Pam Shriver pens emotional note after ‘challenging' year and split with Donna Vekic: ‘I need to lean even more…'

Pam Shriver, International Tennis Hall of Famer and 22-time Grand Slam doubles champion, announced she is leaving her role as coaching consultant to World No. 22 Donna Vekić. Shriver, who joined Vekić's camp in late 2022, cited a punishing season off court in Los Angeles as the catalyst for her decision. This includes having had to evacuate her home during the devastating wildfires and the temporary loss of her prized trophies. 'It's been a challenging year,' Shriver wrote on X. 'I need to lean even more into my community & my family's wellbeing.' From San Diego to Wimbledon: How the coach-player duo started Their partnership began at the San Diego Open, where Shriver offered courtside insights after spotting Vekić's standout performance in qualifying. Impressed, Vekić brought Shriver on as an advisor alongside coach Nikola Horvat, and later with Sascha Bajin. The results followed swiftly. In just five months, Vekić climbed from world No. 77 to No. 20 in the WTA rankings, as per Sportskeeda. Under Shriver's guidance, she reached her first Grand Slam semifinal at Wimbledon, though she lost to Jasmine Paolini in what was perhaps the longest semifinal in the tournament's history. That momentum carried into the summer, where Vekić secured a silver medal at the Paris Olympics, beating Coco Gauff before falling to Zheng Qinwen. Shriver's personal loss forces a choice Pam Shriver's Los Angeles life was upended in early 2025 when wildfires forced her from her Brentwood home, as reported by WTA. While evacuating, her car, which was packed with 11 of her Grand Slam doubles trophies, was stolen from a hotel parking lot. 'Really sad on so many levels,' she later admitted, after the trophies were recovered. Despite continuing to mentor Vekić remotely through the Australian Open, the ordeal took its toll. In her X post, Shriver called her stint with Vekić 'one of the greatest experiences' she has had in her 50-plus years in tennis, but made clear her priorities have shifted back to family and community. What's next for Donna Vekić? As Shriver departs, Donna Vekić enters the middle of the grass-court season without her veteran adviser. With this official exit, the Croatian will now be working with Sascha Bajin as her main coach this year. Coming off a lean patch in 2025—including early losses at Queen's Club—Vekić will now look to her remaining coaches to sustain the momentum built during her breakthrough seasons.

Arnold Schwarzenegger attends red carpet with all five kids - as son Joseph Baena is seemingly snubbed

Arnold Schwarzenegger celebrated Season 2 of 'FUBAR' with his kids — but one was seemingly snubbed during the event. While all five of the actor's children attended the red carpet premiere of the action series Wednesday in Los Angeles, the 77-year-old posed with them in two separate groups. Arnold first took photos with Katherine, Christina, Patrick and Christopher Schwarzenegger, whom he has with his ex-wife Maria Shriver. Katherine's husband, Chris Pratt, also appeared in the pictures. The family of six smiled for the cameras while surrounding the former governor. Arnold then posed with his son Joseph Baena. He had the 27-year-old with his family's housekeeper, Mildred Baena, following an affair during his marriage to Shriver. While none of his other children took photos with their half-brother, Arnold and Joseph didn't appear to be bothered by it. The actor smiled and proudly posed alongside his look-alike son and later spoke about the possibility of working with Patrick, 31, who recently starred in Season 3 of 'The White Lotus.' 'Well, it could be in the future. I don't know,' he told Extra. 'If there's a good script, you will, of course, think about that, but right now, just let him go and do his own thing. He's doing it very well. He's on a good ride right now. He's very popular. People come up to me now and just say, 'Hey, here's my contact.' And I say, 'Well, thank you… What do you want me to do with this?' ' ' 'No, no, no it's not for you…,' ' Arnold added. ' 'Give it to Patrick.' ' The interviewer, Terri Seymour, then floated the idea of the father-son duo working with his son-in-law, Pratt, 45. 'Could easily be… Who knows,' Arnold replied. In 2011, Shriver, 69, filed for divorce from Arnold following 25 years of marriage after finding out about his affair. Just this year, the author opened up about that 'brutal' moment. In her new book, 'I Am Maria,' published in April, Shriver detailed that the news of Arnold's infidelity came after she had just lost both her mom and dad. 'I was consumed with grief and wracked with confusion, anger, fear, sadness and anxiety,' she penned. 'I was unsure now of who I was, where I belonged. Honestly, it was brutal, and I was terrified.' Shriver added, 'As I sat on my hotel room floor in the dark, alone with tears streaming down my face, I thought to myself: Maria, this doesn't have to be the end of you.' Looking back at that difficult time in her life, Shriver concluded, 'I've also had to come face to face with other misguided beliefs — about aging, about being alone. I used to believe that if you didn't have a partner, you must be unworthy and unlovable. I've learned that nothing could be further from the truth.' This isn't the first time that Joseph has been seemingly snubbed by his half-siblings. The same thing happened at the first season premiere of 'FUBAR.' Meanwhile, in 2023, a source told Page Six that Joseph has a good relationship with Arnold but isn't close with the other children. 'The other kids don't love Joe,' the insider alleged after the event. 'It's a shame as he's a really good kid, and Arnold has always treated him like all his other kids — very fairly. But for whatever reason, the other kids take [the affair] out on Joe.' In March, Joseph got candid about choosing to go by his mother's surname. 'I think the main thing is I'm trying to do things on my own,' he told 'Good Morning Britain.' 'My family is very big in supporting from afar and not being so hands-on, I really appreciate that. I think it's really important growing up as a man to do things on your own. To figure it out, that's what I've been doing,' he added. These days, Joseph is also following in his father's footsteps as he is starring in the upcoming film 'Gunner.' 'I've been working really hard,' he shared. 'It was such an honor to be on the same film as Morgan Freeman, as Luke Hemsworth. Luke is amazing, they're both amazing actors.' Meanwhile, his half-brother, Chris, also 27, debuted his drastic weight loss in May. 'It was a big process,' he said while at the Beacher Vitality Happy & Healthy Summit in Los Angeles, per People. 'I started in 2019 when I was living in Australia. I was on this big trip. I made it a big [deal] like, 'Oh, I'm going to go out and do all this stuff, be in Australia,' and I just saw how much my weight was prohibiting me from doing the everyday activities.' It was a long journey for Chris, who had tried to lose weight for many years. 'I was doing meal delivery things in high school, and I remember feeling like a weirdo when I was bringing weird lunches to school,' he recalled. 'It's not an overnight thing, but it took a lot of trial and error.' Originally published as Arnold Schwarzenegger attends red carpet with all five kids - as son Joseph Baena is seemingly snubbed

