Owner of unassuming white Ford Transit van jailed for 25 years over nightmarish secret
A depraved illegal migrant who raped multiple women inside a van authorities called a 'rape dungeon on wheels' will spend over 25 years behind bars after accepting a plea deal. Eduardo Sarabia, 41, was sentenced to 25 years and eight months in state prison on Friday after pleading no contest to raping two women inside his Ford Transit van. Deputies had described the vehicle as being 'disgustingly outfitted for rape.' Images from inside the vehicle showed condoms, ropes, bungee cords, children's toys, multiple cell phones, and hard drives. A stained mattress was found behind a metal partition, and the van had an external lock system that couldn't be accessed from the inside. Sarabia also pleaded no contest to sexually assaulting two children between 2010 and 2021 in one case, and 2012 and 2022 in the other. In May of last year, he lured two women into his van under the guise of taking a camping trip in the San Gabriel mountains in May of last year. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said Sarabia then sexually assaulted his victims in a secluded area of woodland with no cell phone service off Highway 39. Sarabia has been in custody following his arrest last year. Fox 11 Los Angeles reported that other victims came forward after his arrest, one of whom was his niece. Officials said Sarabia kept his victims locked inside the 'cage' in order to 'take them to a remote location and rape them.' Deputies said he raped a woman on May 12, 2024, after driving her to to the area off Highway 39. The next day, deputies caught him in the act when he returned to the same area with another woman. As they arrived on the scene the second victim was screaming for help, ABC7 reported. Law enforcement had also said that he was a transient and an illegal migrant from Mexico after his arrest. The Los Angeles Times reported that multiple victims were prepared to testify against him before he pleaded no contest to all of the charges. LA County District Attorney George Gascón said in a statement following his initial arrest: 'The horrific and violent sexual assault that these two survivors endured by the alleged suspect is deeply troubling and incomprehensible.'
