Historic Qur'an texts displayed at Grand Mosque

MAKKAH: An awareness exhibition aimed at enriching pilgrims' experiences and spreading the Holy Qur'an's guidance and cultural insights has opened in the third Saudi expansion area of the Grand Mosque. The event, launched by the Presidency of Religious Affairs at the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque, highlights the Qur'an's global relevance and fosters values of tolerance, moderation and balance. Sheikh Abdulrahman Al-Sudais, head of the presidency, said it underlined the Qur'an's message and aligned with the leadership's commitment to serving the holy book and spreading its sciences, the Saudi Press Agency reported. The exhibition offers a unique opportunity for millions of pilgrims to view rare and ancient copies of the Qur'an, some dating back more than 1,000 years. These include old handwritten copies, wooden panels with Qur'anic verses, and other significant manuscripts.

RIYADH: Sheikh Saleh bin Humaid will deliver the Arafah sermon during this year's Hajj, the Presidency of Religious Affairs announced on Sunday. The day of Arafah (the 9th of Dhul Hijjah) is widely considered the pinnacle of Hajj, marking the most important day for pilgrims. Muslims around the world who are not performing the pilgrimage mark the day by fasting and engaging in worship. The sermon is delivered from Masjid Al-Nimra on Mount Arafat before Dhuhr and Asr prayers are performed together on Dhul Hijjah 9. Head of Religious Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque Sheikh Abdulrahman Al-Sudais thanked King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for the appointment. The appointment underscores the Kingdom's global religious leadership, reflects its continued support for religious institutions, and exemplifies the leadership's care for the two holy mosques, the presidency said.

RIYADH: As Saudi Arabia gears up for this year's Hajj, the Presidency of Religious Affairs at the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque has launched a new smart portal to enhance the digital experience of pilgrims to the Grand Mosque. The initiative offers well-curated Islamic content in a simplified and comprehensive manner that addresses the needs of pilgrims, visitors and Umrah performers, reported the Saudi Press Agency. The portal offers a fully integrated digital platform dedicated to delivering religious and enrichment services. President of Religious Affairs at the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque, Sheikh Abdulrahman Al-Sudais, said it was the first smart, faith-based portal of its kind — innovative, globally accessible and highly regulated. Designed in multiple languages, it serves as an enrichment reference for pilgrims based on a carefully curated and standardized database. The interactive platform is powered by several smart technologies and offers a range of features including prayer time displays, notifications about imams and muezzins, and schedules of religious lessons and their locations. It is distinguished by an interactive navigation feature that allows visitors to directly access service and lesson locations using smart maps within the app. The portal also enables instant responses to visitor queries through live chat and provides guidance on how to perform prayer and ablution, along with definitions of Islamic terms. It can be accessed via The Presidency also unveiled the updated second version of its AI-powered Manarat Al-Haramain robot on Wednesday, as part of an initiative aiming to leverage advanced technologies to enhance pilgrims' spiritual experiences. The robot will act as a reference point for religious inquiries at the Grand Mosque and can connect worshippers and other visitors to direct video calls with muftis who can answer any questions they have.

MAKKAH: The Presidency of Religious Affairs at the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque has launched the 'Enriching the Field Path' initiative as part of the Kingdom's operational plan for this year's Hajj season. The initiative aims to enhance the pilgrimage experience through scientific guidance and awareness programs that promote a message of moderate Hajj in multiple languages, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Saturday. It includes more than 20 digital, technical, educational, devotional and faith-based awareness initiatives delivered in various languages. Its goal is to enrich pilgrims' spiritual journey with impactful religious content and high-quality services, enabling them to perform rituals with understanding in a devotional atmosphere. Sheikh Abdulrahman Al-Sudais, head of the presidency, emphasized the importance of strengthening on-the-ground efforts to deliver improved enrichment services for all pilgrims. He urged a focus on promoting the message of a moderate, faith-based Hajj to the global community through multilingual platforms. Al-Sudais also called for easing ritual performance with gentleness, wisdom and compassionate guidance, while using digital tools and AI to overcome time and geographic barriers in spreading the message of a humane and moderate Hajj.
