But now, the comedy-drama set in Dublin will come to a close with its impending third series. Production on its final episodes is currently underway in Dublin with the show likely to hit screens next year. The programme's writer, Nancy Harris, confirmed that there would be no more editions in a statement in which she reflected on the show. She said: 'It has been a true joy to see audiences embrace the Sheridan family in all their dysfunctional glory and I am so grateful to have gotten to tell this story over three seasons. "The third and final season aims to go deeper than ever before, really getting under the skin of Shiv and the family in a way that we hope is both surprising, funny and (painfully) honest.' Whilst Nana Hughes, the Head of Scripted Comedy at ITV went on to add: "ITV are absolutely thrilled to be part of the team alongside RTÉ and Element Pictures for the third and final series of The Dry. "Nancy Harris' scripts will make you laugh and may well make you cry....I did both just reading the scripts. "Nancy's award winning writing delivers more of the chaotic mess that is the Sheridan family. "I can't wait to see what Paddy and the cast will bring to the finale of this wonderful show.' RTE's comedy drama The Dry begins filming final series

Actor Ciaran Hinds has returned to film the final series of RTE's comedy drama, The Dry. Filming has begun in Dublin on the third and final series. The eight-part series will once again follow Róisín Gallagher's character Shiv Sheridan, a recovering alcoholic navigating life and sobriety within her dysfunctional family. Speaking about the final season, writer Nancy Harris said the final series is set to be 'painfully honest'. She said: "It has been a true joy to see audiences embrace the Sheridan family in all their dysfunctional glory. The third and final season aims to go deeper than ever before… both surprising, funny and (painfully) honest." Shiv was last seen choosing herself over a faltering romance, as her ex-boyfriend departed for Melbourne alone. In the new series, she meets Daryl, a charismatic but unsettling Australian (played by Rick Donald), who unexpectedly reappears in her life at a recovery meeting. Returning cast members include Siobhán Cullen as Caroline, Adam Richardson as Ant, Oscar nominee Ciarán Hinds as Tom, Pom Boyd as Bernie, Moe Dunford as Jack, and Eoin Duffy as Rory. The final chapter promises a deeper dive into the lives of the Sheridans, as a long-buried family secret surfaces and triggers a fresh wave of emotional reckoning. As the family struggles to move forward, Shiv is forced to confront the possibility that the real problem may not be alcohol, past lovers, or her family, but herself. RTÉ's Director of Acquisitions & Co-Productions, Dermot Horan, said the broadcaster was "delighted" to return to the Sheridans' world. He said: "Nancy Harris' scripts are at times funny and at times tragic - and that is why we all feel we can relate to these memorable characters." ITV's Head of Scripted Comedy, Nana Hughes, praised the show's blend of humour and emotion, saying: "Nancy's award-winning writing delivers more of the chaotic mess that is the Sheridan family. I can't wait to see what Paddy and the cast bring to the finale." Executive Producer Emma Norton of Element Pictures added that the team was "thrilled" to be filming the final series, promising "an extraordinary cast" and some "very fun new faces".

