned to a health app to change her lifestyle Losing weight is difficult, and it's especially so when little help is available. It gets even harder when there are so many different bits of advice floating around, from Atkins to intermittent fasting - finding the right one that works is like swimming in a sea of misinformation and fake Instagram accounts. However, one London mum-of-three managed to shed four stone with the help of an app, Simple. Makeda says she was at her heaviest - 18.5 stone, or 117.5kg - after the birth of her twins, where she already was mum to a daughter, who was under five at the time. Despite having one of the busiest lifestyles possible, it was her children that motivated her to lose weight - bringing her down to an incredible 14 stone (88kg). Makeda said: "I had got up to about 18.5 stone. I am very happy to be a mum, but I just really felt the pressure. I had gained a lot of weight. It's the heaviest I'd ever been, and I was just always in a lot of pain. I had a lot of joint pain and back pain, and I just felt like I just couldn't keep up. "And one of the goals for me was, yes, I wanted to lose the weight and I wanted to feel good in my body, but I also wanted to feel strong in my body. I wanted to know that if one of the twins needed picking up, I could carry both of them at the same time or push the double buggy and carry my other daughter." Before Makeda found Simple - a health app that helps people track their nutrition and aids in intermittent fasting - she tried a multitude of other diets without success. She continued: "I really was just struggling. Struggling to form any form of habit, and I tried all the diets, every diet I tried it, and I would do really well for maybe the first week, two weeks, maybe even a month, but I just realised it wasn't bespoke to me and my lifestyle. "It was kind of like they were trying to, these diets were trying to fit me into a particular category, and it just didn't work. I just couldn't be consistent with it." Makeda - who is also studying to be an occupational therapist while raising her little ones - managed to shift the weight with small lifestyle changes, aided by the Simple app. Currently, the app is offering a 60% discount with the code REACH60. This state-of-the-art AI coaching app crafts customised weight loss programmes based on lifestyle, activity levels, health objectives and timeline - promoting a balanced diet that yields sustainable, long-term results as users can continue to enjoy their favourite treats. Makeda shared that using the Simple app, which provides users with a personalised diet plan that may incorporate intermittent fasting - eating wholesome meals during specific hours of the day and fasting for the remaining time - helped her reassess her nutrition and revamp her lifestyle. She continued: "I didn't change my lifestyle too much, other than I just was really enthusiastic to move my body more. I woke up when I woke up, I was pain free, and full transparency, there were times when I stopped using the app. You know, and my weight fluctuated due to starting studying or due to stress or just life in general. But the really nice thing was I could always come back to it, come back to it, have a reset, and then get back on program." Makeda also praised the integrated AI app, Avo. It helps you plan exercise routines and diet plans, as well as giving reminders for things like when to fast. Simple also allows you to track food by taking a picture of the ingredients. It then translates the food into a meal score based on the nutritional intake. She said: "The AI really is very, very intuitive, it really works for you. You get your reminders, you get the support, but it's very much for you. So I really, I really like that aspect of it." Makeda added: "What makes me really happy now is I go out, take walks, I hike, I go on adventures with my daughters, and I have enough strength and stamina and resilience to do that." There's a wealth of other apps available that aid users in shedding pounds, much like Simple. For instance, Lifesum is free to download and enables users to monitor their meals, displaying calorie and macro information, with advice on what to consume and even an intermittent fasting tracker. In the same vein, Noom is a weight loss app that centres on healthy lifestyle alterations and behavioural psychology, offering personalised plans and support for its users. Meanwhile, Simple has a 4.3 from 30,217 reviews on Trustpilot. One happy user wrote: "Easy to use, not about calories about healthy eating and no guilt." Another added: "I initially joined Simple for the wall Pilates programme but have really enjoyed the food nutrition guidance and the fasting advice.. I have lost weight, I'm eating healthier and am enjoying the workouts!" A third wrote: "Without a doubt, AI has been a great experience. I never would have believed that a computer-generated person would be of so much help! But here we are in a new world of possibilities. This might be the best money I've ever spent. I thank you." However, some users reported issues, with one person saying: "So far I'm losing weight by being accountable and intentional about my food choices. I'm not very good with technology, so navigating the Simple program is challenging. I'll get better going forward."

