Dhaka court imposes travel ban on Shakib Al Hasan amid corruption case
A court in Dhaka has imposed a travel ban on former Awami League lawmaker and cricketer-turned-politician Shakib Al Hasan, along with 15 others, in connection with a corruption case. The order was issued by Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain following a hearing on two separate petitions filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).According to the petitions, Shakib and the others allegedly amassed illicit wealth by investing several crores of taka in the stock market through irregular means, in violation of stock market regulations. The ACC claimed that Shakib and his co-accused carried out transactions worth Tk 8.97 crore and Tk 4.48 crore with the intent to embezzle funds, thereby breaching Section 19(1) of Rule 24(3) of the microcredit petitions were filed by ACC Assistant Director Sajjad Hossain and Deputy Director Md Rokonuzzaman, who requested the travel restrictions to prevent the accused individuals from fleeing the country. The court's directive prohibits Shakib and the 15 others from leaving Bangladesh until further remains to be seen how the ruling would affect Shakib's cricket commitments. Mehidy Hasan Miraz to join Lahore Qalandars for PSL 2025 playoffs
Lahore Qalandars have roped in Bangladesh all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz for the playoffs stage of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025. The Bangladesh Cricket Board has issued Mehidy the necessary no-objection certificate (NOC), and he is scheduled to travel to Lahore by Tuesday. The PSL playoffs kick off on Wednesday, with the Qalandars set to compete in the Eliminator on Thursday - though their opponent is yet to be confirmed. Mehidy expressed excitement about the opportunity, despite the possibility that it might only last for a single match. "Of course, it is exciting for me to join Lahore Qalandars. It is technically the second time I have been called up to a franchise league. Nonetheless, it is a good opportunity for me to compete at a very high level. PSL is one of the top tournaments going around. I have done well in the past in the BPL, so I am confident that I can give my best," ESPNcricinfo quoted Mehidy as saying. He expressed his desire to use this opportunity as a pathway back into Bangladesh's T20I setup. He has not been included in the squad currently playing a T20I series against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in Sharjah, nor in the squad selected for the upcoming five-match series in Pakistan. "I can get myself up to the mark in T20s, so that I am prepared for the selection opportunities ahead. Definitely, I want to get back into the Bangladesh (T20I) team, and this is one of the ways I can improve myself in the format," he said. At Qalandars, Mehidy will reunite with his long-time teammate Shakib Al Hasan. Following the resumption of the PSL, after a pause due to border tensions between India and Pakistan, Qalandars managed to bring back Sikandar Raza. However, he was available for just one match before joining the Zimbabwe squad for their one-off four-day Test against England at Trent Bridge. With David Wiese and Sam Billings opting not to return to Pakistan, Qalandars brought in Shakib and Bhanuka Rajapaksa for the tournament's crucial final stages. Shakib made his first appearance on Sunday, but it was a tough outing -he was dismissed for a first-ball duck and conceded 18 runs in two wicketless overs against Peshawar Zalmi. BD cricket team to tour Pakistan from 21st
LAHORE: The Bangladesh cricket team has been given the go ahead by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) tour Pakistan. Following heightened tensions between Pakistan and India, the BCB had sought permission from its government before confirming the tour, which has allowed, the sources said, adding: 'The Pakistan-Bangladesh series will go ahead as per the original schedule. The series is set to begin on May 27 and will comprise five T20 matches. All matches are scheduled to take place in Faisalabad and Lahore.' There are no security concerns in Pakistan and the series will take place across both scheduled venues, the sources added. Moreover, Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has joined Lahore Qalandars for the remaining matches of the Pakistan Super League (PSL 10) starting today. Shakib had replaced New Zealand's Daryl Mitchell in the squad, who is unavailable for the rest of the tournament. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had announced the schedule for the remaining fixtures of PSL X. According to the schedule, league matches will take place in Rawalpindi, while the playoff round will be staged in Lahore. The final of PSL X is scheduled to be played at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, on May 25. The Pakistan-Bangladesh series is part of the Future Tour Programme (FTP). The series was originally consisted of three ODIs and three T20Is. However, with the ICC Men's T20 World Cup scheduled for next year, both the boards have mutually agreed to replace the ODIs with two additional T20Is. The five-match T20I series will be played in Faisalabad and Lahore from May 25 to June 3. Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad, which successfully hosted the inaugural Champions One-Day Cup in September last year and National T20 Cup last month, will stage the first and second T20Is of the series, scheduled on May 25 and 27, respectively. Iqbal Stadium, which has previously hosted 24 Tests and 16 ODIs between 1978 and 2008, will welcome back international cricket after a 17-year hiatus. The historic venue's last international fixture was an ODI between Bangladesh and Pakistan in April 2008. Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium will host the remaining three T20Is, scheduled on May 30, June 1 and 3. All five matches will begin at 8pm. Islamabad get major boost as Dwarshuis returns
Australian pacer Ben Dwarshuis is set to rejoin defending champions Islamabad United for the remaining matches of the upcoming HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10, which is scheduled to begin on Saturday. The tournament, which was briefly suspended last week due to rising cross-border tensions with India, is set to resume on May 17 with Karachi Kings facing Peshawar Zalmi at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. Dwarshuis was selected by Islamabad United in the Gold category during the PSL 10 draft. He made his debut in the marquee league this year and has taken four wickets in five matches so far. Lahore eye Shakib Former Bangladesh captain and star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan is expected to return to competitive cricket by joining Lahore Qalandars for the remaining matches. According to Bangladeshi media reports, a senior official from Lahore Qalandars has confirmed the franchise's interest in acquiring Shakib's services, although a final agreement has yet to be reached. "There is interest in him, but nothing is final. We will share updates about our overseas players once everything is confirmed," the official was quoted as saying. Shakib has previously featured in the PSL for Peshawar Zalmi and Karachi Kings. It is pertinent to mention that the Bangladeshi all-rounder, who also briefly served as a lawmaker in his country, has not returned to Bangladesh since the collapse of Sheikh Hasina's government last year. Shakib was participating in a domestic T20 tournament in Canada at the time of the political upheaval. A seasoned campaigner, the left-arm spinner has represented Bangladesh in 71 Tests, 247 ODIs, and 129 T20Is, amassing a remarkable 712 wickets across formats. His last competitive appearance came in November last year for the Bangla Tigers in the Abu Dhabi T10 League. Meanwhile, Rawalpindi will host three matches, including a double-header on Sunday, May 18. In the afternoon, Quetta Gladiators will face Multan Sultans, followed by Peshawar Zalmi taking on Lahore Qalandars in the evening. The final match at the venue will feature defending champions Islamabad United clashing with Karachi Kings on May 19. After that, the tournament will move to Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium for the business end of the competition. The Qualifier, Eliminator 1, and Eliminator 2 are scheduled for May 21, 22, and 23, respectively, with the grand final set for May 25.

Shakib, Rajapaksa join Lahore Qalandars for remainder of PSL 10
Lahore Qalandars have bolstered their squad for the remainder of the Pakistan Super League season 10 with the inclusion of Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan and Sri Lankan batter Bhanuka Rajapaksa.