Constable exam paper leak case: ED raids four states

Patna: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday launched simultaneous raids in Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal in connection with the police constable recruitment examination paper leak case. The large-scale operation is part of an ongoing investigation into money laundering linked to the scam. According to official sources, the search operation was conducted 11 locations in Bihar and Jharkhand. In Patna, ED officials raided the premises of Shiv, while in Ranchi, the residence of Sikandar Prasad Yadavendu was searched. Both are directly involved in the recruitment scam. Shiv is the son of Sanjeev Mukhiya, alleged mastermind of the NEET-UG 2024 paper leak, according to sources. The ED team began its operations at two separate locations in Nalanda from 7.30am. One raid was conducted at the residence of Shiv in Balwa village while the other targeted the home of Sandeep Kumar in Gosai Math village. Sandeep is said to be a close associate of Mukhiya. The teams, arriving in three ED vehicles accompanied by central security forces, involved about a dozen officials in total. Sources said original certificates of eight to ten candidates were found, along with four blank cheques. Chequebooks, passbooks, certificates, and other documents were also seized. A separate raid was carried out at Sikandar's residence near RPS Mor under Rupaspur police station limits. However, no official statement from the ED has been released so far. Tension briefly escalated in Gosai Math when around 25 villagers protested the ED action, threatening to disrupt proceedings and raising fears of stone-pelting. Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel promptly brought the situation under control, and the raid continued without further hindrance until the afternoon. Sandeep, who owns the largest share of agricultural land in his village, fled before the ED team arrived, adding to suspicions of his involvement. Meanwhile, Shiv, who had been jailed earlier in the same constable recruitment paper leak case, was recently released on bail. He was also the subject of Thursday's raid in Patna. His father, Sanjeev Mukhiya, is widely considered the key figure behind the NEET-UG paper leak and has allegedly been involved in leaking several other competitive exam papers. In April 2025, he was arrested by the Special Task Force (STF) in Patna after absconding since the NEET-UG leak on May 5, 2024. A reward of Rs 3 lakh had been declared for information leading to his arrest. He is currently lodged in jail. Mukhiya, formerly employed as a technical assistant at the Horticulture College in Noorsarai, Nalanda, has once again brought to light the rampant corruption in the education sector. His wife, Mamta Devi, had contested the 2020 assembly elections from Harnaut on an LJP ticket. She is expected to contest the upcoming elections as well, although it is unclear whether she will stand as an independent or represent a political party.

Will ensure smooth pilgrimage for kanwariyas with minimal inconvenience to public: Ashish Sood

New Delhi, Delhi Home Minister Ashish Sood on Thursday said the government will ensure that Kanwar pilgrims are able to observe their religious practices with full dignity and devotion, while ensuring minimal inconvenience to the general public. Sood chaired a high-level meeting at the Delhi Secretariat to review preparations for the upcoming Kanwar Yatra. The meeting was attended by senior officials from the Delhi Police, Urban Development Department, Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board, Delhi Fire Services, Delhi Home Guards, Municipal Corporation of Delhi, Power Distribution Companies, Disaster Management Authority, and other agencies concerned. Sood said this is the first major religious event under the current government, with thousands of devotees expected to arrive from different states. He said the government will ensure all necessary facilities for the pilgrims during their passage through Delhi. The minister announced that Kanwar organising committees will be provided with all necessary administrative support at a single point. A single-window system will be set up at the district magistrate's office to facilitate approvals and permissions from various departments in a streamlined manner. He said the safety, service and convenience of the devotees will be a top priority. He directed officials from the municipal corporation, urban development department, power department and other agencies to identify rest points along the yatra route and ensure proper facilities such as cleanliness, toilets, drinking water and adequate lighting. The power department was asked to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply along the route and at camp sites. Sood said the Delhi Police has been directed to deploy an adequate number of male and female personnel along the yatra routes and at camps to maintain law and order and manage traffic efficiently. Sensitive points along the route will be equipped with permanent barricading to ensure that pilgrims stay on designated paths and avoid unauthorised intrusions. He also directed the police to monitor sound systems in camps near residential areas and ensure that devotional songs played on loudspeakers are limited to permitted hours. Police personnel have been asked to politely request pilgrims to avoid playing loud music late at night to avoid causing disturbance to locals, an official statement said. They have also been asked to coordinate with police forces from neighbouring states. Sood instructed the Delhi Fire Services to prepare a plan for deploying small fire tenders near Kanwar camps to respond quickly in case of fire-related emergencies. Earlier this week, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta had announced that issues faced by the Kanwar committees will be solved through a single-window system. She had stressed that the government will take care of all the facilities for the "Shiv bhakts". Kanwar Yatra is one of the most significant religious traditions of North India where millions of devotees collect holy Ganga water from Haridwar, Gangotri and other sacred places to offer at Shiva temples during the Hindi month of Saavan. Every year, thousands of kanwar devotees pass through Delhi en route to other states.