Health app helped woman drop four stone without giving up ice cream
Brianna Alexander has shared her weight loss journey which saw her shed more than four stone without giving up any of her favourite foods - and she's kept it off for five years We're often led to believe that a successful diet requires giving up all our favourite guilty pleasures, which can turn what should be enjoyable (like indulging in a bit of chocolate on a cosy Sunday night) into a joyless endeavour. Plus, this restrictive attitude might actually hinder weight loss and long-term maintenance. But Brianna Alexander is living proof that deprivation isn't necessary for weight loss success. She shared her inspirational story of losing over four stone (27kg, 60lbs) while still enjoying her beloved snacks, managing to keep the weight off for five years thanks to a sustainable nutrition plan crafted with help from the Simple weight loss app, which incorporated intermittent fasting into her routine. After losing four stone and four pounds, Brianna said: "Throughout this journey I have seen many ups and downs of fasting. Reflecting on my nutrition has really taught me a thing or two on losing weight and how it affects your energy levels, your confidence, and completely transforming your life in terms of working out.' As well as aiding her weight loss, Brianna credits the app with giving her education and knowledge to understand the effects certain foods can have. She added: "I've actually been able to learn a lot more about my nutrition and some of the things that make you feel better when you eat certain foods, and why you crash after eating a big meal. Things like that I've learned through the Simple app." Brianna's triumph in getting fitter and healthier came from meticulously revising her diet with the assistance of the Simple app, now 60% off using the voucher code REACH60. This nifty AI-powered coaching app tailors unique slimming strategies according to an individual's lifestyle, activity level, health ambitions, and timing – it promotes a balanced diet for lasting outcomes whilst letting foodies enjoy their most-loved snacks, reports Wales Online. "I downloaded the app in 2020 because I didn't really have a sense of where I wanted to go in terms of my fitness goals and my healthy lifestyle goals," Brianna said. She admitted that at the time, she was not on the best path - succumbing to stress eating, indulging in midnight binges, and struggling with low energy levels. Brianna relied heavily on caffeine to push through the day and find the motivation to exercise. Brianna shared that the Simple app was a game-changer in transforming her eating habits, providing her with a custom eating plan which could include intermittent fasting, a regimen of consuming nutritious meals during particular windows and fasting outside those times. "The first, biggest misconception I had when I started fasting was I would be hungry all the time and it's going to make me really upset and angry," she confessed. "After I started fasting, I realised that I actually felt hungry the entire time and I couldn't figure out why exactly I was. I eventually did some more digging and the app helped me understand why I was hungry, and that's how I learned about my nutrition. "My nutrition was very poor and low at the time. Every time you input a food into the Simple app and it gives you a daily nutrition score. As a reflection of a low or bad diet, I was feeling terrible throughout the day, so sleepy and tired and just not my best self." Brianna revealed that when she embarked on her healthy eating journey in 2020, her diet was laden with fast food and a lack of fruit and vegetables. The Simple app came to the rescue by helping her recognise what should be on her plate, aiding her in planning meals, shopping, and setting up exercise routines, all while receiving tips from Avo, the in-app AI coach. "That was able to be my template for the week of things I should be doing and goals I should have throughout the week," she explained. "All that was tailored to my own personal goals and if you're a new user to it and you don't know where to start, that's one hundred percent where a new user should start." Expressing her gratitude, Brianna added: "I really am grateful that I am tracking it, that I'm staying consistent, the app makes it really easy," and shared how even though ice cream was once her soft spot, she has discovered a way to indulge responsibly. "Ice cream used to be one of my biggest weaknesses in terms of not getting the nutrition I needed, but eventually I found some alternatives that provide lower calories and more proteins," she shared. "So I'm not completely without ice cream, I can still have it. But ensuring my nutrition is on-point is the most consistent thing about your diet." There are a host of other apps available that aid users in their weight loss journey, similar to Simple. For instance, Lifesum is a free app that allows users to log their meals, providing calorie and macro information, with guidance on what to eat and even an intermittent fasting tracker. In the same vein, Noom is a weight loss app that emphasises healthy lifestyle changes and behavioural psychology, offering personalised plans and support for its users. However, Brianna isn't the only one who has found success with Simple. Numerous people have taken to Trustpilot to share their positive experiences. "Scanning your meal makes it so easy. But what I didn't expect was how good the coach was at providing great recipes and healthy options to make changes to the recipes," one user wrote. Another added: "The app is very informative and helpful in keeping me on track to be successful in reaching my goals regarding my weight loss journey. I have been delightfully pleased with the results I am achieving at this time. I'm glad that I found this particular app. It's truly on point and helpful in my journey in getting to where I want to be physically and mentally." But not every comment was glowing, as some users highlighted a few snags. One individual suggested: "A tutorial is needed for all the features for optimal use." Another pointed out: "I am learning a lot, but if I'm honest it is too much checking in. I know this is to help me get on track, but there are times it is just too much." While another added: "The Simple Life App is easy to follow, very useful, and informative. I can definitely see myself using this app long term!". Currently, The Simple app has become even more accessible with a smashing 60% off using the code REACH60.