‘Absolutely not': Maria Shriver says no to dating apps after Schwarzenegger divorce

Maria Shriver isn't swiping right anytime soon. In an interview on The Jamie Kern Lima Show this week, the journalist and former first lady of California revealed that her four adult children have encouraged her to try online dating. 'My kids have kidded around going, 'We should make you a dating app,'' said Shriver, 69, referring to Katherine, 35, Christina, 33, Patrick, 31, and Christopher, 27. 'I mean, what do you call it, a dating profile? I'm like 'Absolutely not!'' Shriver, who finalized her divorce from actor and former California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2021, made it clear she's content with where she is. 'No, I'm good. I'm finally good on my own, and that's taken a tremendous amount,' she said. ' I have a beautiful life that I'm deeply grateful for.' Since the end of her 25-year marriage, Shriver said she's spent time rethinking her understanding of love and connection. 'I used to think that love came only in an intimate, romantic package, and it made me miss out on all the love that was being offered to me through my friends and through other people,' she said. 'And I've now realized that there's so many different ways to access the love that is there for us, the love that exists for us, because we're so focused on 'dating,' right? Or your marriage, partner, and that nobody can give you everything you're looking for.' She added: 'So I'm really focused on expanding my notion of love, expanding the amount of people that are in my open field so to speak, that bring me love. And so whomever I end up with, if I do end up with someone that way, they're going to be in a village.' Shriver is currently promoting her new book, 'I Am Maria,' a candid exploration of identity, los and renewal. While she remains open to the future, she said she's at peace with the present. 'I've just kind of gotten to the place now where I'm thinking, I don't know, maybe, but my life is really full,' she said. 'I'm not looking, but I'm open to whatever God sends my way.'

Arnold Schwarzenegger Cracks Surprising Joke About Ex-Wife Maria Shriver

While Arnold Schwarzenegger typically remains mum on details of his personal life, the Terminator recently broke from his usual stance and dropped a well-timed joke about ex-wife Maria Shriver. The off the cuff comment happened during the Amazon Upfront event, where the former body builder sat on a panel to discuss his upcoming move. Related: Sources Close to Ben Affleck Say He's Dying To Have More Kids Schwarzenegger's new flick is a Christmas movie, which prompted him to bring up the older holiday film he starred in, according to Hola! magazine. 'Jingle All the Way was the greatest Christmas movie of all time,' the father of five joked of the 90s movie. 'They play it the whole month of December. I know because my ex-wife calls me about the residual.' For those who may not remember, Schwarzenegger and Shriver divorced after news broke that he had an affair with the couple's housekeeper, Mildred Baena, and fathered a child as a result of the relationship. When Shriver found out about the relationship, she decided to put an end to their 25 year marriage. Schwarzenegger rarely talks about his ex and the affair that ended their relationship, mostly because both he and Shriver have always said that they wanted to put their four children first. In fact, the last time he made a public comment about it was while he was promoting his book in 2021, right around the time his divorce was finalized. The duo must be on pretty good terms these days for Schwarzenegger to make such a comment, especially since he has been quiet about so much else having to do with Shriver. That's good news for the couple's shared children, who have probably been through a lot in the years since the news of their father's affair broke. Up Next:

Arnold Schwarzenegger makes snide remark about ex-wife Maria Shriver while promoting new film

Arnold Schwarzenegger made a rare comment about his ex-wife Maria Shriver when discussing his upcoming holiday film, 'The Man With the Bag.' The former California Governor spoke about the upcoming film, due out later this year on Prime Video, at Amazon's Upfront 2025 Presentation in New York City. During the engagement, he took the time to reminisce about an older holiday film of his. "'Jingle All the Way' was the greatest Christmas movie of all time,' he said at the event on Monday, May 12, referring to the 1996 Christmas comedy film in which he goes to great lengths to secure the hottest new toy for his son and stars opposite Rita Wilson. 'They play it the whole month of December.' "I know because my ex-wife calls me about the residual," Schwarzenegger joked. Shriver, a former journalist, was married to Schwarzenegger for 25 years. The couple's marriage ended in 2011, following the revelation that Schwarzenegger had fathered a child with their longtime housekeeper. Shriver opened up about their split, which was finalized in 2021, in her new poetry collection, 'I Am Maria.' 'It broke my heart, it broke my spirit, it broke what was left of me,' she wrote in the book, which was released last month. 'I was consumed with grief and wracked with confusion, anger, fear, sadness, and anxiety. I was unsure now of who I was, where I belonged. Honestly, it was brutal, and I was terrified.' Despite being separated, Schwarzenegger and Shriver have co-parented their four children: Katherine, Christina, Christopher and Patrick, of 'White Lotus' fame. 'My chapter with Maria will continue on forever,' Schwarzenegger told People Magazine in 2023. 'Even though it's a different relationship, there's no reason for me to feel anything other than love for her.'
