Disclaimer: This article contains spoilers. Padakkalam starring Suraj Venjaramoodu, Sharaf U Dheen, and Sandeep Pradeep is currently available for streaming on JioHotstar. With the fantasy comedy entertainer becoming a massive success, did you miss out on the final details of the film? The supernatural entertainer, directed by debutant Manu Swaraj, features the story of four nerdy college students and comic book enthusiasts. The film starts with everyone having their college life as usual, two professors, Shaji and Renjith, are eyeing the Head of Department (HOD) post. Shaji (played by Suraj Venjaramoodu) is an average professor with his own life problems. On the other hand, Renjith is a beloved person among students. Even though this may be true, Renjith is also believed to be the user of an ancient dice game (pakida) which helps him to swap bodies with people he chooses. To ensure his appointment as the HOD, he uses his powers to swap with Shaji and ruin his professional life for good. All seems to be going well when Jithin (Sandeep Pradeep) and the rest of his gang start to suspect these mysterious happenings, with Renjith pulling Jithin into the game as well. Spoiler Alert Padakkalam progresses into more chaos and humor when Shaji, Renjith, and Jithin accidentally swap their bodies with each other. Now, Shaji is trapped inside Renjith's body, Renjith inside Jithin's, and Jithin inside Shaji's. Initially, Shaji (now Renjith) enjoys his life inside the new body, being treated with respect and love as the HOD. On the other end, Jithin (now Shaji) is flustered and Renjith (now Jithin) is continuing his evil ways with a younger body. Soon enough, Shaji's estranged wife comes back into his life, announcing she's pregnant, which motivates him to return to his body. Now, Shaji and Jithin must force Renjith to give up the body he inhabits by playing the dice game once again. As the showdown is set to happen, massive chaos erupts among them, with everyone returning to their own bodies, minutes before Renjith falls off a balcony and gets severely injured. Watch Padakkalam trailer In a final note, the movie ends with the hospital indicating Renjith has escaped from their care, teasing a sequel to the film.

Padakkalam OTT Release Date: When and where to watch Suraj Venjaramoodu & Sharaf U Dheen's fantasy film online
Padakkalam OTT Release Date: Get ready to enter a world where reality bends, professors swap bodies, and ancient board games unleash chaos. Padakkalam, the latest Malayalam fantasy caper, is all set to make its digital debut on JioHotstar starting June 10, 2025. After a low-key theatrical run in early May, this surreal comedy-drama is finding a second life on streaming. When the chalkboard turns into a battleground At first glance, Padakkalam looks like your average campus drama: two professors, one chair, and a college full of students who'd rather gossip than attend lectures. But beneath that seemingly grounded setting lies a wild, almost cartoonish narrative twist: body-swapping sorcery. Ranjith and Shaji, both professors at a college that doesn't seem to have HR protocols, are vying for the head-of-department post. While students naturally side with the affable Ranjith, the job goes to Shaji. Things take a turn for the bizarre when Shaji, now HOD, starts behaving erratically like… unsettlingly strange. He's not the man they knew. Turns out, he quite literally isn't. Enter Jithin, a student who notices the sudden personality change. And through a bit of snooping, a few skipped lectures, and a stolen board game, he uncovers the truth: Ranjith has used black magic, courtesy of an ancient Pachisi set, to switch bodies with Shaji. As absurd as it sounds, the tone of the film embraces it with full conviction. Once Jithin and his gang of misfit friends get their hands on the mystical board game, they set in motion a series of mishaps that spiral out of control, turning their sleepy college into a chaotic playground for the supernatural. What follows is a frantic attempt to reverse the curse, put people back in their rightful bodies, and restore sanity before final exams and reputations go up in smoke. A cast that carries the crazy Suraj Venjaramoodu plays Ranjith with Sharaf U Dheen as the unfortunate Shaji. Niranjana Anoop plays a student caught between chaos and curiosity. The supporting roles, especially Sandeep Pradeep (from Falimy), Arun Ajikumar, and the Saaf Bros, provide comic relief that doesn't feel forced. Directed by Manu Swaraj and co-written by Swaraj and Nithin C Babu, Padakkalam leans hard into the absurd. This Rajesh Murugesan musical is cinematographed by Anu Moothedath and edited by Nidhin Raj Arol.

IUML brings ‘Op Sindoor' to Nilambur bypoll campaign
KOZHIKODE: IUML leader K M Shaji has brought in Operation Sindoor, India's reaction to the massacre of 26 people at Pahalgam in Kashmir, in the campaign for the ensuing Nilambur by-election, asking LDF candidate M Swaraj whether he sticks to his earlier stand on the futility of wars. Speaking to reporters in Nilambur on Thursday, Shaji said the most important political issue in the country now is war. 'Swaraj's Facebook post on war was widely discussed. He issued another post when it became a talking point,' Shaji said. 'Our leader E T Muhammad Basheer, among others, is travelling to all parts of the world to convince them that the war was instigated by Pakistan. We would like to know whether Swaraj sticks to his earlier stand that the war was unnecessary after he became a candidate,' Shaji asked. 'We feel that the war was imperative. It was a wound on the self-respect of Muslims as believers,' he said. The insistence of the terrorist to recite 'kalima' and the murder of the male members in front of women were a bullet that passed through the hearts of Muslims, he said.

Sending Draft Divorce Proposal Doesn't Amount To Abetment Of Suicide: Kerala High Court
Last Updated: The woman's mother had accused her husband and others of cruelty and abetment to suicide after her daughter jumped into a well The Kerala High Court recently set aside a trial court's order that added charge of abetment of suicide (Section 306 IPC) against a man whose wife died killed herself shortly after receiving a draft divorce agreement. The bench of Justice Dr Kauser Edappagath, delivering the judgment on May 22, allowed a petition filed by one Puthiya Purayil Shaji, challenging the Magistrate's decision to frame an additional charge under Section 306 IPC in a case already proceeding under Section 498A IPC (cruelty by husband). The case pertained to the tragic death of Shaji's wife in 2005, just three months after their marriage. The woman's mother, MK Padmini, had accused Shaji and others of cruelty and abetment to suicide after her daughter jumped into a well. An FIR was initially registered for both 498A and 306 IPC, but the final police report only invoked Section 498A. Years into the trial, after 11 witnesses had been examined, the prosecution moved an application under Section 216 CrPC, seeking to add the charge of abetment of suicide. The trial court agreed, finding that evidence from family members showed the deceased was devastated upon receiving a draft divorce agreement from the accused's side. However, the high court took a stricter view. It emphasised that the law demands more than emotional distress to prove abetment. 'They did not state that the petitioner played any active role in either instigating or intentionally aiding the commission of suicide…The prosecution has no case that the petitioner, through accused No.3 in Annexure A1 complaint, handed over the Annexure A2 draft agreement with the intention to drive the deceased to commit suicide," the court held. Referring to multiple Supreme Court precedents, the court reiterated that for a charge under Section 306 to stand, there must be a clear and proximate act of instigation or aiding the suicide. 'A mere allegation of humiliation, harassment or threat unaccompanied by any incitement or instigation is not at all sufficient to attract the offence," the court noted. The judgment further clarified that while Section 216 CrPC grants courts wide powers to alter or add charges, such powers must be exercised based on substantive material evidence. Since the prosecution's own witnesses did not allege any instigation or intent on the part of the petitioner, the addition of Section 306 IPC was found unwarranted. The high court also pointed out that the initial investigating officer had rightly excluded the abetment charge after reviewing the case diary. Therefore, setting aside the Magistrate's order, the high court ruled that the criminal trial shall proceed only under Section 498A IPC.