Mum of two loses 17.7kg in four months after doctor wake-up call
A mum-of-two has explained how she lost more than 17kg using a fitness mobile app. An increasing number of fans are turning to an innovative health coaching app that's currently 60% off and swaps traditional calorie counting and restrictive eating in favour of a kinder method. The Simple app uses AI to offer completely personalised nutritional advice as well as helping tweak daily habits to make small but sustainable changes. Jennifer lost the 17.7kg, or 2.8 stone, within just four months after being mortified by her holiday snaps. She explained: "After one of our trips last year, we came back home and started going through some photos and I realised just how much I had let myself go. "I was absolutely horrified, to say the least. I had a doctors appointment coming up. I got on the scales for the first time in a long time and realised I weiged 205lbs, which... jaw to floor, I was mortified. I am only five foot one, so you can imagine." The stark revelation during the routine visit served as Jennifer's reality check. She said: "My doctor went ahead and put on my chart that I was now considered morbidly obese, which scared me to death. You hear those words... the word morbid is very, very scary and having other comorbidities coming with that is very, very scary as well. I just decided I've got to do something.", reports the Mirror. It wasn't her first attempt to get healthier, as she explained: "I have tried different kinds of workouts, different routines, different diets, and I don't stick to them. I was very sceptical from my past experiences and I also had an injury to my left knee. The first couple of days were so hard - I'm a stay-at-home mom, the kids are at home and want to snack all day. I would do the same. I was an emotional eater - if I was depressed, or anxious, I would immediately go to that." Jennifer stumbled upon an advert on social media for the high-tech Simple app, which touted the advantages of intermittent fasting, the science behind much of Dr Michael Mosley's health advice. She decided to give it a whirl, explaining: "With the app it made everything so simple. I check in in the morning, there's reminders all the time, I can find out when my next fast is, when I should be eating, you get tips on a daily basis, different things that you can swap out. The Simple App offers daily workouts, advice, dietary assessments and an AI assistant. Get 60% off "One of my absolute favourite parts of the app is they have an integrated AI software where you can just ask questions. If you go to a restaurant, it takes out all your guesswork." Jennifer attributes her weight loss to the app, which has seen her now lose the 'morbidly obese' label given to her by her doctor. She said: "This app has been absolutely life-changing for me. It just made everything so simple, I can actually do things I love to do, like a long walk with my kid." The market for fitness apps exploded during the pandemic, as fitness fans tried to stay healthy at home. There are a few other apps out there doing similar things. These include Hevy, which lets you track workouts. Meanwhile, for food tracking the basic version of MyFitnessPal is free, with other features locked behind a paywall. The Simple app incorporates both these elements plus the AI assistant Avo and other features. The Simple app is currently 60% off for all new signups when users use the code REACH60 at checkout. With the discount, this works out at one week for €3.99, down from €9.99, one month for €11.99 down from €29.99, or three months for €23.99, down from €59.99. Avo, the app's AI coach, can look at the ingredients available in your fridge and whip up personalised recipe ideas, a feature that Simple user Chris credited for his massive 20kg weight drop, with the chef saying he 'loved the recipes. ' Elsewhere, Danielle saw a dramatic 27.8kg (48lbs) loss. She explained: "I give all credit to Simple. Having an AI coach right there, any time I needed, whatever time of day, helped me more than anything else." The app has a 4.7-star average on Trustpilot, with 58% of those being a perfect 5 star review. One fan said: "I've tried multiple fasting apps, but this one truly stands out. Since using this app, I've noticed better energy levels, improved focus, and even weight loss. The educational content is also a great bonus, helping me understand the science behind fasting." Another individual hailed it as the 'best decision they ever made', stating: "I finally have a healthy relationship with food, I've lost 15 pounds in my first month using this simple app, and it was surprisingly easy." Another user praising the coaching element but admitted they found the app challenging to navigate: "I like the coach feature in this and the food logging by scanning or speaking but I find it confusing on how to use it. I feel it would be better to just have a calendar day click on that and have all that there." A fourth customer labelled it as 'the best app', declaring: "So helpful, easy to scan meals to show ingredients. I have never stuck to anything so long before, it has now become a way of life." Real Simple users are featured who have been compensated for their honest testimonials. Results may vary. You can read The Mirror's review of the Simple app here. The Simple app is available on Android and iOS and is currently 60% off using the code REACH60 at checkout.
